Converter steel slag(BOF slag) is a vast amount of solid waste generated in the steelmaking process which has very low utilization rate in Korea. Due to the presence of free CaO which can derive bad volume stability in BOF slag, it usually land filled. For recycling BOF and identify its applicability as fine aggregate, this study investigates the fundamental characteristics of mortar with cement replaced ferronickel slag(FNS), which has the potential to be used as a binder. The results suggest that the mineral phases of BOF slag mainly include larnite(CaSiO4), mayenite(Ca12Al14O33) and wuestite(FeO) while olivine crystallines are shown in FNS. The results of flow and setting time reveals that the flowability and process of hardening increased when the amount of FNS and BOF slag incorporated was increased. The length change shows that the amount of change in the length of the mortar was almost constant regardless of mix proportion while compressive strength was reduced. Micro structure test results revealed that FNS or/and BOF slag mix took a long time to react in the cement matrix to form a complete hydration products. To achieve the efficient utilization of B OF slag as construction materials, proper replacement rate is necessary.

The aim of shotcrete is to increase the bearing capacity and to protect the excavated surface from erosion by preventing falling of rock mass. Shotcreting method is divided into two types as dry process and wet process. Since 1997, wet process method has been used more frequently than dry process method in field works. The failure to bond, so called rebound, occurs in many case during shotcrete works. The excess amount of rebound has a significant effect on the total construction cost. For example, material and craft-man cost increases, the shooting time delays due to deceleration of work execution stage, work efficiency of craft-man decreases and additional cost to remove the muck generates. In this study, therefore, the experimental analysis of rebound amount and strength was conducted by analyzing the actual construction data for wet process type of shotcreting method upon accelerator contents. Also, the effective and rational method was suggested, which can be actually implemented in the Korea construction sites.

This study was carried out to search for an effect on strengths of a pozzolan and a high-early strength cements due to accelerating the initial setting and a rate of strength development at early age, and to obtain the effects applicable for structural construction works safety in the cold winter weather. The results of the study were as follows: 1. The early strength of high-early strength cement was higher than an ordinary portland cement(Type I). 2. High-early strength cement had a characteristic suitable for construction works in the cold weather due to the rate of acceleration of the eary strength. 3. When using pozzolan cements, a weight proportion should be considered in mix design since the pozzolan cement has a lower specific gravity than other portland cements. 4. It was desirable for the pozzolan cement to shorten the storage period since particles of the pozzolan cement was so fine that it was likely to weathering.
This study organized data from 2000 to 2014 for 20 grid-connected countries in Europe and analyzed the determinants of carbon emissions through the panel GLS method considering the problem of heteroscedasticity and autocorrelation. At the same time, the effect of introducing ETS was considered by dividing the sample period as of 2005 when the European emission trading system was introduced. Carbon emissions from individual countries were used as dependent variables, and proportion of generation by each source, power self-sufficiency ratio of neighboring countries, power production from resource-holding countries, concentration of power sources, total energy consumption per capita in the industrial sector, tax of electricity, net electricity export per capita, and size of national territory per capita. According to the estimation results, the proportion of nuclear power and renewable energy generation, concentration of power sources, and size of the national territory area per capita had a negative (-) effect on carbon emissions both before and after 2005. On the other hand, the proportion of coal power generation, the power supply and demand rate of neighboring countries, the power production of resource-holding countries, and the total energy consumption per capita in the industrial sector were found to have a positive (+) effect on carbon emissions. In addition, the proportion of gas generation had a negative (-) effect on carbon emissions, and tax of electricity were found to have a positive (+) effect. However, all of these were only significant before 2005. It was found that net electricity export per capita had a negative (-) effect on carbon emissions only after 2005. The results of this study suggest macroscopic strategies to reduce carbon emissions to green growth, suggesting mid- to long-term power mix optimization measures considering the electricity trade market and their role.
Usage of bicycle has been supported the universal reduction of energy consumption and $CO_2$. For the same purpose, new constructions for long length bike roads are planned in Korea. Recently, laboratory tests of physical properties and resistance against environmental loading about optimum mix design of roller compacted concrete, that have advantages of high structural performance by cement hydration and aggregate interlocking, simple construction procedure and low construction cost, are performed for the effective construction of new bike roads. However, properties of roller compacted concrete had different results between laboratory and field tests since it had different compaction method. Also, construction method of roller compacted concrete are not defined for the application of bike roads since it had different demand performance such as thin pavement thickness, low strength and etc with road pavements. Thus, in this experimental research was launched to evaluate the core properties, visual inspection, compaction ratio, water content, thickness reduction rate of roller compaction, skid resistance and roughness by experimental construction about variable mix proportion and compaction method based on laboratory test results. And construction method of roller compacted concrete pavement were suggested for the application of bike roads.

