Application of Total Quality Management in Developing Quality Assessment Model: The Case of Vietnamese Higher Education

  • The shift from elite education to mass education in Vietnam has met the demand for education for everybody as well as for quality human resource talent for an emerging nation. Under the resource constraint, understanding the quality dimensions of education and its priority level is important for effective and efficient policies. This study was carried out using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies to develop quality criteria and a ranking model. Two rounds of in-depth interviews were conducted with fifteen experts in the field, who were rectors, employers, and recruitment specialists to develop the quality framework applied in Vietnamese universities under total quality management (TQM), starting from the input of the senior secondary school leavers, through a teaching process to the output. The first round of interviews were unstructured questionnaires designed to explore the main factors in quality assessment model. The second round affirmed the experts' agreement on the assessment model. Then, fuzzy logic was applied to rank eight criteria in the quality assessment model into priority order: cost, teaching and administrative staff, leadership, curriculum, student-related factors, internationalization, admissions, and campus. The results are critical for identifying the necessary actions to enhance the education quality and to further research on the optimal quality model.

Composite Measures of Supercomputer Technology

  • We have developed composite measures of supercomputer technology, reflecting various factors of supercomputers using Martino's scoring model. CPUs, accelerators, memory, interconnection networks, and power consumption are chosen as factors of the model. The weight values of the factors are derived based on a survey of 129 domestic and international experts. The measured values are then standardized to integrate measurement units of the factors in the model. This model has been applied to 50 supercomputers, and rank correlation analysis was performed using representative measures. As a consequence, the ranking drastically changes except for the 1st and 2nd supercomputers on the TOP500. In addition, the characteristics of memory and interconnection networks influence the ranking, and the results demonstrate that the proposed model has low correlations with HPL and HPCG but a high correlation with Green500. This indicates that power consumption is an important factor that has a significant effect on the measures of supercomputer technology. In addition, it is determined that the differences between the HPL ranking and the proposed model ranking are influenced by power consumption, CPU theoretical peak performance, and main memory bandwidth in order of significance. In conclusion, the composite measures proposed in this study are more suitable for comprehensively describing supercomputer technology than existing performance measures. The findings of this study are expected to support decision making related to management and policy in the procurement and operation of supercomputers.

  • Based on Merrill's instructional theory, this study pursued to develop a demonstration-based architectural design class operation model for the 3rd year undergraduate students taking a Spring semester design studio class. The model was designed and used particularly to improve architectural thinking abilities of under-motivated learners. Learning effects of the model were examined based on the preliminary data obtained for 3 consecutive years, 2017 through 2019. A total of 52 students were participated in the class and observed by the instructor. Once developed, the model has been continually updated and improved based on results of each class operation. Five types of demo. were used in the model. First, direct contacts of the instructor with under-motivated learners were turned out to be the most preferred demo(demo. 4), while watching and listening of the demo(demo.3) between the instructor and motivated learners taking place in class was ranked at the second place. Belief of under-motivated learners on the instructor as a professional should be highly valued for improving their architectural thinking abilities. Second, motivated peers' direct help for under-motivated ones was placed in the third rank. Social attitudes of under-motivated learners towards accepting motivated ones' helps were determined the particular demo's appropriateness. Third, a set of guidelines for operating the model in undergraduate design studio classes were developed and suggested.

저급탄의 열분해 및 촤-$CO_2$ 가스화 반응의 속도론적 연구 (Kinetic Studies of Pyrolysis and Char-$CO_2$ Gasification on Low Rank Coals)

  • 인도네시아 아역청탄인 ABK탄과 중국 갈탄(lignite)과 같은 저급탄에 대한 열분해와 촤-$CO_2$ 가스화반응에 대한 실험을 비등온의 승온 조건에서 열중량분석기(Thermogravimetric analysis, TGA)를 이용하여 수행하였다. 열분해 속도는 2단계, 1차의 열분해 모델(Kissinger 법의 변형)에 의해 잘 모사되었다. 촤의 $CO_2$ 가스화반응은 수축 핵 모델에 적용하여 초기의 활성화 에너지가 ABK탄은 189.1 kJ/mol, lignite는 260.5 kJ/mol의 값을 얻었으며, 수축 핵 모델에 의해 잘 모사되었다. 특히, 촤의 $CO_2$ 가스화반응에서 활성화 에너지는 무연탄의 결과와 유사하였으며, 다른 모델이나 석탄의 종류에 따라 큰 차이를 보였다.

