  • We propose a wall distance free one-equation turbulence model. The model is organized in an extremely simple form. Only a few model constants were introduced into the model. The model is numerically tough and easy-of-use. The model also demonstrated the ability to simulate the laminar to turbulent flow transition. The model has been applied to the channel flow, the plane jet, the backward facing step flow, the flat plate boundary layer, as well as the flow around the 2D airfoil at large angles of attack, which obtained satisfactory results.

  • A real-time collision-free trajectory control method for dual arm robot system is proposed. The proposed method is composed of two stages; one is to calculate the minimum distance between two robot arms and the other is to control the trajectories of the robots to ensure collision-free motions. The calculation of minimum distance between two robots is, also, composed of two steps. To reduce the calculation time, we, first, apply a simple modeling technique to the robots arms and determine the interested part of the robot arms. Next, we apply more precise modeling techniques for the part to calculate the minimum distance. Simulation results show that the whole algorithm runs within 0.05 second using Pentium 100MHz PC.

  • Purpose - Recently, large quantities of factors have affected the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between two countries. Due to this background, this paper selects South Korea as an example to explore the determinants of Free Trade Agreement from Asian countries. Research design, data, and methodology - A cross sectional data of 2016 will be employed and some variables such as real income and GDP will be used to run an empirical analysis under the linear probability model, probit model and logit model. Results - The findings show that the Asian countries' exchange rate regime, real income, GDP and so forth can increase the probability of signing the Free Trade Agreement with Asian countries. Conversely, the distance can lower the probability of signing the Free Trade Agreement with Asian countries. Meanwhile, although the Asian countries' import, consumer price index and population also can affect the probability of signing the Free Trade Agreement with Asian countries, the estimated coefficients are not statistically significant at 5% level. Conclusions - According to the empirical results, this paper provides a new scope for South Korea's government to sign the Free Trade Agreement with other Asian countries.

  • The development of smart grids has enabled the easy collection of a large amount of power data. There are some common patterns that make it useful to cluster power consumption patterns when analyzing s power big data. In this paper, clustering analysis is based on distance functions for time series and clustering algorithms to discover patterns for power consumption data. In clustering, we use 10 distance measures to find the clusters that consider the characteristics of time series data. A simulation study is done to compare the distance measures for clustering. Cluster validity measures are also calculated and compared such as error rate, similarity index, Dunn index and silhouette values. Real power consumption data are used for clustering, with five distance measures whose performances are better than others in the simulation.

  • The analysis methods of blast analysis models are classified into direct analysis and indirect analysis, and the latter is divided into semi-empirical and numerical analysis methods. In order to evaluate the applicability of the ELS blast analysis program, which is a program for analyzing the semi-empirical models, this study selected a simplified analytical model and examined the blast load characteristics of free-air burst explosion and surface burst explosion by using AT-Blast, RC-Blast, and Kinney and Graham's empirical equations, which are the semi-empirical analysis programs. As a result of analyzing the explosion pressure for the scaled distance and the incidence angle for the simplified analytical model, an appropriate analysis can be performed when the range of the scaled distance in the free-air burst explosion analysis was 0.3~0.461 and when the range of the scaled distance in the surface burst explosion analysis was 0.378~0.581. In terms of the incidence angle, the results analyzed within $45^{\circ}$ were considered to be appropriate.

  • Current geometric modeling and analysis are commonly based on B-Rep modeling and a finite elements method respectively. Furthermore, it is difficult to represent an object whose material property is heterogeneous using the B-Rep method because the B-Rep is basically used for homogeneous models. In addition, meshes are required to analyze a property of a model when the finite elements method is applied. However, the process of generating meshes from B-Rep is cumbersome and sometimes difficult especially when the model is deformed as time goes by because the topology of deforming meshes are changed. To overcome those problems in modeling and analysis including homogeneous and heterogeneous materials, we suggest a unified modeling and analysis method based on implicit representation of the model using R-function which is suggested by Rvachev. For implicit modeling of an object a distance field is approximated and blended for a complex object. Using the implicit function mesh-free analysis is possible where meshes are not necessary. Generally mesh-free analysis requires heavy computational cost compared to a finite elements method. To improve the computing time of function evaluation, we utilize GPU programming. Finally, we give an example of a simple pipe design problem and show modeling and analysis process using our unified modeling and analysis method.

  • This study focused on Spillover of Technology Trade against Post- BRICs of the Technology export of Korea. Therefore this study made an empirical analysis for investigating the competitiveness of technology export in Korea and using panel data 2003-2012 of technology trade data between 6 Countries(Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, Turkey, Vietnam). In particular, the study deduced the correlation between technology export in Korea using the variables of Gross Domestic Expenditure on R&D and Per capita GDP, distance, population, free-trade index, FDI, Technology-Intensive Manufactures, Pattern Investment fixed effect model in panel linear regression model. It is found that the Technology export of Korea SMEs made a significant effect on the pop, free_trade, and distance. and also it is found that the Technology export of Korea Big Business made a significant effect on the per-GDP, Fdi from Korea, free_trade, and distance. The results suggest that the study should use technology gap variables and the strategy for activating the Technology export of Korea should be made for future works.

  • In this paper, a distribution free approach to the parameter estimation of a simple bilinear model with periodic coefficients is presented. The proposed method relies on minimum distance estimator based on the autocovariances of the squared process. Consistency and asymptotic normality of the estimator, as well as hypotheses testing, are derived. Numerical experiments on simulated data sets are presented to highlight the theoretical results.

  • To understand and analyze SNS(Social Network Service) two important classes of networks, small-world and scale-free networks have gained a lot of research interests. In this study, a generalized network generation method is developed, which can produce small-world network, scale-free network, or network with the properties of both small-world and scale-free by controlling two input parameters. By tuning one parameter we can represent the small-world property and by tuning the other one we can represent both scale-free and small-world properties. For the network measures to represent small-world and scale-free properties clustering coefficient, average shortest path distance and power-law property are used. Using the model proposed in this study we can have more clear understanding about relationships between small-world network and scale-free network. Using numerical examples we have verified the effects of two parameters on clustering coefficient, average shortest path distance and power-law property. Through this investigation it can be shown that small-world network, scale-free network or both can be generated by tuning two input parameters properly.

  • This paper describes an automatic finite element(FE) mesh generation for three-dimensional structures consisting of free-form surfaces. This mesh generation process consists of three subprocesses: (a) definition of geometric model, i.e. analysis model, (b) generation of nodes, and (c) generation of elements. One of commercial solid modelers is employed for three-dimensional solid and shell structures. Node is generated if its distance from existing node points is similar to the node spacing function at the point. The node spacing function is well controlled by the fuzzy knowledge processing. The Delaunay method is introduced as a basic tool for element generation. Automatic generation of FE meshes for three-dimensional solid and shell structures holds great benefits for analyses. Practical performances of the present system are demonstrated through several mesh generations for three-dimensional complex geometry.