Rubber deposited during aircraft landing is known as the main cause of reducing surface friction force on wet surfaces. Thus, rubber deposits are removed at regular intervals for sae airplane landing. The high-pressure waterblast method, widely used for the removal of rubber deposits, is regarded as the main cause for the loss of surface material because in this method, water hits the surface directly at a high pressure. In this study, a rubber removal primer is developed to reduce surface damage by lowering the pressure of waterblast relatively during the removal of rubber deposits such that the deposits are removed efficiently even with a lower water pressure. To achieve this, basic materials appropriate for the primer were selected and their performance, penetration rate, and site applicability were evaluated. Based on the evaluations, the proportion of additive required for improving the performance of the basic materials was first determined. Then, the optimum mix ratio was derived through the evaluation of the effect on pavements, and the development of the rubber removal primer was completed.
The pulished works on Accelerated Curing Effect were generally performed around from 1960 to 1970th century for 18 to 24 hours - total curing periods. It is not possible to define the effect of temperature rise because those results were obtaine mainly by using the manually operated steam-curing tank. Thus, it may not be available to apply those data immediately on the domestic PC wall production line. The testing specimens were made from the standard mix proportion according to those of domestic PC factories to establish a basic data for the Accelerated Curing Effect. The experimental tests were conducted according to the conditions of each sub-curing periods. By comparing the results of compression tests on de-molded and 28-day water-curing specimens, we find that the most effective curing condition to obtain more than the required design strength after 28 day of water curing may be as follows: the presteaming period does not affect seriously and less than$30^{circ}C/hr$- the rate of temperature rise andless than $82^{circ}C$ - maximum temperature are necessary. It seems that post-curing procedure is very important factor to increase the effect of accelerated curing.
In this research, flow experiments and simulation of highly flowable concrete has been attempted using a viscoplastic particle method varying with dosages of SP admixture and water-cement (W/C) ratios. Rheological and flow characteristics of flowable concrete manufactured in domestic products of cement, aggregates, and SP admixtures were investigated by experimental programs varying with mix proportions. From experiment, the predictive model of rheological characteristics of flowable concrete has been newly proposed considering with the effects of the W/C ratio and the dosage of SP admixture, and the effect of mixing proportion has also been incorporated into shear stress and strain rate curve of flowable concrete in the current method. A series of L-box flow test of highly flowable concrete varying with dosages of SP admixture and W/C ratios was compared with the proposed model.

The industrial by-products market has increased at a geometric rate worldwide with the rapid economic growth. Among the wide variety of industrial by-products, fly ash which is generated by the combustion of coal is one of the more troublesome industrial wastes because they entail substantial disposal cost and also cause a shortage of disposal sites. In Korea alone, fly ash generation is expected to increase to 5.8 million tons by 2009, and to 6 million tons by 2010. Given the accelerated industrial development in developing countries, the amount of fly ash generation is predicted to reach enormous levels throughout the world. An increasing number of studies have currently focused on the feasibility of recycling industrial wastes i.e., fly ash in terms of environmental advantages. In this study, the optimized mix proportion of high performance shotcrete using fly ash was determined for the purpose of promoting recycling and reuse of resources.
In the many kind of construct-material, the concrete which has the high-strength and a durability is sufficient to use with structure-material. but the color of concrete is very monotony, so generally concrete isn't used the out surface. although color concrete is a method of expressing surface, the combination of pigment and cement cause many physical problem such as efflorescence phenomenon, strength degradation and so on. In this study, It attempt to develop the black mortar using the industrial granulated blast furnace slag and to evaluate basic physical properties compare with general color concrete to solve the color concrete problem. The result of experiment showed that the flow dropped mixing of pigment. but flow increased in proportion to the mixing rate in occasion of mortar that mix granulated blast furnace sla and black mortar which was made granulated blast furnace slag has more visible black color than any mortar.
