  • This paper describes a simple pseudo-random carrier modulation technique for the acoustic noise reduction of the three phase multi-level inverter based motor drives. The proposed method generates a new pseudo-random carrier by randomly synthesizing a carrier with fixed frequency and a carrier with opposition phase. To confirm the validity of the proposed method, a 130v three-phase multi-level inverter was Implemented and tested. The experimental results show that the output line voltage and acoustic noise harmonics spectra of an inverter have broadening effect of harmonics, as only simple synthesis of fixed frequency carries.

  • Rapid time variations of the mobile communication channel have a dramatic effect on the performance of multi-carrier modulation. This paper analyzed the bit error rate (BER) performance for multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) network, and derived the equivalent signal-to-total noise plus interference(SNIR) of MC-CDMA system in the reverse link, the performance of MC-CDMA/BPSK signal is evaluated taking into account the fraction of partial-band interference and interference power. and the effect of partial-band interference is comprehensively studied in order to further improve the Qos of multi-carrier multimedia system.

  • In this paper, we consider subcarrier-index modulation (SIM) for precoded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with a few activated subcarriers per user and its generalization to multi-carrier multiple access systems. The resulting multiple access is called sparse index multiple access (SIMA). SIMA can be considered as a combination of multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) and SIM. Thus, SIMA is able to exploit a path diversity gain by (random) spreading over multiple carriers as MC-CDMA. To detect multiple users' signals, a low-complexity detection method is proposed by exploiting the notion of compressive sensing (CS). The derived low-complexity detection method is based on the orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm, which is one of greedy algorithms used to estimate sparse signals in CS. From simulation results, we can observe that SIMA can perform better than MC-CDMA when the ratio of the number of users to the number of multi-carrier is low.

  • In order to satisfy 5th generation mobile system's requirements, recently many works have been done in various layers. Especially in physical layer, new waveforms like Filter bank Multi-Carrier(FBMC), Universal Filtered Multi-Carrier(UFMC), Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing(GFDM) have been proposed and their performance have been evaluated. But most previous researches have provided limited information by comparing couple new waveforms each other with different assumptions and simulation parameters. In this paper, we investigate the key technique of each 5G new waveform, and compare them in various aspects and the same simulation environment, and finally provide what waveform is appropriate in different application scenarios.

  • This paper describes a pseudo-random carrier PW technique for the power converters. The proposed method generates a new pseudo-random carrier by randomly composing a carrier with fixed frequency and a carrier with opposition phase. To confirm the validity of the proposed method, a single-phase multi-level inverter was implemented and tested. The experimental results show that the output voltage and current harmonics spectra of an inverter have broadening effect of harmonics, as only simple composition of fixed frequency carries.

  • In this paper, the performance of a Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system with Hybrid $SC/MRC- L_{c}/L$ diversity in the multipath Rayleigh fading environment is analyzed and compared with that of a Wideband DS-CDMA system. Each carriers of the number of the input diversity branches in the Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system is L and among L, the branches of $L_c$ are chosen to be maximum-ratio-combined. And the diversity outputs are coherent-detected and despread by the correlator of each carrier. As the result, we have known that the structure of the Wideband DS-CDMA system with Hybrid $SC/MRC-L_{c}/L$ diversity reception becomes simple due to no synchronization of bit or phase and in terms of the error performance, the performance of Hybrid $SC/MRC- L_{c}/L$ diversity is better than that of selection diversity, but worse than that of MRC diversity. Moreover, the performance of a Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system is better than that of a Wideband DS-CDMA system in multipath Rayleigh fading channel since Hybrid $SC/MRC- L_c/L$ diversity can obtain gain from each diversity branch. In case four carriers are used and required BER is $10^{-6}$ in wireless data communication, Hybrid SC/MRC-2/4 diversity can increase more 17 users than Hybrid SC/MRC-2/3 diversity because the better input branches can be selected through increase of input branches.

  • The performance of underwater wireless communication system is influenced on channel characteristic. Especially, a delay spread cause by reverberation and multi-path happen the ISI (Inter Symbol Interference) and reduces the communication performance. In this paper, we study the application of high speed data transmission in underwater to use the OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) technique for robust the reverberation and multi-path. we confirm the performance of communication in underwater to use the model for actually underwater channel simulation model. As a result, we acquired the BER of modulation techniques. The BER of single carrier is $2{\times}10^{-1}$ and BER of multi carrier is $8{\times}10^{-2}$ in 1000m.

  • This paper presents a simple carrier symmetric method for the voltage balance of flying capacitors in FCMLI(flying capacitor multi-level inverter). To achieve the voltage balance of flying capacitors, the utilization of each carrier must be balanced during a half-cycle of the switching period such as PSPWM(Phase-Shifted PWM). However, the CRPWM(Carrier Redistribution PWM) method causes the fluctuation of flying capacitor voltages because the balanced utilization of carriers is not achieved. Moreover, it does not consider that the load current change has an influence on flying capacitor voltages by assuming that the current flows into the load. To overcome the drawbacks of CRPWM, it is modified by the technique that carriers of each band are disposed symmetrically at every fundamental period. Firstly, the CRPWM method is reviewed and the theory on voltage balance of flying capacitors is analyzed. The proposed method is introduced and is verified through the experiment result.

  • In this study, we have examined the multi-level QPRS system in point of error rate, which requires narrow bandwidth and has Little ISI. The generalized error rate equations of multi-level QPRS signal have been derived in the presence of Gaussian noise and co-channel CW interference. And the error rate performance of 9, 49, 225 QPRS system is investigated as parameters of carrier power-to-noise power, carrier power-to -interference power. Also, we have investigated the effect of carrier offset.

  • In this paper, we introduce the MC-CDMA (Multi-Carrier CDMA) system with MD (multi-detector). Due to unknown functional form of noise in wireless channel environments, it is not easy to design the detector through estimating the functional form of noise. Instead, we design the MD, which is constructed based on DGT (Data Grouping Technique) and quantiles estimated through RMSA (Robbins-Monro Stochastic Approximation) algorithm.
