Temperature-dependent, solution EPR spectra of two mixed-valence copper(II)-copper(I) complexes have been simulated by using modified Bloch equations. The transition probability for the intramolecular electron transfer is determined from the simulation. The transition probabilities have been fitted to the Arrhenius equation to derive the activation energies. The transition probability also varies according to the solvent used.
Preferential solvation (PS) phenomena of solutes based on solvent polarity, $E_T$ and AN, were studied by UV/vis. and NMR spectra in MeOH binary mixtures. According to the extent of solvent-solvent interaction, different solvation phenomena were found. PS concept was applied to explain the reactivity of tert-butyl halides solvolysis. The findings of solvation phenomena have been related to the rate of solvolysis and PS suggested as a reason for the solvent dependence of the rates of reaction. Moreover, we found that the results of principal components analysis using six parameters are in good accordance with the results of PS phenomena in mixed methanol systems.

Understanding the mechanisms that control and concentrate the observed electrospray ionisation (ESI) response from peptides is important. Controlling these mechanisms can improve signal-to-noise ratio in the mass spectrum, and enhances the generation of intact ions, and thus, improves the detection of peptides when analysing mixtures. The effects of different mixtures of aqueous: organic solvents (25, 50, 75%; v/v): formic acid solution (at pH 3.26) compositions on the ESI response and charge-state distribution (CSD) during mass spectrometry (MS) were determined in a group of biologically active peptides (molecular wt range 1.3 - 3.3 kDa). The ESI response is dependent on type of organic solvent in the mobile phase mixture and therefore, solvent choice affects optimal ion intensities. As expected, intact peptide ions gave a more intense ESI signal in polar protic solvent mixtures than in the low polarity solvent. However, for four out of the five analysed peptides, neither the ESI response nor the CSD were affected by the volatility of the solvent mixture. Therefore, in solvent mixtures, as the composition changes during the evaporation processes, the $pK_b$ of the amino acid composition is a better predictor of multiple charging of the peptides.

Lycium barbarum extract has a high potential to be developed as a health functional food due to the various health-promoting effects of Lycium barbarum. This study analyzed changes in nutritional and functional components depending on the extraction solvent (purified water and a mixture of purified water and alcohol) and the condition of the sample. The nutritional components (carbohydrates, protein, fat, ash), organic acids, amino acids, total phenolic compounds, and total flavonoids of the extract produced during the extraction process were analyzed. The nutritional composition and functional substances of the extracts showed some differences depending on the type of solvent and the condition of the sample. The amounts of crude protein (7.61%), crude fat (1.63%), carbohydrate (90.22%), and ash (0.54%) of dried Lycium barbarum extract using purified water as a solvent were similar to those of the powder sample extract. The highest content of citric acid was 4.31 mg/mL, similar to the case of acetic acid, when the powder sample used a mixture of purified water and alcohol as a solvent. The highest amino acid content was 357.39 mg/mL when the powder sample was mixed with purified water and alcohol as a solvent. The total amount of phenolic compounds was 686.16 g/L when the powder sample was extracted with a mixture of purified water and alcohol as a solvent. The highest total flavonoid content was 111.32 g/L when the powder sample was extracted with a mixture of purified water and alcohol as a solvent.
Racemic tris-oxalatocobaltate (III) complex ions were optically resolved by an optical active complex, ${\Delta}$-tris-ethylenediamine cobalt (III), and then racemization of ${\bigwedge}-[Co(ox)_3]^{3-}$ obtained was investigated in various mixed solvent such as water-organic solvent (organic solvents=ethanol, iso-propyl alcohol, acetone, and dioxane). The rate of racemization was increased with following order; water < ethanol < acetone < isopropyl alcohol < dioxane; which is the same order for polarizability of organic solvent added. Considering ${\Delta}H^{\neq},\;{\Delta}S^{\neq}$ and above facts for the racemization of ${\bigwedge}-[Co(ox)_3]^{3-}$, it seems to be twist mechanism of plausible mechanisms.
In this study, the variation in surface morphology of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) thin films treated with a flow of acetone vapor assisted by nitrogen carrier gas was investigated. The CuPc nanorods with similar dimensions were well dispersed throughout the whole film surfaces after ~20 min. of treatment. However, the electronic absorption spectra only changed slightly, which indicates that molecular stacking was not altered during treatment. This treating method is simple and more advantageous compared to other solvent treating technologies such as mixed solvent spray treatment using organic solvents and water since it requires relatively mild treating conditions and does not need the presence of water.

The carbonyl stretching vibration, νC=O of 2-cyclohexene-1-one, is in Fermi resonance with a combination tone. The amount of Fermi resonance interaction between these two modes is dependent upon the amount of solute/solvent interaction due to hyd rogen bonding between the carbonyl oxygen and the solvent proton. The corrected νC=O frequency of 2-cyclohexene-1-one occurs at a lower frequency than the observed νC=O mode of cyclohexanone, possibly caused by expanded conjugation effects. The carbonyl stretching modes of cyclic ketones were also affected by interaction with the ROH/CCl4 mixed solvent system.
The solvolyses of anthraquinone-2-carbonyl chloride (1) were studied kinetically in 27 pure and various mixed solvents. The analysis using the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation in the solvolyses of anthraquinone-2-carbonyl chloride (1) obtained the l value of $2.11{\pm}0.11$, the m value of $0.54{\pm}0.06$, and the correlation coefficient of 0.955. The solvolysis reaction of 1 might proceed via an associative $S_N2$ mechanism enhancing bond making than bond breaking in the transition state (TS). This interpretation is further supported by a relatively large solvent kinetic isotope effect (SKIE, 2.27).

Nickel recovery method was studied by the wet process from the catalyst used in hydrogenation process. Nickel content in waste catalyst was about 16%. At the waste catalyst leaching system by the alkaline solution, selective leaching of nickel was possible by amine complex formation reaction from ammonia water and ammonium chloride mixed leachate. The best leaching condition of nickel from mixed leachate was acquired at the condition of pH 8. LIX65N as chelating solvent extractant was used to recover nickel from alkaline leachate. The purity of recovered nickel was higher than 99.5%, and the whole quantity of nickel was recovered from amine complex.
In the solvent extraction of Ru(IV) with Alamine336, it was found that Ru took part in the reaction as $RuCl_{6}_^{2-}$ in the HCl concentration range of 1 to 5 M. Interaction parameter between hydrogen ion and $RuCl_{6}_^{2-}$ was estimated by applying Bromley equation to the extraction data. From the mixed solutions of Pd(II) and Ru(IV), the distribution coefficients of Pd were found to be higher than those of Ru in the experimental ranges. Separation factor between Pd and Ru rapidly increased with the decrease of Alamine336 concentration. About 60% of the Ru from the mixed solutions was extracted by TBP at 8.3 M HCl, while Pd was not extracted in the HCl concentration range of 1.6 to 8.3 M.
