  • In this paper, we proposed and analyzed the performance of the partial SSPIC (Successive Serial Parallel Interference Cancellation ) scheme adopting modified successive serial interference cancellation (SIC) scheme. Modified partial successive serial cancellation (SIC) stage is used to effectively shorten interference cancellation delay. Performance is analyzed in Rayleigh fading channel with both perfect and imperfect channel estimation. From the results, proposed partial SSPIC I and II multiuser detectors can shorten effectively a detection delay at first SIC stage. The partial SSPIC type l detector outperformed the conventional concatenated SICPIC detector in both performance and capacity and type ll detector maintains similar performance. Proposed partial SSPIC multiuser detector can effectively improve the system performance without excessive detection delay.

  • In this study, we examine the effect of spreading sequence matched filtering on the power parameters of ultrawideband (UWB) multiuser interference (MUI) under different multiple access (MA) scenarios. More specifically, we investigate the manner in which the length of the sequence MF affects the average power, peak power, and the peak-to-average ratio (PAR) of the matched filtered version of an MUI signal. The results of the analysis performed for a simplified scenario are supported by the simulation results obtained for a realistic multipath environment.

  • Precoder has been shown to be able to provide source diversity and design flexibility. In this paper we employ precoding techniques for block transmission based on a multirate filterbank structure. To accommodate multiuser communication with variable data rates, different precoders with corresponding coefficients and up/down sampling rates are used. However, due to unknown multipath distortion, different interferences may exist in the received data, such as multiuser interference, intersymbol interference and interblock interference. To estimate channel parameters for a desired user, we employ all structured signature waveforms associated with different symbols of that user and apply subspace techniques. Therefore better performance of channel estimator can be achieved than the conventional subspace method based only on the signature of the current symbol. The delay for that user can also be jointly estimated. Channel identifiability conditions and asymptotic channel estimation error are investigated in detail. Numerical examples are provided to justify the proposed method. gest either multicode (MC) or multiple processing gain (MPG) mechanism [2], while requiring data rates to be integral multiples of some basic low-rate. In order to support variable rate transmission however, a comprehensive scheme needs to be investigated.

  • In this paper we compare linear and non-linear inter-ference cancellation for systems employing code division multi-ple access (CDMA) techniques. Specifically, we examine linear and non-linear parallel interference cancellation(also called multi-stage cancellation) in relationship to other multiuser detection al-gorithms. We show the explicit relationship between parallel inter-ference cancellation and the decorrelator (or direct matrix inver-sion). This comparison gives insight into the performance of paral-lel interference cancellation (PIC) and leads to vetter approaches. We also show that non-linear PIC approaches with explicit chan-nel setimation can provide performance improvement over linear PIC, especially when using soft non-linear symbol estimates. The application of interference cancellation to non-linear modulation techniques is also presented along with a discussion on minimum mean-squared error(MMSE) symbol estimation techniques. These are shown to further improve the performance of parallel cancella-tion.

  • This paper concentrates on developing and analyzing an advanced space-time multiuser receiver for WCDMA forward link. Through exploring the interference caused by co-channel users and delayed multipaths in CDMA, a constrained linear adaptive filter is adopted to cancel the interference. Furthermore, by utilizing the space-time diversity, an optimum diversity receiver, called a constrained adaptive space-time interference canceller (C-ASTIC), is proposed. For comparison, the statistical analysis of multiuser performance for WCDMA system with space-time diversity is described. The result of the simulation showed that C-ASTIC performs better than both the space-time diversity combining maximal ratio combiner (MRC) and the single-antenna adaptive interference canceller in a multipath fading channel. Also, the efficiency of the C-ASTIC in the multimedia communication environment is investigated under the multiuser, multi-transmit antenna, and multirate WCDMA system in a multipath fading channel. From the results, the C-ASTIC was validated to be useful for multi-rate WCDMA system through improving the performance gain by more than 3 dB at BER of 10$\^$-3/ in a half or more loaded system.

