Microbial Transformation of Aniline to Acetaminophen

  • In order to obtain acetaminophen, a popular analgesic-antipyretic, through microbial p-hydroxylation and N-acetylation of aniline, various fungi and bacteria were secreened. Among them, Streptomyces species were chosen for strain improvement by the use of interspecific protoplast fusion technique. Two interspecific fused strains were developed between S. rimosus (N-cetylation function) and S. aureofaciens (p-hydroxylation function) and also between S. lividans and S. globisporus. For efficient protoplast fusion and cell wall regeneration, various conditions were examined. In a typical experiment of mixed S rimosus ($pro^- \;his^-$) and S. aureofaciens ($ilv^-$) protoplasts with 40% (w/v) polythylene glycol 3350 (PEG) for 3 min gave $8.3\times10^{-7}$ of fusion frequency. Treatment of mixed S. lividans (pant-) and S. globisporus (leu-) protoplasts with 50% (w/v) PEG for 3 min at $30^\circ{C}$ gave $1.2\times10^{-6}$ of frequency. Among the fused strains, up to 40-50% increase in p-hydroxylation power was observed. To investigate the possibility of plasmid involvement in p-hydroxylation power was observed. To investigate the possibility of plasmid involvement in p-hydroxylation of acetanilide, plasmid curing was attempted. We found that cells treated with acriflavine (at the frequency of 100%) and cells regenerated from protoplsts of S. auroefaciens (2% frequency) lost their p-hydroxylation function.

가청 주파수 영역의 고주파와 순환 중복 검사를 이용한 무선 데이터 전송 알고리즘 (Wireless Data Transmission Algorithm Using Cyclic Redundancy Check and High Frequency of Audible Range)

  • 본 논문에서는 가청 주파수 영역 중 사람들에게 거의 들리지 않는 고주파와 순환 중복 검사 기법을 이용하여 스마트 기기 간의 신뢰성 있는 데이터를 무선으로 전송하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안 알고리즘은 스마트 기기의 내장 스피커에서 출력할 수 있는 가청 주파수 영역(20 Hz~22 kHz) 중 고주파 영역인 18 kHz~22 kHz를 사용한다. 이때 데이터의 전송량을 높이기 위해 고주파 영역 1(18.0 kHz~21.2 kHz)에서 여러 개의 주파수를 혼합하여 전달하며, 이와 동시에 전송 데이터의 정확성을 높이기 위해 고주파 영역 2(21.2 kHz~22.0 kHz)에서 순환 중복 검사를 위한 체크섬을 전달한다. 제안 방법의 데이터 전송 속도와 정확성을 확인하기 위해 스마트 북과 스마트 기기 간에 데이터 전달 실험을 하였다. 그 결과 평균 235 ms에 32 bits 데이터를 전송할 수 있었으며, 전송 성공률은 99.47%, 그리고 순환 중복 검사에 의한 에러 검출률은 0.53%인 것을 확인하였다. 따라서 제안 방법은 스마트 기기 간에 무선으로 데이터를 전송할 수 있는 유용한 기술이 될 것이다.

유어낚시인구의 사회경제학적 특성과 출조빈도함수의 추정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Socio-economic Characteristics of the Angler Population and the Estimation of A Fishing Frequency Function)

  • This article is to estimate the fishing frequency function in Korean recreational fishery with respect to socio-economic characteristics of anglers. First, the study described the characteristics of the entire angler population on the view points of 9 socio-economic variables. And then, the study divided the total angler population into three groups of in-land, sea, and mixed angler populations in order to investigate the differences in their characteristics. The study could confirm the existence of differences in regions, size of regions, and educational levels between the in - land and the sea angler populations by testing heterogeneity in the frequency table. The fishing frequency function is estimated using Poisson regression model in order to accomodate the count data(non-negative discrete random variable) aspects of the fishing frequency. However, the model specification error is found due to overdispersion of data. The model exhibits the lack of goodness of fit. The negative binomial regression model is adopted to cure the overdispersion of the data as an alternative estimation methodology. Finally, the study can confirm overdispersion does not exist in the model any more and the goodness of fit improved significantly to the reasonable level. The results of estimation of fishing frequency population modeled by the negative binomial regression models are following. The three variables of region, sex, and education have effects on the decision making process of fishing frequency in the case of in-land recreation fishery. On the other hand, the three variables of sex, age, and marriage status do the same job in the case of sea angler population. Among the left-over variables, both income and use of Internet variables now affect on the process in mixed angler population. Finally, the results of whole angler population show that all of the previous variables are proven to be statistically significant due to the summation of data with all three sub-groups of angler population.

