Cold 블록 영역과 hot 블록 영역의 주기적 교환을 통한 wear-leveling 향상 기법 (A wear-leveling improving method by periodic exchanging of cold block areas and hot block areas)

  • 플래시 메모리에서 읽기 작업은 속도도 빠르고 제약이 없으나 데이터 변경 시에는 덮어쓰기(overwrite)가 되지 않아 해당 데이터를 새로운 영역에 쓰고 이전에 존재하던 데이터는 무효 시켜야한다. 무효화시킨 데이터는 가비지컬렉션을 통해 지움 연산을 수행해야 한다. 지역 접근성을 가지는 데이터에 대해 가비지컬렉션을 통해 클리어 시킬 대상 목록을 선정할 때 cost-benefit 방법을 사용하면 성능은 좋으나 wear-leveling이 나빠지는 문제점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 wear-leveling을 개선하기 위해 플래시 메모리를 hot 데이터 그룹들과 cold 데이터 그룹들의 다수의 그룹으로 분할한 후 데이터를 배치하고 주기적으로 hot 데이터 영역과 cold 데이터 영역을 교체함으로써 wear-leveling과 성능을 개선하였다.

Fast and Efficient Search Algorithm of Block Motion Estimation

  • Among the previous searching methods, there are the typical methods such as full search and three-step search, etc. Block motion estimation using exhaustive search is too computationally intensive. To apply in practice, recently proposed fast algorithms have been focused on reducing the computational complexity by limiting the number of searching points. According to the reduction of searching points, the quality performance is aggravated in those algorithms. In this paper, We present a fast and efficient search algorithm for block motion estimation that produces better quality performance and less computational time compared with a three-step search (TSS). Previously the proposed Two Step Search Algorithm (TWSS) by Fang-Hsuan Cheng and San-Nan sun is based on the ideas of dithering pattern for pixel decimation using a part of a block pixels for BMA (Block Matching Algorithm) and multi-candidate to compensate quality performance with several locations. This method has good quality performance at slow moving images, but has bad quality performance at fast moving images. To resolve this problem, the proposed algorithm in this paper considers spatial and temporal correlation using neighbor and previous blocks to improve quality performance. This performance uses neighbor motion vectors and previous motion vectors in addition, thus it needs more searching points. To compensate this weakness, the proposed algorithm uses statistical character of dithering matrix. The proposed algorithm is superior to TWSS in quality performance and has similar computational complexity

  • 사물인터넷 환경에서 다중 객체의 스위치 제어는 고전압을 구동하기 위해 레벨 시프터가 있는 여러 솔리드 스테이트 구조로써 낮은 ON 저항과 양방향 릴레이 MOS 스위치를 통합했으며 외부 직렬 논리 제어에 의해 독립적으로 제어되어야 한다. 이 장치는 의료용 초음파 이미지 시스템, 잉크젯 프린터 제어 등의 IoT 기기뿐만 아니라, 켈빈 4 단자 측정을 사용한 PCB 개방 / 단락 및 누출 테스트 시스템과 같은 저전압 제어 신호에 의한 고전압 스위칭 제어가 필요한 응용 제품에 사용하도록 설계되었다. 이 논문에서는 FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) 테스트 패턴 생성을 사용한 아날로그 스위치 제어 블록의 구현 및 검증에 대하여 고찰하였다. 각 블록은 Verilog 하드웨어 설명 언어를 사용하여 구현된 후 Modelsim에 의해 시뮬레이션 되고 FPGA 보드에서 프로토타입화 되어 적용되었다. 제안된 아키텍처는 IoT 환경에서 여러개의 개체들을 동시에 제어하여야 하는 분야에 적용할 수 있으며 유사 형태의 IC를 테스트하기 위해 제안된 패턴 생성 방법을 적용할 수 있다.

다 해상도 프레임 구조에 기반한 고속 움직임 추정 기법 (A FAST MOTION ESTIMATION ALGORITHM BASED ON MULTI-RESOLUTION FRAME STRUCTURE)

  • We present a novel multi-resolution block matching algorithm (BMA) for fast motion estimation. At the coarsest level, a full search BMA (FSBMA) is performed for searching complex or random motion. Concurrently, spatial correlation of motion vector (MV) field is used for searching continuous motion. Here we present an efficient method for searching full resolution MVs without MV decimation even at the coarsest leve. After the coarsest level search, two or three initial MV candidates are chosen for the next level. At the further levels, the MV candidates are refined within much smaller search areas. Simulation results show that in comparison with FSBMA, the proposed BMA achieves a speed-up factor over 710 with minor PSNR degradation of 0.2dB at most, under a normal MPEG2 coding environment. Furthermore, our scheme is also suitable for hardware implementation due to regular data-flow.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve design method for renovating an environmental friendly residential space where nature and humans could coexist. In the present study, five deteriorated multi-family housing complexes have been selected and one hundred and thirty eight dwellers have been asked about ecological important factors through the questionnaire. This study presents the adaptable solutions, such as are the enlargement of unit space or area, the renovation of facade, the functional change for dwellings on the ground level, the open piping of circulation systems, the expansion of community facilities(include greenarea), the build up of spatial hierarchy and the housing development set reuse planning forth as a premise, for the aspects of dwelling unit, building block and site planning.

