A full-factorial design of experiments with three input factors and two levels for each factor including center points was utilized for the preparation and characterization of twelve types of $BaTiO_3$ slips for tape casting. Ceramic powders with different particle sizes, different milling methods such as high energy milling and conventional ball milling, and two types of dispersant with different polymeric species were chosen as input factors in order to investigate their effects on slip and on green tape properties. Tape casting, a small rectangular-shaped K-square preparation, characterization and quantitative data analysis using statistical software were followed. Ceramic powder was the most significant among three input factors for the output responses of slip viscosity and green tape density, showing more favorable results with large particles than with very fine ones. In addition, high energy milling for only 30 min was more efficient than 24h of conventional ball milling in terms of powder dispersion and milling. The optimum condition based on the experimental results was a slip exposed to high energy milling with large ceramic particles along with a methylethyl acetate dispersant.
With a view to improving the method of rice marketing quality estimation, vaietal milling characteristics and apparent qualities were studied and their statistical interrelationships were computed for 2 years crops, using 22 varieties of Japonica type and Japonica x Indica type (Tongil). The milling yield was the highest for Japonica, while the broken rice yields was the highest for Japa.xInd. type. But bran yield did not show any significant differences among rice types. Milling factors were volume weight of brown rice, dehulling yield, and Polishing yields; the better these factors, the higher the yield. High apparent quality milled rice with high milling yield were produced from rice types whose broken rice, chalked rice, husk yield and bran yield were little and/or low.

This paper introduces a system to machine micro-sized patterns effectively on surface based on micro-milling process using tools with simultaneous rotation and oscillation, oscillation micro milling. To review the effectiveness of proposed concept, we integrated a micro-spindle supported by active magnetic bearings with a precision 3-axis air bearing stage using double-wedge mechanism, and tested this oscillation milling. Two types of oscillation milling were tested, which are linear oscillation milling with a flat end mill and elliptical oscillation milling with a ball end mill with 0.3 mm of diameter. The spindle was rotating 110 krpm and workpiece was moving constant speed of 2~8 mm/sec during the oscillation milling. As the results, multiple oval shape dimples were generated in regular spacing, and the variation of elliptical motion made different shapes of patterns. The results showed that proposed oscillation milling can be successfully used for machining repeated micro-patterns.
In order to provide a basic information for the government policy in the future, rice milling costs of Small Capacity Farm-house Rice Whiteners (SCFRW) were estimated by surveying and analyzing the major factors to affect their costs. Two types of SCFRW having one stage and two stage milling process and two rice varieties, Tong-il and Akibare, were considered for their cost estimation, respectively. Also, their costs were compared with those of Private Custom-work Mill in order to determine its economical feasibility. The results were concluded as follows; 1. Major factors to affect the costs were annual milling quantity, purchase price of SCFRW and grain milling loss. 2. Total milling costs of SCFRW were a function of annual milling quantity. These costs decreased rapidly as annual milling quantity increased. 3. In comparison of milling costs between single pass type and double pass type SCFRW, the former was more economical than the latter. 4. Also, in comparison of milling costs between two varieties by using SCFRW, Akibare was less expensive than Tong-il. 5. In comparison with private Custom-work Mill, both single pass and double pass type SCFRW were less economical than private Custom-work Mill. 6. In order to have an economical feasibility, SCFRW should be designed and developed to reduce its milling loss and purchase price.
PURPOSE. This study is to evaluate the internal fit of the crown manufactured by CAD/CAM milling method and 3D printing method. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The master model was fabricated with stainless steel by using CNC machine and the work model was created from the vinyl-polysiloxane impression. After scanning the working model, the design software is used to design the crown. The saved STL file is used on the CAD/CAM milling method and two types of 3D printing method to produce 10 interim crowns per group. Internal discrepancy measurement uses the silicon replica method and the measured data are analyzed with One-way ANOVA to verify the statistic significance. RESULTS. The discrepancy means (standard deviation) of the 3 groups are $171.6\;(97.4){\mu}m$ for the crown manufactured by the milling system and 149.1 (65.9) and $91.1\;(36.4){\mu}m$, respectively, for the crowns manufactured with the two types of 3D printing system. There was a statistically significant difference and the 3D printing system group showed more outstanding value than the milling system group. CONCLUSION. The marginal and internal fit of the interim restoration has more outstanding 3D printing method than the CAD/CAM milling method. Therefore, the 3D printing method is considered as applicable for not only the interim restoration production, but also in the dental prosthesis production with a higher level of completion.
In this study, the dyeability of 0.06-denier-per-filament (dpf) ultrafine sea-island-type nylon knitted fabric was investigated and compared with that of 1.0-dpf general nylon with respect to four types of dyes. In particular, leveling, milling, half-milling, and metal-complex dyes were compared at concentrations of 0.5%, 1.0%, 2.0%, 4.0%, and 8.0% on-weight-fabric (o.w.f). In each case, staining was performed at 100 ℃. The dyeabilities of the materials were compared in terms of the depth of color as defined by the ratio of the absorption coefficient (K) to the scattering coefficient (S). Results indicated generally low K/S values for both the 0.06-dpf ultrafine sea-island-type nylon and 1.0-dpf general nylon. In terms of the dye type, the milling and half-milling dyes exhibited K/S values of ≥20 for all colors of yellow, red, and blue for the 0.06-dpf ultrafine yarn sea-island-type nylon, which were superior to those of the other dye types. Hence, the milling and half-milling dyes are considered more suitable than the other dyes. Further, a comparison of dye fastness and compatibility revealed that the half-milling dye was the most suitable dye for the 0.06-dpf ultrafine sea-island-type nylon.

