Correction of Rotated Frames in Video Sequences Using Modified Mojette Transform (변형된 모젯 변환을 이용한 동영상에서의 회전 프레임 보정)

  • The camera motion is accompanied with the translation and/or the rotation of objects in frames of a video sequence. An unnecessary rotation of objects declines the quality of the moving pictures and in addition is a primary cause of the viewers' fatigue. In this paper, a novel method for correcting rotated frames in video sequences is presented, where the modified Mojette transform is applied to the motion-compensated area in each frame. The Mojette transform is one of discrete Radon transforms, and is modified for correcting the rotated frames as follows. First, the bin values in the Mojette transform are determined by using pixels on the projection line and the interpolation of pixels adjacent to the line. Second, the bin values are calculated only at some area determined by the motion estimation between current and reference frames. Finally, only one bin at each projection is computed for reducing the amount of the calculation in the Mojette transform. Through the simulation carried out on various test video sequences, it is shown that the proposed scheme has good performance for correcting the rotation of frames in moving pictures.

  • Due to the advent of presumer and digital production of moving picture, a lot of UCC has been generated by editing the previous moving pictures in various way. It causes a lot of problems on copyright, duplication, and content. In reorganizing the contents, it is necessary to increase productivity and reusability by managing production pipeline systematically through the standardization of moving picture content. For this purpose, we try to develop the moving picture content management system that can manage all kinds of information on the production pipeline, based on SCORM of e-learning by considering production, publication and re-editing. Using the meta-data of content object, user and producer can easily search and reuse the contents. Hence, they can choose the contents object according to their preference and reproduce their own creative UCC by reorganizing and packaging the selected objects. The management of copyright by the unit of scene would solve the problem of copyright. The sequencing technique of SCORM as an interactive storytelling method makes it possible to produce individual contents by user's preference.

  • Funeral rites relate to the last ceremonies involving the process of human beings moving from this world to the other world, becoming part of a life which remarkably reflects the world after death. They can be said to be the best culture created by the conception of death. The ceremonies of mourning, or ubiquitius folk phenomena of all the ages from the ancient times to modern times, represent the mass belief of each nation in spiritual worlds as well as the feelings of individuals facing death. In so far as their methods are concerned, the ceremonies vary in accordance with ages, nations, regions and culture. The practices of today\`s funeral rites conducted in the West have been formed and changed throughout its long history. Now that the ceremonies are a combination of complicated cultures, they serve as an important tool for inquiring into the spiritual life of the people of an age in question and the pictures of the society concerned. Therefore this paper is designed to look into the culture of shrouds showing respect for the dead in the West. With the view of examining death, and grave clothes for them, but also with the spiritual culture of human beings in relation to death represented in their pictures. I resort to literature and materials related to the shrouds of the dead which appeared in a period from the Medieval Age to the 19th century.

Modified Seam Finding Algorithm based on Saliency Map to Generate 360 VR Image (360 VR 영상 제작을 위한 Saliency Map 기반 Seam Finding 알고리즘)

  • The cameras generating 360 VR image are too expensive to be used publically. To overcome this problem, we propose a way to use smart phones instead of VR camera, where more than 100 pictures are taken by smart phone and are stitched into a 360 VR image. In this scenario, when moving objects are in some of the pictures, the stitched 360 VR image has various degradations, for example, ghost effect and mis-aligning. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm to modify the seam finding algorithms, where the saliency map in ROI is generated to check whether the pixel belongs to visually salient objects or not. Various simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is effective to increase the quality of the generated 360 VR image.

Facial Contour Extraction in Moving Pictures by using DCM mask and Initial Curve Interpolation of Snakes (DCM 마스크와 스네이크의 초기곡선 보간에 의한 동영상에서의 얼굴 윤곽선 추출)

  • In this paper, we apply DCM(Dilation of Color and Motion information) mask and Active Contour Models(Snakes) to extract facial outline in moving pictures with complex background. First, we propose DCM mask which is made by applying morphology dilation and AND operation to combine facial color and motion information, and use this mask to detect facial region without complex background and to remove noise in image energy. Also, initial curves are automatically set according to rotational degree estimated with geometric ratio of facial elements to overcome the demerit of Active Contour Models which is sensitive to initial curves. And edge intensity and brightness are both used as image energy of snakes to extract contour at parts with weak edges. For experiments, we acquired total 480 frames with various head-poses of sixteen persons with both eyes shown by taking pictures in inner space and also by capturing broadcasting images. As a result, it showed that more elaborate facial contour is extracted at average processing time of 0.28 seconds when using interpolated initial curves according to facial rotation degree and using combined image energy of edge intensity and brightness.

