  • In this study, shaking table tests were conducted to assess and analyze the seismic performance of the molded transformers used in actual hydropower plants. The test method was executed by adjusting the acceleration magnitude through the generation of artificial earthquakes that comply with the seismic performance criteria outlined in the ICC-ES AC 156 procedure. Additionally, a performance assessment for earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.0 or greater, recorded domestically in recent times, was concurrently conducted to analyze the dynamic behavioral characteristics. The test results indicated that there was no functional damage to the test specimen in all shaking table test procedures. However, structural damage began to be visually confirmed through a visual inspection when the artificial seismic intensity exceeded 100%, and at 150%, cumulative deformation was measured at the lower part. This is attributed to the nonlinear behavior caused by the structural characteristics of the heavy upper structure, its high centre of gravity, and the relatively small load and high flexibility of the lower frame. The excessive relative displacement between the upper and lower parts resulting from this phenomenon is anticipated to lead to potential damage, such as collisions with surrounding equipment or impact on adjacent facilities.

  • Among the electrical components mounted on railroad cars, the largest load is the main transformer, which has a low power density of 0.2~0.4 MVA/ton due to the low operating frequency(60Hz), which is an important factor for weight reduction. Therefore, research on molded transformers, semiconductor transformers, etc. is being actively conducted at Domestic and foreign in order to improve the main transformer for railway vehicles. Meanwhile, attempts are being made to apply a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) to replace an induction motor as a traction motor that is mostly applied to domestic and foreign railway vehicles. Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) can secure higher power density and efficiency compared to induction motors, but have disadvantages in that the materials required for manufacturing are expensive and design is somewhat difficult compared to induction motors. Considering these problems, in this paper, we suggest that a small and lightweight semiconductor transformer is applied, and a simple structure, high torque, low cost SRM can be applied in accordance with the requirements such as weight reduction and high efficiency of railroad vehicles. content.

  • The autotransformer currently used on the electric railway system is made of class A insulation material and uses the paper insulation method. As a power converter supplying power to the trolley wire, the autotransformer is one of critical equipment in the railway system. In the autotransformer, load irregularly changes and overload often occurs. These cause overheating of the autotransformer and facilitate deterioration of the autotransformer resulting in burnout accidents due to insulation breakdown. Also, the current autotransformer has poor insolation and short-circuit strength which often badly affect the service life of the transformer, and needs to improve its quality urgently. To overcome one of existing shortcomings of the mold transformer, manufacturers use epoxy resins that have superior flame retardancy to get rid of fro and explosion possibilities during accidents. Currently, new mold transformers are used in indoor distribution facilities with fire-fighting equipments. Coils molded in epoxy resins do not have their insulation performance compromised by humidity, dust, etc enabling easy inspection and maintenance. Comparing to the oil immersed transformer, the mold transformer does not have any concern about environmental pollutions by oil leak or replacement Therefore, to reduce breakdowns and improve reliability of the autotransformer, it is necessary to develop a new mold autotransformer with low loss suitable for our environment to suppress breakdowns of the autotransformer and improve the reliability. This study is about development of a low-loss mold autotransformer necessitated by reasons mentioned earlier.

  • This paper proposes a method to develop a high-precision dimension measurement system using a linear variable differential transformer sensor. The Dimension targets for measurement is carbon material vanes of key element in the rotating parts within vehicle circulating pump. Data acquisition system for dimension measurement is designed using the NI Compact RIO. And the program applying the dimension measurement algorithm is built using NI LabVIEW. The dimension measuring program is composed of a FPGA program, Real Time program and Host program. The method of the experiment compares master vane with target vane for measure the length of the carbon material vane. The experimental results confirmed the usefulness of the accuracy within ${\pm}4um$.

  • A conventional epoxy-microsilica composite (EMC) and an epoxy-microsilica-nanosilicate composite (EMNC) were prepared in order to apply them to mold-type transformers, current transformers (CT) and potential transformers (PT). Nanosilicate was exfoliated in a epoxy resin using our electric field dispersion process and AC insulation breakdown strength at $30{\sim}150^{\circ}C$, glass transition temperature and viscoelasticity were studied. AC insulation breakdown strength of EMNC was higher than that of EMC and that value of EMNC was far higher at high temperature. Glass transition temperature and viscoelasticity property of EMNC was higher than those of EMC at high temperature. These results was due to the even dispersion of nanosilicates among the nanosilicas, which could be observed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). That is, the nanosilicates interrupt the electron transfer and restrict the mobility of the epoxy chains.

  • Power distribution system requires the transformer with higher capacity than ever, but this ever, but this may be the cause of the increasing of short circuit current in contrast to conventional one when short-circuit accident is occurred. Therefore molded case circuit breaker improved in aspects of interrupting capacity of short circuit current in this system is needed. The arrangement and quality of the material of grids in arc quenching room are also designed optimally by the analysis of arc driving forces.

  • This paper describes the technique for detecting failure symptom of mold transformer. This study uses the vibration signal analysis method and FEM as the technique. A loading back method is constructed for experiment, accelation sensors are adhered for measurement of vibration signal. Vibration signal measured by this method is analyzed into variation trend of measurement variables by control of control variables. Magnetic field distribution of molded winding is also acquired by FEM considering the design specfication and the characteristics of insulation material, in conclusion, he relation of results between vibration signal and FEM is studied by these methods.