이산화탄소 분위기에서 K2CO3, Na2CO3, CaCO3 및 Dolomite가 첨가된 저급탄의 가스화에 대한 반응특성연구 (Kinetic study on Low-rank Coal Including K2CO3, Na2CO3, CaCO3 and Dolomite Gasification under CO2 Atmosphere)

  • 열중량분석기를 이용하여 이산화탄소 분위기에서 알칼리계 염류가 에코(Eco)탄의 가스화 반응에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. $750{\sim}900^{\circ}C$에서 탄산칼륨, 탄산나트륨, 탄산칼슘, 백운석(Dolomite) 7 wt%의 알칼리염을 첨가한 것과 원탄을 이용하여 실험을 진행하였다. $850^{\circ}C$에서의 가스화 결과, 이산화탄소의 농도가 증가할수록 반응속도가 증가하는 경향을 관찰하였다. 그러나 70% 이상의 농도에서는 반응속도의 증가량이 크게 증가하지 않음을 관찰하였다. 가스화 반응속도는 7 wt% 탄산나트륨 > 7 wt% 탄산칼륨 > 원탄> 7 wt% 백운석 > 7 wt% 탄산칼슘 순으로 나타났다. $700^{\circ}C$, $800^{\circ}C$, $850^{\circ}C$ 그리고 $900^{\circ}C$의 등온, 상압조건에서 가스화 실험 결과, 온도가 증가할수록 반응속도가 증가함을 관찰하였다. 차(char)-이산화탄소 가스화 반응의 기-고체 모델은 volumetric reaction model (VRM)이 탄소 전환율 거동을 가장 잘 묘사했다. 이를 이용하여 얻은 탄산나트륨의 활성화 에너지는 83 kJ/mol로 가장 낮게 얻어졌다.

기독청년을 위한 성교육 집단상담 프로그램 개발과 효과 (Development and Effect of Sexuality Education Group Counseling Program for Christian Young Adults)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 기독청년들을 대상으로 성교육 집단상담 프로그램을 개발하여 그 효과를 검증하는데 있다. 경남 C시에 소재하는 C교회와 S교회에 출석하는 20~35세 미혼 기독청년 30명을 대상으로 실험집단 15명에게 주 1회, 회당 120분, 총 12회기의 프로그램을 실시하였으며, 통제집단 15명은 어떠한 처치도 하지 않았다. 프로그램은 크랩의 성경적 상담모델과 맥민의 인지치료를 기초하여 인지치료기술 12가지를 활용하여 구성하였으며, 효과 검증을 위하여 전경숙과 이효영 그리고 이선자의 성지식 척도와 호선민의 성태도 척도 그리고 선미경이 개발한 성적의사결정 척도를 사용하였다. 자료분석은 척도의 신뢰도 검사(Cronbach's α 검사), χ2-test, Mann-Whitney U test 그리고 Friedman 검정 및 Wilcoxon signed-rank test를 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 기독청년들의 성지식이 증가하였고 보수적인 성태도가 나타났으며, 성적의사결정 능력이 향상되어 프로그램이 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 본 연구가 기독청년들에게 성적존재로서의 진정한 의미를 성경에서 인지하도록 하여 창조의 목적과 질서를 따라 살 때 자신과 이웃 그리고 하나님과의 관계 회복을 누리며 건강한 생활을 하도록 도움을 주는 교회 내 프로그램임을 시사한다.

한국 도시의 규모분포와 도시공간구조 분석 - 광역도시통계권을 중심으로 (Analysis of City Size Distribution and Spatial Structure - with Korean Metroplitan Statistical Areas (MSA))

  • 도시의 성장이 경제발전에 긍정적인 영향을 가져온다는 점에도 불구하고 아직까지 우리나라에서는 도시의 구조를 파악하기 위한 연구가 상당히 미흡한 실정이다. 본고에서는 도시 간 규모의 분포구조와 도시 내 인구밀도함수 등을 통한 내적구조를 새로이 정의한 광역도시통계권을 기준으로 살펴보았다. 먼저, 도시순위규모법칙의 계수분석을 통한 한국의 광역도시통계권 간 인구분포구조를 비교하였다. 한국은 서울광역도시통계권의 규모가 상대적으로 매우 크며 행정구역 상의 인구규모 분포보다 실질적으로 훨씬 집중되어 있다. 이는 서울광역도시통계권이 상대적으로 지나치게 거대하든가 혹은 부산이나 대구, 대전 광역도시통계권의 성장이 상대적으로 뒤떨어진 것으로 해석된다. 한편 지리정보프로그램(Arc GIS)을 이용하여 도시 내의 중심상업지역에서부터의 거리에 따른 인구밀도함수나 부동산가격 등을 통하여 도시의 내적구조를 분석하였다. 표준도시모델(Standard Urban Model)에 따르면 일반적으로 도심에서 외곽으로 갈수록 인구밀도와 부동산 가격이 하락하는 형태를 보이지만 서울광역도시통계권의 외곽에서는 상대적으로 다른 광역도시통계권과는 달리 그 하향곡선이 무척 완만하였고, 이는 결국 도심확산(Urban Sprawl)이 활발히 일어나고 있음을 의미한다. 한편, 울산, 광주권, 그리고 수원-화성-오산권에서 인구분포와 고용분포 간의 공간적 불일치 정도가 큰 편이고 대전권과 인천권에서 작은 편으로 나타났다. 이러한 도시의 구조에 대한 분석은 지역정책의 운용에 있어서 많은 시사점을 줄 수 있다.