A number of experimental studies on burr formation in face milling operations have been pursued. They usually focus on machining parameters such as depth of cut, leed rate, spindle speed and in-plane exit angle. But it if difficult to set the correlation between burrs and the parameters on burr when such parameters are considered at the same time. Therefore, in this paper, acoustic emission (AE) is considered as an alternate way to predict burr types regardless of machining conditions. AE signals during face milling were sampled and processed, then fed into an artificial neural network to classify burr types \\\"on-line\\\".\\\".uot;.
Recently, the fabrication process of the W-Cu nanocomposite powders has been studied to improve the sinterability through the mechanical alloying and reduction of W and Cu oxide mixtures. In this study. the W-Cu composites were produced by mechanochemical process (MCP) using $WO_3-CuO$ mixtures with two different milling types of low and high energy, respectively. These ball-milled mixtures were reduced in $H_2$ atmosphere. The ball-milled and reduced powders were analyzed through XRD, SEM and TEM. The fine W-Cu powder could be obtained by the high energy ball-milling (HM) compared with the large Cu-cored structure powder by the low energy ball-milling (LM). After the HM for 20h, the W grain size of the reduced W-Cu powder was about 20-30 nm.

In highly automated milling process, in-process monitoring of the malfunction is indispensable to ensure efficient cutting operation. Among many malfunctions in milling process, chatter vibration deteriorates surface finish, tool life and productivity. In this study, the monitoring system of chatter vibration for face milling process is proposed and experimentally estimated. The monitoring system employs two types of sensor such as cutting force and acceleration in sensory detection state. The RMS value and band frequency energy of the sensor signals are extracted in time domain for the input patterns of neural network to reduce time delay in signal processing state. The resultes of experimental evaluation show that the system works well over a wide range of cutting conditions.

This study deals with the machining of sculptured surfaces on 5-axis CNC milling machine with end mill cutter. The study (I) has the following contents. In 5-axis CNC milling, CL-data consist of CC-data and cutter axis direction vector at the CC-point. Thus, in machining of the sculptured surface on 5-axis CNC milling machine, determination of the direction vector of the milling cutter is very important. The direction vector is obtained by the fact that bottom plane of the milling cutter must not interfere with the free-form surface being machined. The interference is checked by the z-map method which can be applied in all geometric types of the sculptured surfaces. After generating NC part programs from 5-axis post-processing algorithms, sculptured surfaces were machined with 5-axis CNC milling machine (CINCINNATI MILACRON, 20V-80). From these machining tests, it was shown that the machining of the free-form surfaces on 5-axis CNC milling machine with the end mill has smaller cusp heights and shorter cutting time than on 3-axis CNC milling machine with the ball-end mill. Thus, 5-axis CNC end milling was effective machining method for sculptured surfaces. The study (II) deals with the prediction of cusp height and the determination of tool path interval for the 5-axis machining of sculptured surfaces on the basis of study(I).