  • A new mixed approximation method is proposed for the model reduction of high order linear and time-invariant dynamic systems. This method makes allowance for stability and feature retention simultaneously. After defining dominant frequency range which affects relative stability of systems, a part of denominator is obtained using the energy dispersion method and tests are obtained using dominant frequency response matching method. The proposed method reflects the characteristic of the original system more faithfully and guarantees absolute stability of the reduction model.

  • Thick composite laminated plates is considered in 3D finite-element. To consider continuity of transverse stresses and displacement field, mixed finite-element has been developed by using layerwise theory and the minimum potential energy principle. Mixed finite-element has been enforced through the thick direction, Z, of a laminated plate by considering six degree-of-freedoms per node. Six degree-of-freedoms are three displacement components in the coordinate axes directions and three transverse stress components ${\sigma}_z,\;{\tau}_{xz},\;{\tau}_{yz}$. The model maintain the fundamental elasticity relations that are stress-strain relation and displacement-strain relation, because the transverse stress components invoked as nodal degrees of freedom by using the fundamental elasticity relationship between th components of stress and displacement. Random vibration analysis of the model is performed by computing consistent mass matrix and computing covariance in frequency domain technique.

  • This study investigates the use of mixed $H_2/H_{$\infty}$ and $\mu$-synthesis to construct a robust controller for the benchmark problem. The model treated in the problem is a coupled three-inertial system that reflects the dynamics of mechanical vibrations. This kind of problem requires to be satisfied the robust performance (both in the time and frequency-domain specifications). We, first, adopt the mixed $H_2/H_{$\infty}$ theory to design a feedback controller K(s). Next, $\mu$-synthesis method is applied to the overall system to make use of structured parametric uncertainty. This process permits higher levels of controller authority and reduces the conservativeness of the controller. Finally, the feedforward controller is also used to improve the transient response of the output. We confirm that all design specifications except a complementary sensitivity condition can be achieved.

  • 60GHz 대역 wireless personal area network(WPAN)을 위한 QPSK 복조기를 보인다. Mixed-mode QPSK 복조방식을 이용하여 전력소모와 면적을 줄였다. 설계된 회로는 60nm CMOS Logic 공정을 통해 제작되었으며, 4.8GHz 캐리어에서 최대 4.8Gb/s의 QPSK신호를 복조할 수 있다. 이 주파수에서, 복조기는 1.2V전원에서 54 mW를 소모하며, $150{\times}150{\mu}m^2$의 면적을 차지한다. 제작된 칩을 이용하여, 60GHz 링크에서 1.7GSymbol/s QPSK신호의 송선 및 복조 실험결과를 보인다.

Numerical Study on Frequency Up-conversion in USPR using MATLAB

  • In this paper, the O-mode ultrashort-pulse reflectometry (USPR) millimeter-wave signals that propagate into the plasma and cover a frequency bandwidth of 33-158 GHz are examined numerically using MATLAB. Two important processes are involved in the computation: the propagation of the USPR impulse signal through a waveguide and the frequency up-conversion using millimeter-wave mixers. These mixers are limited to intermediate frequency signals that are less than 500 mV; thus, it is necessary to disperse the impulse signal into a chirped waveform using the waveguide. The stationary phase method is utilized to derive a closed-form formula for a chirped waveform under the assumption that the USPR impulse is Gaussian. In the process of frequency up-conversion, the chirped waveform is mixed with the mixer LO signal, and the lower frequency components of the RF signal are removed using high pass filters.

독립성분 분석기법에 의한 심전도 신호의 왜곡 보정 (Suppressing Artefacts in the ECG by Independent Component Analysis)

  • In this study, Independent Component Analysis (ICA) algorithms are suggested to extract the original ECG part from the mixed signal contaminated with the unwanted frequency components and especially 60Hz power line disturbances. With this aim, we implement a novel method to suppress the baseline-wandering disturbances and power line artefacts contained in patch-electrodes sensory ECG data by separating the unmixed signal with finding the optimal weight W based on Kurtosis value. With applying brutal force and gradient ascent searching algorithm to find W, we can conclude that the unwanted frequency components especially in the ambulatory ECG data can be eliminated by Independent Component Analysis.