Roles of Dopaminergic $D_1\;and\;D_2$ Receptors in Catecholamine Release from the Rat Adrenal Medulla

  • The aim of the present study was designed to establish comparatively the inhibitory effects of $D_1$-like and $D_2$-like dopaminergic receptor agonists, SKF81297 and R(-)-TNPA on the release of catecholamines (CA) evoked by cholinergic stimulation and membrane depolarization from the isolated perfused model of the rat adrenal medulla. SKF81297 $(30{\mu}M)$ and R-(-)-TNPA $(30{\mu}M)$ perfused into an adrenal vein for 60 min, produced great inhibition in the CA secretory responses evoked by ACh $(5.32{\times}10^{-3}\;M)$, DMPP $(10^{-4}\;M)$, McN-A-343 $(10^{-4}\;M)$, high $K^+$ $(5.6{\times}10^{-2}\;M)$, Bay-K-8644 $(10{\mu}M)$, and cyclopiazonic acid $(10{\mu}M)$, respectively. For the release of CA evoked by ACh, high $K^+$, DMPP, McN-A-343, Bay-K-8644 and cyclopiazonic acid, the following rank order of inhibitory potency was obtained: SKF81297>R-(-)-TNPA. However, R(+)-SCH23390, a selectve $D_1$-like dopaminergic receptor antagonist, and S(-)-raclopride, a selectve $D_2$-like dopaminergic receptor antagonist, enhanced the CA secretory responses evoked by ACh, high $K^+$, DMPP, McN-A-343, Bay-K-8644 and cyclopiazonic acid only for $0{\sim}4$ min. The rank order for the enhancement of CA release evoked by high $K^+$, McN-A-343 and cyclopiazonic acid was R(+)-SCH23390>S(-)-raclopride. Also, the rank order for ACh, DMPP and Bay-K-8644 was S(-)-raclopride > R(+)-SCH23390. Taken together, these results demonstrate that both SKF81297 and R-(-)-TNPA inhibit the CA release evoked by stimulation of cholinergic (both nicotinic and muscarinic) receptors and the membrane depolarization from the isolated perfused rat adrenal gland without affecting the basal release, respectively, but both R(+)-SCH23390 and S(-)-raclopride facilitate the CA release evoked by them. It seems likely that the inhibitory effects of SKF81297 and R-(-)-TNPA are mediated by the activation of $D_1$-like and $D_2$-like dopaminergic receptors located on the rat adrenomedullary chromaffin cells, respectively, whereas the facilitatory effects of R(+)-SCH23390 and S(-)-raclopride are mediated by the blockade of $D_1$-like and $D_2$-like dopaminergic receptors, respectively: this action is possibly associated with extra- and intracellular calcium mobilization. Based on these results, it is thought that the presence of dopaminergic $D_1$ receptors may play an important role in regulation of the rat adrenomedullary CA secretion, in addition to well-known dopaminergic $D_2$ receptors.

내력밀도법을 이용한 텐세그러티 구조물의 안정화 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Stabilization Process of Tensegrity System using the Force Density Method)

  • Tensegrity systems are stable structures which are reticulated spatial structures composed of compressive straight members, struts and cables. But there are some difficulties concerning surface stability, surface formation and construction method. One of the ways to solve this problem reasonably is combination of tesile members and rigid members. This structure is a type of flexible strutural system which is unstable initially because the cable material has little initial rigidity. Therefore tensegrity structure need to be introduced to the Initial stress for the self-equilibrated system having stable state. The rigidification of tensegrity systems is related to selfstress states which can be achieved only when geometrical and mechanical requirements are simultaneously satisfied. In this paper, for the stabilization of tesnsegrity structure it is proposed the modified self-equilibrated equation and the range of the various geometrical parameter about unit system. And we generate the model of double layed single curvature arch using the new squew quadruplex unit system.

영아기 모-자녀 상호작용 중재프로그램 효과 연구 - 영아 신호 민감성 증진을 중심으로 - (Effects of Mother-Infant Interaction Intervention Program : Enhancing Mother's Sensitivity to Infant Cues)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a mother-infant interaction intervention program based on enhancing sensitivity to infant cues. Subjects were 9 infants, 3-26 months of age and their mothers, 6 Korean, 2 Mongolian and 1 North Korean. The intervention program was based on the Nursing Child Assessment Satellite Training model(NCAST; Barnard, 1994); data were analyzed by Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann-Whitney Test. Results were that the interaction score and infant caring confidence score of the intervention group was higher than the non-intervention group. Mother's sensitive responses to infant cues enhanced the degree of mother-infant interaction.
