화재 안전용 볼밸브의 열·구조 연성해석 (Thermal-structural Coupled Field Analysis for Fire Safety Type Ball Valve)

  • The safety of transporting equipment in a cryogenic condition is one of important problems under the circumstances that the application weight of natural gas is gradually increasing. As a larger disaster may be generated by leakage of oil or gas from valves in case of fire occurrence of a ship, the present research applied a numerical analysis method on thermal stress distribution and deformation, etc. to the design of ball valves satisfying fire safety test's specification(API607) to prevent this. In addition, the present research progressed fire safety tests and compared the test result with numerical analysis results. The Max stress by parts was confirmed through thermal analysis of major parts to evaluate safety. The fire safety test was progressed according to the regulation of API607.

고주파 능동소나를 이용한 저층 침적 위험유해물질 대체물질 음향 탐지 실험 및 모의 (Experiment and Simulation of Acoustic Detection for the Substitute for Sunken Hazardous and Noxious Substances Using the High Frequency Active Sonar)

  • 위험유해물질은 해양에 유입되었을 때 인간의 건강 및 해양생태계에 막대한 영향을 미치는 물질로 정의된다. 최근 선박을 이용한 물동량이 증가되면서 위험유해물질 누출사고의 발생비율도 증가되는 추세이다. 이에 따라 위험유해물질 누출사고 대응기술개발의 관점에서 해저에 침적되는 물질들의 방제 및 모니터링 연구가 수행되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 저층 침적 위험유해물질의 음향 탐지 가능성을 확인하기 위해 저층 침적 위험유해물질 대체물질의 반사손실 측정 실험이 수행되었다. 위험유해물질로 구분되는 클로로폼의 위험성을 고려하여 클로로폼과 임피던스가 유사한 피마자유가 대체물질로 사용되었으며, 200 kHz 고주파 신호를 송신하여 물과 피마자유 경계면에서 발생되는 반사손실을 측정하였다. 그리고 물과 피마자유의 임피던스를 측정 및 조사하여 반사계수를 모의하고 모의된 반사손실이 측정값과 유사함을 확인하였다. 또한 저층 침적 위험유해물질로 분류되는 클로로폼의 반사손실을 모의하고 모의 결과가 다양한 해저면 구성성분의 반사손실 모의결과와 차이를 나타냄으로써 해저면과 구분되는 저층 침적 위험유해물질의 음향 탐지 가능성을 예측하였다.

  • A subsea oil production system must be safely operated for 20-30 years after being installed. Because of the severe conditions of the subsea environment, such as extreme high pressure, low visibility, the possibility of unexpected impact by any object, and corrosion by seawater, subsea oil production systems should be monitored by subsea data logger systems and remotely operated vehicles to check for abnormal vibration and leakage to prevent a catastrophic accident. Because of the severity of subsea environmental conditions and the dominance of a few companies in the market, many people have thought that it would be difficult to develop a subsea data logger system. The primary objectives of the study described in this paper were to analyze existing subsea data logger systems to establish the requirements for a subsea data logger system, implement a prototype subsea data logger system, and conduct a test of the prototype subsea data logger system.

경유와 메탄올의 유출속도에 따른 화재특성 (Fire Characteristics for Spill Rate of Light oil and Methanol)

  • In this study, tank truck incidents of road transport of hazardous materials to experimental investigated the potential fire hazard. Real scale fire was to perform experiments for on this qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. Particularly affected by radiant heat from the flames caused and damage estimates range investigated accordingly. Flame temperature, internal temperature of tank and emitted radiation from the flames was investigated. The flame of light oil spill caused a fire at a temperature of about $300^{\circ}C$ high in comparison with the methanol by combustion of diesel and methanol, according to the difference, the flame duration changes varies depending on the Burning rate. Depending on spill rate(30, 60, 90 and $120{\ell}/min$) and the longer the duration of the flame important factors for the internal temperature of tank lorry rise was found. Road accident in a fire caused by leakage of hazardous was could the higher the damaged. Therefor, Fire suppression activities should be required in particular to be around.

Activity of Essential Oils Against Bacillus subtilis Spores

  • Alternative methods for controlling bacterial endospore contamination are desired in a range of industries and applications. Attention has recently turned to natural products, such as essential oils, which have sporicidal activity. In this study, a selection of essential oils was investigated to identify those with activity against Bacillus subtilis spores. Spores were exposed to 13 essential oils, and surviving spores were enumerated. Cardamom, tea tree, and juniper leaf oils were the most effective, reducing the number of viable spores by 3 logs at concentrations above 1%. Sporicidal activity was enhanced at high temperatures ($60^{\circ}C$) or longer exposure times (up to 1 week). Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis identified the components of the active essential oils. However, none of the major oil components exhibited equivalent activity to the whole oils. The fact that oil components, either alone or in combination, did not show the same level of sporicidal activity as the complete oils suggested that minor components may be involved, or that these act synergistically with major components. Scanning electron microscopy was used to examine spores after exposure to essential oils and suggested that leakage of spore contents was the likely mode of sporicidal action. Our data have shown that essential oils exert sporicidal activity and may be useful in applications where bacterial spore reduction is desired.

