입도분포의 특징분석에 종래의 조직특성치 대신 수치해석적인 분해법의 적용을 시 도하였다. 그 결과 이 방법이 제주해협의 대륙붕 표층퇴적물과 같은 복모드형 입 도분포의 분석에 매우 유용함이 입증 되었다. 복모드형 입도분포 퇴적물은 제주해협 대륙붕에서는 86%의 높은 비율을 점한다. 종래의 입도특성치(평균, 표준편차, 왜도, 첨도)는 복모드형 입도분포에 대해서는 왜곡된 값을 보인다. 따라서 입도분포의 모드 에 대체로 대응되는 정규성분으로 분해해서 각 정규성분의 특성치를 해석함으로써 입 도특성치에서와 같은 특징의 누락이나 왜곡을 피할 수 있다. 제주해협 대륙붕의 167개 퇴적물 입도분포곡선을 비선형 최소자승법을 사용하여 정규성분으로 분해해서 총 387 개의 정규성분을 얻었다. 정규성분의 평균은 1-3 phi 8-9 phi에 집중되는 것이 많다. 이중 조립질 정규성분의 평균치는 복잡하고 특징적인 지리적 분포를 보인다. 이러한 분포는 퇴적물 총층후 분포와 매우 유사하며 해저면의 지질과 지형을 면밀하게 반영하 고 있다. 해저면을 형성하는 퇴적층은 플라이스토세 후기의 해침성 모래층이며 해저지 형은 플라이스토세말 빙하기 저해수면시기의 침식에 의해 형성된 것으로 보인다.

The predictive density function of a potential future observation and its first four moments are obtained in this paper to study the effects of a non-normal prior of the unknown mean of a normal population. The derived predictive density function is modified to study changes in utility curves, used to choose the optimum treatment from a given set of treatments, at a given level of stimulus due to slight deviations from normality of the prior distribution. Numerical illustrations are provided to exhibit some effectsl.

This paper investigates a normal induced voltage according to earth resistivity from distribution lines using calculation method of the normal induced voltage on telecommunication line. The induced voltage according to earth resistivity from distribution lines is verified by vector analysis and EMTP(Electro-Magnetic Transients Program).

The bone alkaline phosphatase(BALP) in 130 sera of normal dogs were assayed according to the lectin precipitation method of Rosalki and Foo. The serum BALP activities showed a wide variation as $23.27({\pm}14.73)$ IU/L in young dogs from 6weeks to 12 months old and were lower in magnitude as $9.24({\pm}3.36)$ IU/L in elder dogs from 1 years to 6years old. The serum BALP activities in normal dogs were no significant correlation in sex.

Estimation of liver size is essential in the diagnosis of liver disease, Many approaches have been attempted in evaluation of liver size such as the measurement of length, area and volume. Among these, area and volume measurements are accurate but complicated, so we commonly use formerly introduced various linear measurements, but in scintigraphy one must calculate the actual liver size using rate of reduction, which is time consuming. Because of these reasons, we carried out present study to represent liver size by means of a simple liver measurement like we express the cardiac size by cardiothoracic ratio. Our cases consisted of 100 clinically normal subjects as the normal group and 50 patients suffering from liver disease and diagnosed to have hepatomegaly on abdominal palpation and scintigram at Dept, of Radiology of St. Mary's Hospital, Catholic Medical College during the period of 8 months from Jan. 1980. We measured the liver size using 4 linear diameters(Fig. 1). And as the reference measurement, the distance from the right margin of the liver to the left margin of the spleen was measured. We called this "abdominal transverse diameter(ATD)". The results were as follows; 1) The smallest value was recorded in the midline vertical diameter (MVD). It was $4.2{\pm}0.4cm$ in normal group and $5.0{\pm}0.6cm$ in the hepatomegaly group. 2) The diameter using other methods ranged from 5.6 to 7.2 cm in the normal group and from 6.3 to 7.5cm in the hepatomegaly group. 3) There was significant difference in the ratio of each diameter to ATD between the normal and hepatomegaly group (<0.01). We called this "hepato-abdominal ratio". 4) The "hepato-abdominal ratio" using MVD is $0.43{\pm}0.06$ in the normal group and $0.53{\pm}0.07$ in the hepatomegaly group. The "hepato-abdominal ratio" of MVD was most significantly different between normal and hepatomegaly group. 5) The tolerance limits(99%) of "hepato-abdominal ratio" using MVD is from 0.41 to 0.45 in the normal group and from 0.51 to 0.55 in the hepatomegaly group. Therefore, by reasons of error during measurement and convenience of memory, it was warranted to suggest hepatomegaly when "hepato-abdominal ratio" using MVD is more than 0.5 in the interpretation of hepatic scintigram.

