Exact poisson distribution in the use of NPB with aiming errors

  • A neutral particle beam(NPB) aimed at the object and receive a small number of neutron signals at the detector to estimate the mass of an object Since there is uncertainty about the location of the axis of the beam relative to the object, we could have aiming errors which may lead to incorrect information about the object. Under the two assumptions that neutral particle scattering distribution and aiming errors have a circular normal distribution respectively, we have derived an exact probability distribution of neutral particles. It becomes a Poison-power function distribution., We proved monotone likelihood ratio property of tlis distribution. This property can be used to find a criteria for the hypothesis testing problem.

Fuzzy 계확법의 해법일반화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Extension of Fuzzy Programming Solution Method)

  • In this study, the fuzzy programming is extended to handle various types of membership functions by transformation of the complicated fuzzy programming problems into the equivalent crisp linear programming problems with single objective. It is well-known that the fuzzy programming problem with linear membership functions (i.e., ramp type) can be easily transformed into a linear programming problem by introducing one dummy variable to minimize the worst unwanted deviation. However, until recently not many researches have been done to handle various general types of complicated linear membership functions which might be more realistic than ramp-or triangular-type functions. In order to handle these complicated membership functions, the goal dividing concept, which is based on the fuzzy set operation (i. e., intersection and union operations), has been prepared. The linear model obtained using the goal dividing concept is more efficient and single than the previous models [4, 8]. In addition, this result can be easily applied to any nonlinear membership functions by piecewise approximation since the membership function is continuous and monotone increasing or decreasing.

  • In this paper, it is assumed that a system is composed of an essential unit and a nonessential unit. During the running of the system, an essential unit is replaced at periodic replacement time T or at nth failure of essential unit whichever occurs first. Nonessential unit is replaced at its failure and at the replacement of essential unit. This paper derive optimal replacement period which minmises the total expected cost for replacement. The unimodality of totoal maintenance cost function is proved under the assumption that hazard rate of each component is continuous and monotone increasing failure rate(IFR). Based on this condition, it is shown that the optimal replacement period is finite and unique.

  • We obtain means and variances of max {X, Y} and min {X, Y} in the underlying Morgenstern type bivariate uniform variables X and Y with same scale parameters and different scale parameters respectively. And we obtain the conditional expectations in the underlying Morgenstern type bivariate uniform variables. Here, we shall consider the conditional expectations to know the dependence of one variable on the other variable and we consider the behaviors of means and variances of max {X, Y} and min {X, Y} with respect to changes in means, variances, and the correlation coeffcient of the underlying Morgenstern type bivariate uniform variables.

  • This paper deals with the empirical Bayes two-action problem of testing $H_0\;:\;{\theta}{\leq}{\theta}_0$: versus $H_1\;:\;{\theta}>{\theta}_0$ using a linear error loss for some discrete nonexponential families having probability function either $$f_1(x{\mid}{\theta})=(x{\alpha}+1-{\theta}){\theta}^x\prod\limits_{j=0}^x\;(j{\alpha}+1)$$ or $$f_2(x{\mid}{\theta})=[{\theta}\prod\limits_{j=0}^{x-1}(j{\alpha}+1-{\theta})]/[\prod\limits_{j=0}^x\;(j{\alpha}+1)]$$. Two empirical Bayes tests ${\delta}_n^*\;and\;{\delta}_n^{**}$ are constructed. We have shown that both ${\delta}_n^*\;and\;{\delta}_n^{**}$ are asymptotically optimal, and their regrets converge to zero at an exponential decay rate O(exp(-cn)) for some c>0, where n is the number of historical data available when the present decision problem is considered.

  • In this paper, we consider and introduce some new concepts of the biconvex functions involving an arbitrary bifunction and function. Some new relationships among various concepts of biconvex functions have been established. We have shown that the optimality conditions for the general biconvex functions can be characterized by a class of bivariational-like inequalities. Auxiliary principle technique is used to propose proximal point methods for solving general bivariational-like inequalities. We also discussed the conversance criteria for the suggested methods under pseudo-monotonicity. Our method of proof is very simple compared with methods. Several special cases are discussed as applications of our main concepts and results. It is a challenging problem to explore the applications of the general bivariational-like inequalities in pure and applied sciences.

