Investigating Consumer Innovativeness for New Media Infusion: Role of Literacy in the Context of OTT Services in Korea

  • Consumer innovativeness plays a vital role in explaining consumer dynamics, such as adoption, usage, and behavioral intention, in the new world of disruptive online media. This empirical study aimed to examine the importance of consumer innovativeness and digital literacy in the adoption and expansion of new technology-based media services, focusing on OTT services. Extending the theory of adoption of new technologies by innovators to new media environment centered on OTT services, it examines the influence of the four dimensions of motivated consumer innovativeness on OTT service usage. The Korea Media Panel Data of 2019, where overall ICT usage and media consumption of a broad panel of respondents was collected, was used for the analysis. From the data of 10,864 respondents, 4,031 (37.1%) were found to have experience in using OTT services. To clarify the mediating effect of digital literacy on the correlations between cognitive innovativeness of consumers and their use of OTT services, Process Macro Model 4 was used. The bootstrap method was applied to reveal that all four dimensions of consumer innovativeness have a significant indirect effect on new media usage through digital literacy, thus indicating how digital literacy plays an important role in the spread of new digital services in addition to consumer innovativeness. The findings are important in that they can help in the efforts to introduce new technologies to the public and educate them to improve their digital literacy so that they can enjoy the complete experience of using these new digital products.

  • This study is a sustainability study of K-Music beyond K-Pop through New Media. New media literally means 'new media'. When TV, classified as legacy media, first appeared in the world, it was an innovative new media platform. Of course, it is considered the most traditional legacy media. However, the definition of new media inevitably changes with the times. Most of the media called new media today are based on online and mobile. This thesis focuses on popular music including crossover traditional music genre. And we define popular music exported abroad as K-pop, and propose the possibility of globalization of Korean music using K-pop users and new media, a metaverse based K-pop audition platform, as consumers and suppliers in the global market. Hallyu, the studying of K-Pop through the study of attitudes and economic effects of K-pop, such as reactions to the spread of K-pop and the reactions of fans who like K-pop, are constantly being discussed in various ways. But there has been no case of cultural technology research that linked the sustainability of Gugak as the Korean music through new media to the K-pop business platform. As the overflowing data pours out in the virtual space as an act that gives the meaning of existence, the online is able to become an open market that provides reliable information all over the world. Therefore we would like to propose on the sustainability of Korean music through the 'Korean Traditional Music Broadcasting Metaverse Audition' beyond the K-pop business model as the K-Music content in the cultural technology era.

  • This study explores how the media covered the new media agenda in the process of the diffusion of new media and what the press's attitude about new media policy is according to the relationship between the press and the government based on the political tendency. For this, this study conducted network analysis. The agreement of political tendency between the press and the government is important variable to decide the attitude of the press about the new media policy. Under the conservative government, the conservative press supported the new media policy, however the opposite opposed it Even if opinion page can take an important role in the process of public opinion, the tone pf editorial page on the new media policy differs from its political tendency. It costs tremendous investment in introducing new media, journalists have judge.

  • The advent of new media resulted in the revolutionary change of human way of life, which have big influence on the society and new culture other than that of the past appeared. This study aims preparing indicators of digital display space which meets with paradigm of the new age by studying characteristics of expression of new media in digital display space. his study searched for their meaning and possibilities by analyzing their characteristics of expression through cases of digital display space at homeand overseas since 1990s with key words of characteristics of expression of new media. Characteristics of expression in modern digital display space are characterized by immateriality, interrelated actions, nature of non-rectilineal figure, space is immaterial and abstract by new media, and new aesthetics completed by expression of images. Accordingly, we expect that this study will be the medium of development of digital display space which is developed more and communicated mutually by rapidly understanding changes of digital display space in the future.

  • Cross-Media Storytelling(CMS) is the new method of media representation. It picks the features and the elements in one media, and uses them in another media. 'Remediation' in digital era uses the content of old media in new form based on new technology. But 'CMS' represents the basic elements of the media experience in each unique style of media. It changes the focus from the technology to experience. So CMS is the new strategy of the media not based on the new technology. Adam PESapane's (2006) is a example for this strategy. It takes the game media as a subject matter. But it expresses the meta-representation of game experience in the "stop motion animation" Especially it emphasizes the narrative chain between the usual phenomenon and the visual imagination. And it shows the possibility of representation of new media experience in the old media genre. So it suggests the conditions of CMS.

  • Recently, the animation market requires a new consumption form of animation contents that can meet the trend and environment of a new era. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to seek new changes in paradigm by analyzing the animation examples from media to media in order to confirm in which form animation genres are changed in the ers of media convergence. The finding shows that the paradigm changes in animation are essentially caused by the development of internet communication technology, the interactiveness, and the emergence of new media by media characteristics. As a result, the environment of consumption involves the introduction of active marketing centered on personal media and the new insight into the genre of animation, and the industry of animation has a high possibility of developing into a leading industry in the future based on the development of creation technology and on the paradigm of empirical economy and requires the animation education based on new media. This study will find its significance in that it may provide the basis of study in terms of theory and practice of the creation animation research focused on new media.

  • A new form of media is changing the expression and content of fashion. In this paper, fashion films that have appeared since 2010 - when digital fashion communication was increasing - will be discussed and explored to consider how technological transitions in fashion media are changing the appearance and role of fashion. A literature review was conducted to derive characteristics, types, and expressive elements of new media fashion films, which were defined for this study as fashion films produced and distributed since 2010 using digital media. Films were categorized into three types: promotional, editorial, and independent fashion films. Furthermore, elements of the films were identified as fashion mise-en-scene, auditory structure, and content structure. Types and expressions of digital fashion images in 40 fashion films were analyzed according to these elements. The results showed that promotional fashion films maximize various narrative and sensory effects on fashion products, whilst editorial fashion films strengthen the role of entertainment. Independent fashion films expand the area of fashion and promote the diversification of fashion systems. Moreover, the results show that fashion films are not a secondary form of media that just expresses fashion; they provide a tool for the creation of new fashion content. New media fashion films promote the expansion of expressive spectra and boundaries, offering various multisensory experiences of fashion, and enhancing creativity and the aesthetic values of fashion.

  • By the 1990s, Database Online Searching and CD-ROM Searching have been used universally in libraries. Due to their ease of use and facilitation, it is believed that such new media searching will produce more benefits than the usual printed materials. Furthermore, from the library management's point view, the new media searching's ability to minimize holding space will be another example of the advantage. The new media searching will have ever the printed materials. However, since it Is necessary to have an objective appraisal of the cost effectiveness in the implementation and the design of the new media system, it will be compared the new media searching with the conventional searching by using printed materials at the KIEP Library and Data Bank.

  • The revolution of new media has overthrown the existing social structure and brought about the changes in the concepts of the space and subject. These changes are identical to the existential issue of the space and subject and to fundamental issue of spatial design. This study will interpret the new media in view of ontology and analyze the characteristics by applying it to spatial design. In this study, the characteristics of new media of ontological viewpoint were divided into six categories containing the process space, the space of exterior meaning, the space of the affairs, interactive subject, playful subject and extension of sense, which were the basis for this analysis. The results showed that the expression characteristics of spatial concept of ontology and subject concepts revealed in the areas of architectural surface, the space of art and installation, and architectural design process.