This review has been done to examine sex-linked dwarf gene in broiler production in hot-humid climates. Introduction of sex-linked dwarf gene especially in hot harsh tropical environments brings a great advantage for broiler production. The heavy broiler parent suffers due to the stress of these adverse climates. Sex-linked dwarf genes reduce body weight, egg weight, but are superior for adaptability under harsh tropical environments, with a lower requirement for housing and feed, better survivability and reproductive fitness giving fewer defective eggs, more hatching eggs, better fertility, hatchability, feed conversion efficiency and resistance to disease. Overall the cost of chick production from dwarf hens is lower than from their normal siblings. Market weights of broilers from sexlinked dwarf dams is almost similar to those of broilers from normal dams with normal sires. But the net benefit of broiler production from sex-linked dwarf dams is found to be greater than that of broilers from normal dams. This will be the most important to the rural communities in Bangladesh and in other countries where the similar environment and socio-economic conditions exist. Therefore, sexlinked dwarf hens might be used in broiler breeding plan as well as broiler production in the tropics.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the concentrations of Leukotriene B4 in relation to the clinical symptom of pulpitis in human dental pulp. Pulps obtained from 3 groups of teeth: normal uniflamed teeth(N=22), asymptomatic teeth with deep caries or large restorations(N = 21) and symptomatic teeth with the clinical diagnosis of irreversible pulpitis(N = 15). Pulps were dissected from normal un inflamed teeth and extirpated from asymptomatic and symptomatic teeth during routine endodontic treatment and stored in liquid nitrogen ($-70^{\circ}C$). The levels of Leukotriene B4 in individual or pooled pulps were measured by radioimmunoassay and the mean levels of each group were compared statistically(Kruskall-Wallis oneway ANOVA test). The results were as followings : 1. In normal pulp, low levels of Leukotriene B4 were measured. 2. In pulps from asymptomatic and symptomatic teeth had significantly higher levels of Leukotriene B4 than normal pulps(p<0.01). 3. The levels of Leukotriene B4 in pulps from symptomatic teeth were significantly higher than those of pulps from asymptomatic teeth(p<0.01). These results suggest that Leukotriene B4 play a cretain role in inflammatory process of dental pulp and have a relationship with clinical symptoms of pulpitis.

요즘 우리 사회는 급속히 고령화 사회로 변화되고 있다. 고령화 사회에서는 치매에 대하여 잘 아는 것이 매우 중요한 일이다. 따라서 본 연구는 기본적으로 치매환자로부터 측정한 EEG 신호의 특성을 파악하는 것을 목표로 한다. 먼저 그것을 위하여 치매환자와 정상인의 EEG 특성을 구분하기 위하여 두 그룹의 자발 EEG 신호를 분석하였다. EEG 신호는 16개의 전극으로 계측하였고, 그 신호들은 주파수대역으로 분류하여 분석하였다. 보다 선명한 EEG 신호로 처리하기 위해서는 2개의 채널 간에 상호상관함수를 적용하였다. 그 결과, 치매환자와 정상인의 EEG 신호의 특성은 분명히 다르다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다.
