  • High speed camera is very important and essential device to analyze the motion of fast moving object in detail. This paper describes the basic concepts of the high speed film camera and high speed digital camera and the history and future technical trends in high speed camera industry. P/2010 A2: Dynamical properties of dust and fragments

  • We revisited a recent dust emission observed at a main-belt asteroid P/2010 A2 in terms of dynamical properties of dust particles and large fragments. This is a continued research that we made a presentation at the Korean Astronomical Society 2016 Spring Meeting, but we have strengthened the dynamical analysis of the ejecta to afford the conclusive evidence for the enigmatic phenomenon. We thus constructed a model to reproduce the morphology of the dust cloud based on the dust dynamics, and succeeded in reproducing the observed morphologies in different epochs over several years. For further analysis, we reconstructed the proper motion of large fragments with respect to the dust emission source estimated from our dust model. We found that (i) the dust cloud morphologies and (ii) observed trajectories of fragments are reasonably explained only when we assumed that both were ejected from a position where no object was detected from any observations. This result suggests that the original body was shattered by an impact, leaving only debris into space. In this presentation, we will compare our results with impact laboratory studies and provide an impact interpretation of the P/2010 A2 activity.

  • In this paper, we present a new technique for extraction of moving objects in moving image sequence. The detection method of change regions is based on spatial gradient difference and temporal difference. Moving objects are extracted by motion information and prediction error of each region. In the simulation results, the proposed technique shows good performance.

  • In lossy compression method, the transformed coefficients are quantized. This results in the quantization noise. The video image quality and bit rate is closely related with the quantization step. In this paper, we proposed a new quantization function for the improved performance. The DC value of each macroblock is compensated depending on the magnitude of DC quantization error. It is implemented very low bit-rate video coding, i.e., H.26L. The experimental result is useful when the object motion is not severe.

  • A new monitoring system is proposed to give direct visual information of the remote site when working with a tele-operation system.   • This paper describes the path planning of an autonomous mobile robot using one camera-based sequence image processing. As an assumption, all objects in front of the mobile robot are located on the same plane where robot moves. Using the moving camera grounded on the autonomous mobile robot, the robot extracts the angular points of obstacle objects, calculates the height using the assumption and discrepancy between two consecutive images.   • A new measurement method to measure vibrational motions of objects is presented. The original principle is similar to the previous work that utilized a 3-facet mirror to obtain three dimensional positions and orientations of rigid bodies.   • The objective of this study is to replace labor intensive forging processes by an automated system. For achieving it, an exclusive mechanism that consists of a positioner, an arm, and a hanger is configured to handle hot forging objects. Also, a structural analysis is applied to the horizontal motion unit, which is the most highly loaded, in order to verify its validity. In addition, its possibility is also verified through identifying the performance of the proposed system before applying it to sites. As a result, the major characteristic items, such as positioning accuracy, material diameter, object traveling weight, product failure rate, and forging process rate, in this system are perfectly verified for applying it to manufacturing sites.

  • In the semiconductor and the optical industry a new transport system which can replace the conventional sliding system is required. These systems are driven by magnetic field and conveyer belt. The magnetic field damages semiconductor and contact force scratches the optical lens. The ultrasonic wave driven system can solve these problem. In this paper, the vibration behavior of flexural beam in the ultrasonic transport system is verified using Laser Scanning Vibrometer. The experiments for verifying vibration are performed in three conditions such as in the maximum transport speed, in the zero speed, and in the change of transport direction.
