A Study on the RPC Model Generation from the Physical Sensor Model

  • The rational polynomial coefficients (RPC) model is a generalized sensor model that is used as an alternative solution for the physical sensor model for IKONOS of the Space Imaging. As the number of sensors increases along with greater complexity, and the standard sensor model is needed, the applicability of the RPC model is increasing. The RPC model has the advantages in being able to substitute for all sensor models, such as the projective, the linear pushbroom and the SAR. This report aimed to generate a RPC model from the physical sensor model of the KOMPSAT-1(Korean Multi-Purpose Satellite) and aerial photography. The KOMPSAT-1 collects 510~730 nm panchromatic imagery with a ground sample distance (GSD) of 6.6 m and a swath width of 17 km by pushbroom scanning. The least square solution was used to estimate the RPC. In addition, data normalization and regularization were applied to improve the accuracy and minimize noise. This study found that the RPC model is suitable for both KOMPSAT-1 and aerial photography.

초등학생들의 먹이 피라미드 예측 모형 구성에서 과학적 추론의 역할 (Role of Scientific Reasoning in Elementary School Students' Construction of Food Pyramid Prediction Models)

  • This study explores how elementary school students construct food pyramid prediction models using scientific reasoning. Thirty small groups of sixth-grade students in the Kyoungki province (n=138) participated in this study; each small group constructed a food pyramid prediction model based on scientific reasoning, utilizing prior knowledge on topics such as biotic and abiotic factors, food chains, food webs, and food pyramid concepts. To understand the scientific reasoning applied by the students during the modeling process, three forms of qualitative data were collected and analyzed: each small group's discourse, their representation, and the researcher's field notes. Based on this data, the researcher categorized the students' model patterns into three categories and identified how the students used scientific reasoning in their model patterns. The study found that the model patterns consisted of the population number variation model, the biological and abiotic factors change model, and the equilibrium model. In the population number variation model, students used phenomenon-based reasoning and relation-based reasoning to predict variations in the number of producers and consumers. In the biotic and abiotic factors change model, students used relation-based reasoning to predict the effects on producers and consumers as well as on decomposers and abiotic factors. In the equilibrium model, students predicted that "the food pyramid would reach equilibrium," using relation-based reasoning and model-based reasoning. This study demonstrates that elementary school students can systematically elaborate on complicated ecology concepts using scientific reasoning and modeling processes.

Neural Network Based Disturbance Canceler with Feedback Error Learning for Nonholonomic Mobile Robots

  • Conventional disturbance rejection methods have to derive the inverse model of a system. However, the inverse model of n nonholonomic system is not unique, because an inverse it changes depending on initial conditions and desired values. A kind of internal model control (IMC) using feedback error learning is discussed for the motion control of nonholonomic mobile robots in this paper, The present method is different from a conventional IMC whose control system consists of an inverse model, a direct model and a filter. The present disturbance rejection method need not use a direct model, where the remaining two elements are composed of the same inverse model based on neural networks.

지구 환경에 대한 고등학생들의 정신모형 (High School Students' Mental Model about the Global Environment)

  • The objective of this study is to clarify how high school students recognize the mental model of the global environment and how they conceptualize the environment. Using the drawing and interview, 25 high school students participated in the survey and were asked to visualize the environmental elements of the global environment and describe the environment they portrayed. The dominant mental model in the present was Mental Model 3: the environment as a place impacted or modified by human activity. Yet, the partial mental model in the future was Mental Model 2: the environment as a place that supports human life. The implications to environmental science education are explored.

Optical Model of a Human Eye's Crystalline Lens Based on a Three-layer Liquid Lens

  • Based on liquid-lens technology and our previous findings on the optical model of the Chinese eye, the liquid lens is applied in the research of the crystalline-lens optical model. Theoretical models of three-layer liquid lenses are built with COMSOL software, and the effect of voltage on the shape of the interface between two liquids is analyzed. By polynomial fitting, different equations describing the interface shape are set up under different voltages. Finally, the optical system of the human eye with a three-layer liquid lens is built and analyzed with Zemax optical design software, and moreover the optical system models of emmetropia, myopia, and hyperopia are presented. This method to build a model of the human eye with a variable-focus liquid lens can provide a novel idea for more practical human-eye models for clinical regulation and control in the future.

