  • The purpose of this study is a descriptive study to confirm the relationship between medical infection prevention knowledge, infection control confidence, and standard practice of nursing students and to understand the effect on performance for standard precautions. Data collection was conducted on 160 nursing students located in G Metropolitan City from October 4 to October 12, 2018. As a result of the study, the performance for standard precautions has a positive correlation with 'infection prevention knowledge' (r=.27, p<.001) and infection control confidence (r=.52, p<.001), and infection prevention knowledge was found to have a significant correlation with infection control confidence (r=.27, p=012). Factors affecting the performance for standard precaution of nursing students were in order of infection control confidence (𝛽=.45, p<.001), no skin contact experience (𝛽=.18, p<.004), infection prevention education (𝛽=-2.65, p<.009), infection prevention knowledge (𝛽=.15, p<.019). and the explanatory power of the model was 35%. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop and implement a standard precautions program that can increase infection prevention knowledge and infection management confidence in order to increase the performance for standard precautions of nursing students.

Our objective is to identify specific measures to enhance nursing performance by understanding how these factors influence overall nursing work outcomes. Participants were nurses working at long-term care hospitals in B city and G city. Data were collected with structured questionnaires from February 1 to February 25, 2018. Data were analyzed SPSS 22.0 program for descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. Factors which had effect on nursing performance were self-leadership(β=.415, p<.001), age(β=.251, p=.001), social supports(β=.206, p<.001), job stress(β=-.159, p=.001) and position(β=.102, p=.047). We anticipate that the findings of this study, which reflects the job characteristics of nurses in long-term care hospitals, can serve as foundational data for the development of intervention programs related to nursing performance. These results can contribute to the creation of programs aimed at improving nursing outcomes in accordance with the unique work characteristics of nurses in long-term care settings.

  • The study investigates how the structured debriefing method affects the learning flow, critical thinking disposition, and clinical performance of nursing students, using the Lasater Clinical Judgment Rubric (LCJR). Nursing students in the 4th grade of P University were divided into three groups, each trying out a different structured debriefing method: the experimental group - structured video debriefing using the LCJR question, the comparative group - structured oral debriefing, and the control group - structured group discussion debriefing. There was no significant difference between the three groups in learning flow (p=.640), critical thinking disposition (p=.420) and clinical performance ability (p=.360). Planning and intervention among the areas of clinical performance were significantly improved in the experimental group compared to the other two groups (p=.005). Structured debriefing when used with LCJR improves the learning flow and critical thinking disposition of students, while structured video debriefing improves clinical performance.