  • In this paper, the performance of the MMSE multiauser deteclor was analyzed with the SNR from the standpoint of the exproient, according to the multiuser, In was analyzed not only at the AWGN channel, but at the fading channel also. With the result of this test, the MMSE multiuser detector showed better performance of multi-connection interference in comparison with comon deterctors. However, its disadvantageis that the hardware turns out to be too complicated and that it requires too many calculations. Because of multi-connectioninterference that happens as a result of spreading code horizontally, the DS/CDMA system, which contatins the same frequency and time, turns out to thve interference according to the quality of the call and the number of users. In order to solve these problems, an adaptive MMSE multiuser detector is suggested. To increase the system's processing gain, the hardware's complexity can be reduced by establishing the number of taps wirhin the detector.

  • Channel inversion is one of the simplest techniques for multiuser downlink systems with single-antenna users. In this paper, we extend the regularized channel inversion technique developed for the single-antenna user case to multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels with multiple-antenna users. We first employ the multiuser preprocessing to project the multiuser signals near the null space of the unintended users based on the MMSE criterion, and then the single-user preprocessing is applied to the decomposed MIMO interference channels. In order to reduce the complexity, we focus on non-iterative solutions for the multiuser transmit beamforming and use a linear receiver based on an MMSE criterion. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms existing joint iterative algorithms in most multiuser configurations.

  • The performance of a multi-carrier CDMA system is analyzed considering frequency selective multipath fading and Near/Far effects. The number of multicarrier, multiuser, and arms of RAKE receiver, and the decay ratio of frequency selective multipath fading are used as a parameter for the performance analysis. More over, the distribution and the strength of multiuser interference are also considered. To evaluated the Near/Far effects in a multi-carrier CDMA system, three distribution models are assumed. In the first model. interference to carrier Ratio, I/C, ranges form -4 dB to 4dB, and at each 2 dB interval 20 % of multiuser is assumed to be uniformly distributed. In the second one, I/C ranges from -2 dB to 2 dB, and 33.3% of multiuser is assumed to be equally dispersed at each 2dB interval. The third model is 0 dB of I/C, that is, with perfect power control, multiuser are assumed to be evenly located. In this paper, multi-carrier CDMA system adoption RAKE receiver is proposed to mitigate the frequency selective multipath fading. Form the results, the third model(i.e. perfect power control)shows the best performance, and the narrower range of I/C causes the less effects to the desired signal, which reads to the better performance.

  • We consider the use of error control coding in direct sequence-code-division multiple access (OS-COMA) systems that employ multiuser detection (MUO) and space diversity. The relative performance gain between Reed-Solomon (RS) code and convolutional code (CC) is well known in [1] for the single user, additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. In this case, RS codes outperform CC's at high signal-to-noise ratios. We find that this is not the case for the multiuser interference channel mentioned above. For useful error rates, we find that soft-decision CC's to be uniformly better than RS codes when used with DS-COMA modulation in multiuser space-time channels. In our development, we use the Gaussian approximation on the interference to determine performance error bounds for systems with low number of users. Then, we check their accuracy in error rate estimation via system's simulation. These performance bounds will in turn allow us to consider a large number of users where we can estimate the gain in user-capacity due to channel coding. Lastly, the use of turbo codes is considered where it is shown that they offer a coding gain of 2.5 dB relative to soft-decision CC.

  • Lattice reduction (LR) has been used widely in conventional multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems to enhance the performance. However, LR is hard to be applied to the relay systems which are important but more complicated in the wireless communication theory. This paper introduces a new viewpoint for utilizing LR in multiuser MIMO relay systems. The vector precoding (VP) is designed along with zero force (ZF) criterion and minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion and enhanced by LR algorithm. This implementable precoder design combines nonlinear processing at the base station (BS) and linear processing at the relay. This precoder is capable of avoiding multiuser interference (MUI) at the mobile stations (MSs) and achieving excellent performance. Moreover, it is shown that the amount of feedback information is much less than that of the singular value decomposition (SVD) design. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme using the complex version of the Lenstra--Lenstra--Lovász (LLL) algorithm significantly improves system performance.
