This landscape design proposal was presented to a design competition for the New Government Buildings of Dalseong-gun which was held by the municipal authority of Dalseong-gun in June, 2002. The site is located at 1313 Gumpo-ri, Nongong-eup, Dalseong-gun, Daegu Metropolitan City and has an area of 50,000$m^2$. The judging criteria for the landscape design set by the Dalseong-gun could be articulated as follows : an environmentally friendly design which respects the surrounding n a locale which functions as a community center of Dalseong-gun, a resting place for the welfare of its employees and visitors, and finally a place with diverse landscape elements reflecting the individual identity of each facility. The main design concepts of this project could be summarized as follows : an environmentally friendly design which respects and utilizes the existing natural landscape resources, a design which features a harmony of nature with architecture and exterior space with interior space, and a design which balances esthetic form and practical function. This design consists of four major outdoor spaces ; the lawn, the entry plaza, a pine grove, and a deck area on the third floor. The multi-purpose lawn area near the main entrance area can be used for flea markets, outdoor weddings, and picnics for its neighbors. The adjacent plaza and parking lots can be unified as one space in case of large events. The entry plaza has three axes. Each of them represents the Assembly, the Administration, and the Culture. A big circle in the paving pattern unifies the three individual axes. A group of Zelkova trees was introduced to reflect local flavor. The existing pine grove was preserved as a symbolic 'park' for the Gumpo district. The outdoor amphitheatre within the grove was introduced by utilizing the existing topography, The flow of 'nature'on the deck area was designed to connect Mt. Gumkae with the 'city'. It is a comfortable resting place for its employees and visitors.

In this paper we proposed a novel broadband printed monopole antenna for PCS/IMT-2000/WLAN terminals by widening current flow To compensate narrow bandwidth characteristics which is one of disadvantages of general printed monopole antenna, we add the patch of diamond shape and induce the current in various directions for acquiring broadband characteristics. And frequency characteristics is optimized with Various design parameters. The bandwidth of the realized antenna is $1.66{\sim}3.04\;GHz$(58.72 %) below the return loss of -10 dB which contain the required band-width of PCS/IMT-2000/WLAN band.

Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the adaptation experience of male nurses working in general wards. Methods: Experiential data was collected from 16 general ward nurses through in-depth interviews. Participants were selected from male nurses working in the general wards with over one year of clinical experience at a tertiary university hospital. The main question was "Can you describe your adaptation experience in the general ward as a nurse?" All interviews were recorded and transcribed, then analyzed using Colaizzi's method. Results: Four categories were derived from the analysis: 'difficulties from task adaptation by characteristics', 'limited nursing situation and circumstance as a male nurse', 'efforts to adapt at general nursing unit', and 'self-worth, and worry about something as a male nurse'. Conclusion: Male nurses had a difficulty adapting to work in wards due to lack of multi-tasking skills, as well as some social prejudice or negative views on male nurses. Establishing reasonable guidelines for male nurses in practice, promoting their responsibilities to patients, developing mentoring programs, and reassessing the policy of assigning male nurses to general wards are recommended to help in better adaptation.
The problems and needs of families in Hong Kong are becoming more complex. Traditional family structures and functions are rapidly eroding. Moreover, family problems are further exacerbated by a growing number of socio-economic issues including rising divorce rates and extra-marital affairs. continuous family reunion migration from Mainland China, emotional and financial cost of caring for the older people and the changing economy which has pushed more families into hardship. In effect, more and more families are becoming vulnerable to risk. Traditional family services in Hong Kong are varied in mode, operation and provision, often overlapping in service boundaries with other family-oriented programs. In many instances, family service centers are stretched far beyond their capacity. As a consequence, they become too reactive, remedial and casework dominated. The University of Hong Kong Consultant Team recommended that family service programs have to protect vulnerable families and strengthen family capacities to promote maximum independence. The direction of family services is summarized as: strengthening families; child-centered, family-focused and community-based. New integrative family service centers aim at attaining the principles of promoting accessibility to users with minimum physical, psychological and administrative barriers; early identification of needs and intervention before the further deterioration of problems; integration of services cutting across program boundaries, and partnership between service providers to achieve efficient and effective use of scarce resources. Under the new model, multi-skilled teams can respond more proactively to a wide range of social needs, rather than addressing needs in isolation. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the new model, the consultant team has been commissioned by the government to evaluate the performance of these two-year pilot projects. More importantly, a coherent and family-friendly social policy should be formulated to strengthen family capacity against family-related problems.
Quality of life(QoL) of older cancer patients have not gained enough attention from researchers even when cancer is the number one cause of death of Korean elderly. Therefore, this study aims at understanding the QoL of older cancer patients and factors related to it, applying Taylor(2012)'s Stress-Coping Process model, and by comparing with older chronic disease patients and middle-aged cancer patients. Results indicated that physical health QoL of older cancer patients was the worst and their mental health QoL was similar with middle aged cancer patients. Multi-group analysis of Structural Equation Modeling indicated that the relation between QoL and the stress coping resources was not statistically different from older cancer patients and older chronic disease group, as well older cancer patients and middle-aged cancer patients. Implications of results to improve the QoL of older cancer patients are discussed.