  • Parallel lines are often used to increase production rate in many manufacturing systems where the main line splits into several lines in parallel, and after some operations, they merge into a main line again. Queueing networks with finite buffers have been widely used for modeling and analyzing manufacturing systems. This paper provides an approximation technique for multi-server two-stage networks with merge configuration and blocking which will be a building block for analysis of general manufacturing systems with parallel lines and merge configuration. The main idea of the method is to decompose the original system into subsystems that have two service stations with multiple servers, two buffers and external arrivals to the second stage are allowed. The subsystems are modeled by level dependent quasi-birth-and-death (LDQBD) process.

  • This research presents an adaptive fast motion estimation (ME) computation on the stage of uneven multi-hexagon grid search (UMHGS) algorithm included in an unsymmetrical-cross multi-hexagon-grid search (UMHexagonS) in H.264 standard. The proposed adaptive method is based on statistical analysis and previously obtained motion vectors to reduce the computational complexity of ME. For this purpose, the algorithm is decomposed into three processes: skipping, terminating, and reducing search areas. Skipping and terminating are determined by the statistical analysis of the collected minimum SAD (sum of absolute difference) and the search area is constrained by the slope of previously obtained motion vectors. Simulation results show that 13%-23% of ME time can be reduced compared with UMHexagonS, while still maintaining a reasonable PSNR (peak signal-to-noise ratio) and average bitrates.

  • A numerical investigation on a suction vortices, free vortices and subsurface vortices behavior in the model sump system with multi-intakes is performed A test model sump and piping system were designed based on Froude similitude for the prototype of the recommended structure layout by HI-9.B Standard for Pump Intake Design of the Hydraulic Institute. A numerical analysis of three dimensional multiphase flows through the model sump is performed by using the finite volume method of the CFX code with multi-block structured grid systems. A ${\kappa}-{\omega]$ ShearStressTransportturbulencemodelandthe Rayleigh-Plesset cavitation model are used for solving turbulence cavitating flow. From the numerical analysis, several types of vortices are reproduced and their formation, growing shedding and detailed vortex structures are investigated. To reduce abnormal vortices, an anti-vortex device is considered and its effect is investigated and discussed.

Preferential 흐름에 의한 토양내의 다영역 용질이동 모델 (Multi-Region Model of Solute Transport in Soil for the Preferential Flow)

  • A multi-region model for solute transport through saturated soils has been developed to describe preferential flow. The model consists of numerous discrete pore groups, which are characterized by a discrete dispersion coefficient, flow velocity, and porosity . The hydraulic properties for each pore group are derived from a soil's hydraluic conductivity and soil water characteristic functions . Flow in pore group is described by the classical advection-disersion equation (ADE). An implict finite difference scheme was applied to the governing equation that results in a block-tridiagonal system of equations that is very efficient and allows the soil to be divided into any number of pore groups. The numerical technique is derived from methods used to solve coupled equations in fluid dynamics problems and can also be applied to the transport of interacting solutes. The results of the model are compared to the experimental data from published papers. This paper contributes on the characteristics of the method when applied to the parallel porosity model to describe preferential flow of solutes in soil.

  • 문서와 문서간의 유사도들 측정하는 방법 은 크게 지문법 (fingerprint)을 이용한 방법과 서열 정렬(sequence alignment)알고리즘을 이용한 방법이 있다. 두 방법은 각각 속도와 정확도라는 장점을 가지고 있다. 다단계정렬(MLA, Multi-Level alignment))는 이러한 두 방법을 조합하여 탐색 속도와 정확도 사이의 비중을 사용자가 결정할 수 있도록 하기 위한 방법이다.[1] 다단계 정렬은 두 문서를 단위 블록(basis block)로 나누고 블록 간의 벡터를 비교하여 유사도를 측정하게 되는데, 본 연구에서는 초성 추출 및 어간 추출을 통해 단위 블록의 벡터를 빠른 시 간에 생성하고 비교하는 방법과 다단계 탐색을 통해 정확도를 유지하면서 빠르게 유사도를 측정하는 방식에 대해 설명한다. 실험결과 제안 방법을 통해 다단계 정렬 방법을 이용한 대용량 문서 비교의 속도가 2 배 이상 빨라짐을 보인다.
