  • The purpose of this study is to evaluated the effects of added expanded polystyrene on the basic properties of UP mortar. Polyester resin mortars are prepared with expanded polystyrene ratio in styrene monomer (EPS/PS), and the ratio of total polystyrene resin to UP resin (PS/UP). And it is tested for viscosity of UP resin added PS resin, slump-flow test, working life, flexural and compressive strengths, and curing shrinkage test. From the test result, Viscosity of resin for polymer mortar increases with increasing PS content. Curing shrinkage of UP mortar is considerably smaller than that of plain UP mortar, nevertheless, reduction in the strengths is not recognized according to adding PS resin. In this study, we can obtain the optimum mix proportions of polymer mortar using PS resin.

  • It was well recognized that the damages associated mainly with the aging of civil infrastructures were one of very serious problems for assurance of safety and reliability. Recently carbon fiber sheet(CFS) has been widely used for reinforcement and rehabilitation of damaged concrete beam. However, the fundamental mechanism of load transfer and its load-resistant for carbon fiber sheet reinforced concrete are not fully understood. In this study, three point bending test has been carried out to understand the damage progress and the micro-failure mechanism of CFS reinforced mortars. For this purpose, four different types of specimens are used, that is, mortar, steel bar reinforced mortar, CFS reinforced mortar, and steel bar and CFS reinforced morter. Acoustic Emission(AE) technique was used to evaluate the characteristics of damage progress and the failure mechanism of specimens. in addition, two-dimensional AE source location was also performed to monitor crack initiation and propagation processes for these specimens.

숏크리트용 보수 모르타르의 굳기 전 특성 및 역학적 특성 (Fresh and Mechanical Properties of Repair Mortar for Shotcrete)

  • Recently, repair mortars have been mainly used for repairing old concrete structures. In this study, a new repair mortar including shotcrete admixture, slag, silica fume, sulphate and calcium carbonate, was developed for repairing shotcrete layer and the fresh properties and mechanical characteristics of the repair mortar was measured, Test results showed that the shortcrete admixture and other additives reduce the final setting time from about 7 hours to within 20 minutes and increase very early strength and stiffness (within 5 hours after cast).

  • 본 연구에서는 현장 부착강도시험을 통해 콘크리트의 단면복구재로 사용되는 국내 폴리머시멘트 모르타르 제품에 대한 부착강도 특성을 평가하였다. 부착강도시험에는 직접 인발시험기를 적용했으며, 시험결과는 단면복구재에 대한 국내 산업규격의 품질기준에 대한 타당성 검토를 위한 기초자료로 제시한다.

  • The study is the results of accelerated tests and the specimens, mortars, are submerged in a 5% sulfuric acid solution. The deterioration of specimens is followed up by investigating the change in weight and compressive strength of the specimens and techniques such as XRD and XRF are used to examine the chemical changes. Sulfuric acid is a very aggressive acid that reacts with the free lime [$Ca(OH)_2$] in the concrete forming gypsum($CaSO_{4}.2H_{2}O$). This reaction is associated with an increase in volume of the concrete, and the corroded surface becomes soft and white. The results showed that the OPC mortar caused an decrease in weight above 18% and strength loss about 57%. On the other hand, AASC(alkali-activated slag composites) did not cause any decrease in weight and in the case of strength caused an decrease below 10%. In addition, this mechanical results was verified to XRD and XRF.

  • 시멘트 수화시 생성되는 수산화칼슘은 시멘트 모르타르의 강도 및 내구성을 감소시킨다. 이에 포졸란물질인 meta kaolin 및 silica fume을 이용하여 이러한 결점을 해결하고자 하였다. Meta kailin 및 silica fume의 함량변화에 대한 수산화칼슘의 감소는 Fourier의 시차열분석에 의해 규명되었고, mela kaolin 및 silica fume을 무첨가(0%)에 비하여 10% 이상 첨가시 수산화칼슘양이 큰 폭으로 감소함을 나타내었다. 이는 meta kaolin 및 silica fume의 SiO2 성분과 시멘트의 CaO와의 포졸란반응에 의한 것으로 나타났다.

  • POFA(Palm oil fuel ash)는 Palm fiber 와 shell의 부산물로써 콘크리트용 혼화재로 사용이 가능하다. 그러나 POFA를 사용한 콘크리트의 포졸란 반응에 관한 연구는 매우 적다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다른 콘크리트용 혼화재료와 동일한 수준으로 POFA의 혼입 치환율을 달리한 모르타르의 압축강도 및 활성도 지수, 포졸란 활성도 지수(API)를 정량적으로 평가하여 혼화재료로서의 적합성을 평가하였다.

Mathematical model of strength and porosity of ternary blend Portland rice husk ash and fly ash cement mortar

  • This paper presents a mathematical model for strength and porosity of mortars made with ternary blends of ordinary Portland cement (OPC), ground rice husk ash (RHA) and classified fly ash (FA). The mortar mixtures were made with Portland cement Type I containing 0-40% FA and RHA. FA and RHA with 1-3% by weight retained on a sieve No. 325 were used. Compressive strength and porosity of the blended cement mortar at the age of 7, 28 and 90 days were determined. The use of ternary blended cements of RHA and FA produced mixes with good strength and low porosity of mortar. A mathematical analysis and two-parameter polynomial model were presented for the strength and porosity estimation with FA and RHA contents as parameters. The computer graphics of strength and porosity of the ternary blend were also constructed to aid the understanding and the proportioning of the blended system.

  • This study is to test effects of sulfate attack on deterioration of cement mortar. Four tests have been carried out with four types of mortars mixed by ordinary portland cement and sulfate-resistant portland cement containing blast-furnace slag and fly-ash. It was immersed in sulfate solution for 7, 28, 91, and 180 days. from the test results, sulfate attack resistance of cement mortar was improved by admixtures (blast-furnace slag and fly-ash), sulfate-resistance portland cement mortar showed high resistance than ordinarily portland cement at compressive strength, and similar the resistance of sulfate attack with ordinarily portland cement mortar with admixtures.