Initial sample size problem in the sequential test for the mean of a normal distribution

  • The two-stage sequential test, suggested by Baker [2] for testing hypotheses $H_0:\mu=\mu_0$ and $H_1:\mu=\mu_1$ of $N(\mu,\sigma^2)$ with the unknown $\sigma^2$ would not be amenable for applications unles some cluses on the choice of the first-stage sample size are available. The study in this paper is intended to shed some light on the size of the first-stage sample. An approximate method is used to estimate an optimal initial sample size that minimizes the average sample number. In brief, the optimal size is a strictly monotone decreasing function of the quantity $(\mu_1-\mu_0)/\sigma$. Empirical and simulation results are used to ascertain the negligible effect of possible errors due to approximations and assumptions used.

Social-Aware Collaborative Caching Based on User Preferences for D2D Content Sharing

  • With rapid growth of content demands, device-to-device (D2D) content sharing is exploited to effectively improve the service quality of users. Considering the limited storage space and various content demands of users, caching schemes are significant. However, most of them ignore the influence of the asynchronous content reuse and the selfishness of users. In this work, the user preferences are defined by exploiting the user-oriented content popularity and the current caching situation, and further, we propose the social-aware rate, which comprehensively reflects the achievable contents download rate affected by the social ties, the caching indicators, and the user preferences. Guided by this, we model the collaborative caching problem by making a trade-off between the redundancy of caching contents and the cache hit ratio, with the goal of maximizing the sum of social-aware rate over the constraint of limited storage space. Due to its intractability, it is computationally reduced to the maximization of a monotone submodular function, subject to a matroid constraint. Subsequently, two social-aware collaborative caching algorithms are designed by leveraging the standard and continuous greedy algorithms respectively, which are proved to achieve different approximation ratios in unequal polynomial-time. We present the simulation results to illustrate the performance of our schemes.

  • Y. R$\acute{e}$ball$\acute{e}$ [11]교수는 쇼케이적분 기준에 의한 필요측도의 표현에 관해 조사한다. 또한 쇼케이적분 표현관 관련된 필요측도의 순위를 결정 연장을 생각한다. 이 논문에서, 우리는 결정연장이 쇼케이 기대효용에 따른 애매한(구간치로 명명함) 필요측도를 가지는 경우를 생각한다. 더욱이, 구간치 필요측도에 대한 단조 집합치 함수를 갖는 기호에 대한 약 쇼케이적분표현과 필요측도에 대한 구간치 효용함수를 갖는 기호에 대한 강 쇼케이적분 표현에 대한 두 가지 정리를 증명한다.

간편 간접추론 방식의 퍼지논리에 의한 확장 칼만필터의 성능 향상 (Performance Improvement of an Extended Kalman Filter Using Simplified Indirect Inference Method Fuzzy Logic)

  • In order to improve the performance of an extended Kalman filter, a simplified indirect inference method (SIIM) fuzzy logic system (FLS) is proposed. The proposed FLS is composed of two fuzzy input variables, four fuzzy rules and one fuzzy output. Two normalized fuzzy input variables are the variance between the trace of a prior and a posterior covariance matrix, and the residual error of a Kalman algorithm. One fuzzy output variable is the weighting factor to adjust for the Kalman gain. There is no need to decide the number and the membership function of input variables, because we employ the normalized monotone increasing/decreasing function. The single parameter to be determined is the magnitude of a universe of discourse in the output variable. The structure of the proposed FLS is simple and easy to apply to various nonlinear state estimation problems. The simulation results show that the proposed FLS has strong adaptability to estimate the states of the incoming/outgoing moving objects, and outperforms the conventional extended Kalman filter algorithm by providing solutions that are more accurate.
