  • This study notes that the concept of painterliness, as defined by Heinrich $W{\ddot{o}}lfflin$, can apply to represent features in $Micha{\ddot{e}}l$, Dudok de Wit's animated short film Father and Daughter. It intends to examine the animated film's visual representation and narrative features in terms of painterliness. Comparing the Renaissance art style of the 16th century to the Baroque art style of the 17th century, $W{\ddot{o}}lfflin$ conceptualized the features of painterly style. In respect to this animated film, the images drawn by drawing tools are represented are represented by irregular and ambiguous shapes and meet $W{\ddot{o}}lfflin^{\prime}s$ conditions for painterly representation. Such a representation method in this animated film effectively functions as a double entendre or ambiguous narrative, while playing a key role in representing lyricism. In this animated film, painterliness contrasts with clarity, which commercial animated films provide, and plays a critical role in the representation methods utilized by auteurist animation directors. Painterliness in animated films is an element that should be highlighted, especially in the contemporary world where the forms of representation are becoming increasingly monolithic due to digital techniques. Continued research is greatly needed on this subject matter. Based on Father and Daughter, this study aims to examine the method of painterly representation that can be used in animation films, to explore its meaning and to underscore the importance of diversity in the forms of representation in animated films.

  • Alternate reality games (ARGs) are a game genre with characteristics that can lead to changes in current integrated media environments. While technical combinations are being pursued as diverse media are utilized based on formative aspects, the representative, narrative combination of the real and the virtual is a convergent factor in narrative structures. Through perspectives that perceive transmedia storytelling-which has brought convergence to communication among gamers-as having a structure and utility that can outclass previous game forms, this study focuses on ARGs, which have features that converge reality and virtual reality. Further, the study reveals the structure and utility of that system. This study sheds light convergent storytelling, which is in demand in the transmedia age, and which will serve as a significant investigation with regard to social perceptions of future games and changes in game form.

  • "Gone with the wind"(1939, Directed by Victor Fleming) was produced in the stylistic conventions of the classical hollywood cinema, and thus the musical employment also followed the norms of the style, such as late Romantic musical style, serving the narrative, signifier of emotion, and giving continuity and unity. But, at the same time, the statement of the classical theory that the music hides and tailors itself to support the drama - invisibility, inaudibility, narrative cuing and so on - does not seem to explain the musical employment of "Gone with the wind." On the contrary, it hires music to put itself forward, and often times it stops the narrative to show musical spectacles for which the image is tailored to fit the music. These are more of music theatre or music drama features rather than the conventional underscore of the films in that period. In this study analysed the musical employment of "Gone with the wind" to see how it took full advantage of music to lead the narrative in a more active way and to make musical spectacles, by borrowing the technique and style of music theatre, such as, overture and entr'acte, similarities with film musicals, Wagnerism influence, and the use of songs.

  • I already wrote a thesis about A Study of Ideologies and Stylistic Features of the Oral Narratives in a Collection of Lee, Duck Moo's Works(ChungJangKwanJunseo)" in The Classical Literature and Education Vol.11, (2006). At that time I held over a study of figure's episodes. So this essay is a series of the thesis. In this essay, I described his critical ideas about the figure's episodes of other people. I classified as the gentry's episodes and the common's episodes, and ones more classified these as the Confucian's moral episodes and the oddity's strange episodes. And I studied the narrative principles and features of narrative structure. He asked for a reasonal thinking attitude in the figure's episodes of other people. In his the gentry's episodes he indicated as a important value the constant attitude of propriety and dignity. The other hand, in his the common's episodes he thought importantly a practical act of the Confucian's moral. He showed man's equality and criticized the anti-practical attitude of the gentry group. In the oddity's strange episodes were focused on the super ability of figures in the both of groups. And then even though there are unreal or unreasonable contents in the oddity's strange episodes, he did not criticize. His such attitude was came out to take interest in unreal story like the Paesasopeum(稗史小品). The the narrative principles of his episodes are two types, one is a summary or a report type, the other is a descriptive of events type. the former was explained by narrater, the latter was described as the indirect or direct narration of the characters. In the structure of narrative in case a summary type were enumerated with the episodes, but in case a report or descriptive type of events were contrasted with characters. A story-telling way of figure's episodes borrowed from 'Jeon(傳)' or 'Yadam(野談)' genre. And a point of view in case a summary or a report type was consisted with a center of narrater, in case a descriptive of events type was consisted with a center of witness.

  • This article aims to develop various cultural contents from Sam-guk Sokakgasa(korean folksongs in ancient times) through analyzing features of it with narrative structures and discourse forms of Seymour Chatman. Rhythms and rhymes of the Sam-guk Sokakgasa hardly exist, only brief stories about the origins of songs are present. However, with interactions of current cultual contents, a brandnew cultural content can be developed from Sam-guk Sokakgasa through creative modification. In this view, narrative structures of Sam-guk Sokakgasa was analyzed using Seymour Chatman's method. Through this analysis, it can be concluded that Sam-guk Sokakgasa has complete narrative structures, thus can be developed into new cultural contents by media interaction. And it can be also said that in cases which Sam-guk Sokakgasa has weak narrative structure, if its narrative structure has enough universality, it also can be developed as cultural contents.

  • This case study aimed to develop a therapeutic rap protocol based on narrative components for improving discourse skills of adolescents with mild intellectual disability (ID) and to explore its applicability. The protocol matched narrative elements (background, initiating event, internal response, attempts, and reaction) with rap components (verse, hook, and interjections), guiding participants to narrate their experiences in a connected discourse form. The protocol was also structured to gradually increase in difficulty, considering the developmental levels of adolescents with ID and it included steps for understanding discourse structures, applying narrative elements to content creation, and expanding narratives. Post-intervention analysis of the stories and rap lyrics created by participants to express their real-life experiences showed that participants increased the length of their stories and rap compositions, with notable improvements in rhythmicity and the inclusion of narrative elements. These findings suggest that, instead of constructing rap from random utterances, providing a structured framework reflecting discourse structure enhanced participants' understanding of event context and logical connections. Furthermore, the various elements and rhythmic features of rap can strengthen motivation and organization in discourse. This study highlights the therapeutic potential of rap in addressing the unique developmental needs of adolescents with mild ID, thereby diversifying and systematizing music therapy interventions for this population.