  • Despite the importance of mathematics education, many students in high school have lost their interests and felt difficulties and they don't have 'mathematical' experience with meanings attached because of the entrance examination. This paper attempted to resolve these problems and find the teaching-method with which students can study by themselves with more confidence. Nowadays students' use of Internet is very popular. After develop 'the development of mathematical power' program based on mathematics history, history, science, the application of problems in real world, and self-evaluation, I made students repeat them after making teaching lessons in classroom as moving pictures. Through this processes, I attempted to develop the Self-Directed Learning' ability by making public education substantial. First of all I analyzed the actual conditions on 'Self-Directed Learning' ability in mathematics subject, the conditions of seeing and hearing in Internet learning program, and students' and their parents' interests in Internet education. By analyzing the records, I observed the significance of the introducing mathematics history in mathematics subject in early stager, cooperative-learning, leveled-learning, self-directed learning, and Internet learning. Actually in aspect of applying 'the development of mathematical power' program, at first I made up the educational conditions to fix the program, collected the teaching materials, established the system of teaching-learning model, developed materials for the learning applying Internet mail and instruments of classroom, and carried out instruction to establish and practice mathematics learning plan. Then I applied the teaching-learning model of leveled cooperation and presentation loaming and at the same time constructed and used the leveled learning materials of complementary, average, and advanced process and instructed to watch teaching moving pictures through Internet mail and in the classroom. After that I observed how effective this program was through the interest arid attitude toward mathematics subject, learning accomplishment, and the change of self-directed learning. Finally, I wrote the conclusion and suggestion on the preparation of conditions fur the students' voluntary participation in mathematics learning and the project and application on 'the development of mathematical power' program and repeated learning with the materials of moving pictures in classroom.

  • Concerning the development of suitable healthcare equipment for a aged people at their homes in order to reduce the labor and increase the efficiency in the homehelpers' work, we conducted a study on the actual conditions of healthcare in Kyoto city (healthcare in taking a meal and excretion, moving and taking a bath by using a hand-powered lift, moving by a wheelchair, shower carrier healthcare, assistance in body care and housework) by digital video filming, interviews and layout investigations. On the base of those investigations by using methods for analysis of video pictures, we divided the healthcate work into scenes and e exctracted the main problems in terms of health care equipment, information, environment, healthcare skills, mental burden, social s system, family burden, ete. Furthermore the questionnaire survey of home helpers (18 persons - 50% answers) clarified that more than half of them have lumbago pains and the biggest load in the everyday healthcare c comes from moving the patients or getting them into or out of t the equipment for moving. Finally we considered concrete proposals appropriate for each h healthcare scene image, based on evaluation toward efficiency (design guidelines) for suitable healthcare equipment for aged people at their homes: 1) Design toward a proper posture 2) Design toward self-help possibility 3) Design toward patient active participation 4) Design toward rationality of the whole process 5) Design toward place-appropriate healthcare equipment 6) Design toward healing of mind 7) Good level of healthcare skills 8) Economic, systematic rationality

  • This study carried out researches on the techniques which are applicable to express sense of depth in the process of producing lofty image contents, and it's verification. Techniques for expression of sense of depth are how to use highlight and shadow, how to use depth of field and lenses, and how to use camera motion, zoom and dolly. For the practical application in all cases, I examine the preference frequency, and most of the pictures that techniques are adapted are selected. As a result we can verify the way of using lenses is the most convenient way in the expression of 'sense of depth'.

  • Currently, the lack of equipments for the medical practice and education made it impossible for the people in medical institution to carry out suitable experiments for observing human bodies .In this paper, the authors embodied three dimensional images and moving pictures for the human skeletal structure, digestive organs, cardiovascular system and their processes over the internet framework. The three dimensional images and moving picture made it possible for the general people as well as the specialists to observe and obtain informations with regard to the human body. Especially, the authors realized a framework for visualizing the human bodies in three dimensional images, via which a detailed and realistic architecture for the human body and its organs can be obtained. The system developed in this paper can be used in the practice and education of the people engaged in medical fields.

  • This paper introduces a moving object tracing system using network-connected CCTV and smartphone. In an emergency situation, a smartphone of the reporter gains its GPS information and sends that to the central server. The central server stores received GPS information as a dangerous area in the database and keeps sending the order of tracing the reporter to a network-connected CCTV which can film the reporter. At the same time, the central server sends pictures of the reporter to his or her family and related organization in order to handle the emergency situation as soon as possible. In addition, when a reporter want to know the risk around destination, the central server informs dangerous areas to the reporter by using smart phone application and database of a danger spot.