위험물 수송 탱크 차량의 국내외 안전기준 비교 연구-유류 차량 중심 (A Study for the Safety Regulation of Tank Car for the Hazardous Material - General Oil Tank Car)

  • 최근 들어 철도차량 안전과 관련하여 국내에서 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 하지만 대부분의 연구는 여객을 수송하는 일반 객차, 전동차, 고속열차 등을 중심으로 행해지고 있으며, 화물 특히 위험물 수송 화물차량에 대한 연구는 전무한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 위험물질을 수송하는 탱크차의 안전기준을 개발하기 위하여 유류를 중심으로 국내외 관련된 안전기준을 비교 분석하여 국내 위험물 수송 탱크차 안전기준 개발의 기초를 마련하고자 한다.

실험계획법과 콤플렉스법에 의한 고성능 유압휴즈의 최적 설계 (Optimal Design of A Quick-Acting Hydraulic Fuse Using Design of Experiments and Complex Method)

  • A quick-acting hydraulic fuse, which is mainly composed of a poppet, a seat, and a spring, must be designed to minimize the leaked oil volume during fuse operation on a line rupture. The optimal design parameters of a quick-acting hydraulic fuse were searched using the design of experiments method and the complex method. First, the $L_{50}(5^4)$ orthogonal array is used to find the robust minimum point among the 625 points of design variables. The search range can then be narrowed around the robust minimum point. Second, the $L_{25}(5^4)$ orthogonal array is used to obtain the variations of the design variables in the narrowed search range. The variations of design variables are used to set the structure of a polynomial equation representing the leakage oil volume of the quick-acting hydraulic fuse. The least squares method is then applied to obtain the coefficients of polynomial equation. Finally, the complex method is used to find the optimal design parameters where the objective function is described by the polynomial equation.

  • 자구형 오일 로터리 펌프의 정전시 오일 역류를 방지하기 위한 간단한 구조 장치로 역류 방지형 센터링 (anti suck back centering, ASBC)을 개발하고 배기 특성을 평가하기 위하여 소형 배기 시스템 (mini vacuum system)과 개인용 컴퓨터, AD converter (National instrument, NI-6009), 터치 패널 기반의 자동 제어 시스템을 제작하였다. 본 연구에서는 ASBC의 배기 특성을 확인하였고, 배기 특성을 해석하기 위하여 3차원 전산 유체 해석 프로그램인 CFD-ACE+를 사용하여 점성 유동 영역에서 유동장을 해석하였다. 그리고 평활도를 개선한 ASBC의 리크양을 측정 하였다.

Greenhouse Gas Emission Analysis by LNG Fuel Tank Size through Life Cycle

  • As greenhouse gas emissions from maritime transport are increasing, the International Maritime Organization is continuously working to strengthen emission regulations. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel is less advantageous as a point of CO2 reduction due to the methane leakage that occurs during the bunkering and operation of marine engines. In this study, greenhouse gas emissions from an LNG-fueled ship were analyzed from the perspective of the life cycle. The amount ofmethane emission during the bunkering and operation procedures with various boil-off gas (BOG) treatment methods and gas engine specifications was analyzed by dynamic simulation. The results were also compared with those of other liquid fuel engines. As a result, small LNG-fueled ships without a BOG treatment facility emitted 32% more greenhouse gas than ships utilizing marine gas oil or heavy fuel oil. To achieve a greenhouse gas reduction via a BOG treatment method, a gas combustion unit or re-liquefaction system must be mounted, which results in a greenhouse gas reduction effect of about 25% and 30%. As a result of comparing the amount of greenhouse gas generated according to the BOG treatment method used with each tank size from the perspective of the operating cycle with the amounts from using existing marine fuels, the BOG treatment method showed superior effects of greenhouse gas reduction.

궤도차량 변속오류 예방을 위한 품질개선 (Quality Improvement to Prevent Shifting Error of Tracked Vehicles)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the causes of shifting errors reported in military tracked vehicles and to improve related quality to prevent recurrence. Methods: A systematic disassembly and inspection of the transmission is carried out and an experimental simulation is conducted to reproduce the shifting error phenomenon. Electrical characteristic tests are subsequently performed and microscopic observation is also carried out on the disassembled connector parts such as pins and fractured surfaces. Results: Oil contamination and swelling deformation are observed in the connector to the vehicle due to oil leakage of its counterpart connector to the transmission. This causes electrical contact failure between both connectors in the fastened state, and it is found that shifting error of the tracked vehicle could occur subsequently. To prevent the recurrence of this phenomenon, comprehensive quality improvement is conducted including product improvement of the wiring harness assembly and strengthening activities for quality control and preventive maintenance. Conclusion: This study is expected to be helpful as a prior case study for cause analysis and recurrence prevention in the event of similar cases in the future.