AESA(Active Electronically Scanned Array radar) radar is able to instantaneously and adaptively position and control the beam, and such adaptive beam pointing of AESA radar enables to remarkably improve the multi-mission capability. For this reason, radar resource management(RRM) becomes new challenging issue. RRM is a technique efficiently allocating finite resources, such as energy and time to each task in an optimal and intelligent way. This paper deals with a design of radar resource management algorithms and simulator implemented main algorithms for development of airborne AESA radar. In addition, evaluation results show that developed radar system satisfies a main requirement about simultaneous multiple target tracking and detection by adopting proposed algorithms.
Objectives: Safety is a primary health promotion issue in worksite because injury induces multi-fold loss of the human and economic resources to profit organization. The purposes of this study were to describe worksite health and safety education and management status in Korean manufacturing companies. Methods: The original population size of Korean manufacturing industry in 2004 was 74,398 and 2,960 factories were selected by the multiple stratified sampling method for this study. The health and safety manager or representatives of the selected 2,960 companies successfully finished in the face-to-face interview survey about company's general characteristics, health and safety management style, health and safety education hours conducted by the Korean Occupational Safety and Health Agency. Results: The manufacturing companies in Seoul and Kyunggi areas, small size, and clothes and press industries were related to low health and safety management and education status. The companies which assigned at least one safety manager were 70.5% and which had a health and safety room within the company were only 9.3%. The companies which took the health and safety education for their regular blue-collar employees more than the legal education hours were under 56.1% and the percentage of the companies which took their health and safety education for newcomers less than the legal limits was lower than any other types of health and safety education in workplace. The significant strong workplace health and safety management variables in predicting employee health and safety education were psycho-social variables such as the company own health and safety regulation and the workplace health and safety management committee organization. rather than physical variables such as health manager employment, safety manager employment. Conclusions: Systematic and legal approaches are effective to encourage workplace health and safety education, specifically, through sustaining health and safety managers and building the company-wide health and safety management system. Furthermore, theses approaches should primarily focus on the small companies of which sizes were under 50.
Recognizing the importance of the multi-purpose management of natural deciduous forest, this study was carried out to implement the partial cutting for stand regulation to examine agroforestry practice as well as other concurrent forest resource production, and to investigate the changes in stand characteristics and understory vegetation in a silvopasture practiced natural deciduous stand in the Research Forest of Kangwon National University, Korea. Three different partial cutting intensities (68.1%, 48.6%, and control) were performed in the unmanaged natural deciduous stand in order to improve the growing condition, especially light condition, for introducing some commercial herbaceous plants on the forest floor to establish agroforestry and/or silvopastoral system. Dominated by Quercus varibilis Blume (50.5%) and Quercus dentata Thum. ex Murray (42.6%), eight tree species were composed of the study forest, including poles of Pinus desiflora Siebold & Zucc and sapling of Pinus Koraiensis Siebold & Zucc. The total of 87 (13 tree species, 12 shrub species, 58 herbaceous species, and 4 woody climbers) vascular plant species were observed in study site after partial cutting treatments, while that of before partial cutting was 53 species (14 tree species, 8 shrubs species, 30 herbaceous species, and 1 woody climbers). The proportion of life form spectra in plot B was Mi (28.4%)-Na (23.0%)-Ge (17.5%)-Ch (10.8%)-He (9.5%)-MM (6.7%)-Th (4.1%). No statistically significant differences were observed in changes of life form spectra from before to after partial cutting treatment and among partial cutting gradients in this study. Partial cutting and scratching for forage sowing made plants invade easily on the forest floor, and light partial cutting (LPC) plot (500 stems/ha) had much higher number of undersory species than those of heavy partial cutting (HPC) plot (310 stems/ha) and control plot (1,270 stems/ha).
Large scale marine biodiversity studies in China have been carried out for more than half a century since the founding of the Institute of Oceanology, CAS, in 1950. Through a series of coastal and multi-disciplinary oceanographic investigations in the shelf seas and biodiversity studies since the late fifties, a total of 20,278 species of marine biota have been recorded upto 1994. Recent intensive studies have further revealed the richness of marine biota of the China seas,a great number of marine species have been found and many new taxa established. The total species number of main biotic groups increased about 50 % of that estimated in 1994. The results have promoted the fast development of China's marine fisheries, medicine (drug) and biodiversity research, and attracted many scientists, particularly bio-technologists, to join their studies. Environmental deterioration and human activity strongly stressed the sustainable development and conservation of marine bio-diversity, and resulted in the increase of end angered species as record ed in the new published ${\ll}$China Species Red List${\gg}$ with the threatened category of species assessed by adopting the new IUCN criteria. To further reveal the high diversity and their history, present status and future of marine organisms existed in the world ocean, an international Project ${\ll}$Census of Marine Life (CoML)${\gg}$ was established in 2000 in the USA. Scientists predicted that 2 to 3 times of numbers of the known species will possibly be found in various marine habitats, particularly the abyssal ocean. The Research Plan and the Projects were briefly introduced, and the relationship between marine biodiversity and biotechnology was discussed. The Project planned to apply new and high techniques and new equipments on board research vessel and in laboratory. Brief review of recent advances of Chinas' marine biodiversity and biotechnology studies indicated that fascinate results have been achcieved; but further effort should be made to promote the continuous advance of our basic researches and their application in related production and maintain sustainable development.

Recently, concerns about the environment are becoming more important because of global warming and the exhaustion of earth's resources. In the aviation and automobile industries, the application of light materials is increasingly important for eco-friendly and effective. Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics is a composite material which great formability and the high strength of carbon fiber. CFRP, which is both light and strong, is hard to manufacture. In addition, CFRP machining has a high chance of defects. This research discusses the development of a manufacturing system package for CFRP machining. It involving CFRP Drilling/Water-jet Manufacturing Machines, Inspection/Post-processing Systems, CNC platform for an EtherCAT servo Communication, Flexible Manufacturing Systems and CFRP machining Processes.