환경보전시범학교 지원 사업의 운영 실태와 개선 방안 (Improvement of the Implementing and Supporting System for Environment Conservation Model Schools)

  • Since 1985, the Ministry of Environment has supported environmental education in schools through Environment Conservation Model School initiative. Selected elementary, middle, high schools and kindergartens were designated as model schools for environment conservation programs every 2 years to develop model cases that can be adopted at other schools to promote more structured and effective environmental education. These supporting programs played a central role in developing an environmental education model for formal schools and enhance the importance of environmental education in school curriculum. This study aims to evaluate the current statues of environment conservation model schools and support to environment conservation model school initiatives which have created basic framework to enable the continued development of environmental education. For the study, documents and reports from 1985 to 2005 were analyzed, which included operation guidelines for model schools, case studies, implementation reports along with the systematic analysis of documentations. Also this study included interviews and a survey with people responsible for running programs, and consultation processes with experts to address the current status and issues related to Environment Conservation Model School initiative. Based on the present status and issues, the recommendations for improving Environment Conservation Model School initiative were provided.

학교도서관 디지털자료실의 규모별 모형에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Model of School Digital Library Based Differentiated School′s Sizes)

  • 학교도서관은 질적으로 우수한 교육을 실현하기 위한 핵심 시설이며, 우리나라의 제7차 교육과정에서도 학생 스스로가 문제를 해결하는 자율적이며, 창조적인 인재 양성을 강조함으로써 학교도서관의 중요성이 더욱 증대하고 있다. 이러한 시대적 요청에 부응하여 교육인적자원부에서는 2001년부터 학교도서관 디지털자료실 설치 사업을 추진하고 있으며, 최근에는 학교도서관 활성화 종합방안을 발표한 바 있다. 그러나 학교도서관 디지털자료실은 설치 기준이나 지침 그리고 객관적인 모형에 의존하기보다는 학교 현장의 상황에 따라서 다양한 형태로 설치, 운영되고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본고에서는 학교도서관 디지털자료실이 갖추어야 할 적정 규모와 공간 구성 요소를 분석하고, 각급 학교의 현황을 고려하여 4개의 규모별 시설$\cdot$설비 모형(A형, B형)을 제시하고자 한다.

An Energy Consumption Model for Time Hopping IR-UWB Wireless Sensor Networks

  • In this paper we proposed an energy consumption model for IR-UWB wireless sensor networks. The model takes the advantages of PHY-MAC cross layer design, and we used slotted and un-slotted sleeping protocols to compare the energy consumption. We addressed different system design issues that are responsible to energy consumption and proposed an optimum model for the system design. We expect the slotted sleeping will consume less energy for bursty load than that of the un-slotted one. But if we consider latency, the un-slotted sleeping model performs better than the slotted sleeping case.

중학생의 전류에 대한 학습전 개념과 관계 현상 관찰후의 설명 (Middle school students' conceptions related to electric current and their explanation after observation of related phenomena before school instruction)

  • The purposes of this study are to investigate Korean middle school students' conceptions related to electric current, and to analyze their changes in explanations about current after their observations of the related phenomena The subjects of the study were 20 students from one middle school in Seoul The conclusions of the studty are as follows: 1, Korean middle school students have various misconceptions such as current consumption model, sequential model, monopole model, non-various current model, the most students have sequential model' 2. When an evidence is introduced, some students do not perceive the phenomena as the teacher attempts. 3. When an evidence was introduced, after observation of the evidence some of the students who had misconceptions changed their explanatios, which were not always correct explanations, and the others did not change their expanations, which their observations were mostly incorrect.

GDI 분무거동 해석을 위한 혼합분열모델 및 증발모델의 검증 (Validation of Hybrid Breakup Model and Vaporization Model for Analysis of GDI Spray Behavior)

  • The objective of this study is to validate the hybrid breakup model and the vaporization model for GDI spray analysis at vaporization and non-vaporization conditions. The atomization process is modeled by using hybrid breakup model that is composed of Linearized Instability Sheet Atomization (LISA) model and Aerodynamically Progressed Taylor Analogy Breakup (APTAB) model. The vaporization process is modeled by using modified Abramzon & Sirignano model. The exciplex fluorescence method was used for comparing the calculated results with the experimental ones. The experiment and the calculation were performed at the ambient pressures of 0.1 MPa, 0.5 MPa and 1.0 MPa and the ambient temperature of 293K and 473K.
