  • Recently, more interests in surface treatment of structure with water repellent agent are steadily increased, But, investigation of its properties such as protection, durability, morphology of micro structure is not sufficient. Therefore, This paper is aimed for the investigation of water repellent property and change of morphology of micro pores in mortar that is treated by water repellent agent(Inorganic polymer based material). Water repellent property, water absorption coefficient, air permeability, porosity and the observation of micro structure was investigated in different water repellent agent type. The test results indicated that water repellent treated mortar showed low absorption coefficient and air permeability(breathing effect). This is why inorganic polymer is coated at the wall of capillary and micro pores, also, the volume of micro pore is reduced without the change of morphology in micro structure.

  • Reaction of [(bpy)Pd]$(PF_6)_2$ (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) with racemic bis(isonicotinoyl)-1,1'-bi-2-naphtholate (L) in acetone, and followed by addition of chloroform and solvent evaporation allows to form amorphous micro-bowl morphology consisting of $[(bpy)PdL]_2(PF_6)_4$ without any template or additive. In contrast, the reaction and recrystallization in acetone for 1 week produce parallel-piped single crystals consisting of $[(bpy)_3Pd_3({\mu}_3-HPO_4)_2](PF_6)_2$. The formations of micro-bowl and parallel-piped single crystal morphologies appear to be primarily associated with the kinetic and thermodynamic control, respectively. The formation of micro-bowls may be attributed to eruption of organic solvents. Cosolvent effects and chemical properties on the formation of micro-bowl morphology have been observed.

  • ZnO micro/nanocrystals at large scale were synthesized through the thermal evaporation of Al-Zn mixtures under air atmosphere. The effect of synthetic temperature and time on the morphology of the micro/nanocrystals was examined. It was found that the temperature and time affected the morphology of the ZnO crystals. At temperatures below $900^{\circ}C$, no crystals were synthesized. At a temperature of $1000^{\circ}C$, ZnO crystals with a rod shape were synthesized. With an increase in temperature from $1000^{\circ}C$ to $1100^{\circ}C$, the morphology of the crystals changed from rod shape to wire and granular shapes. As the time increased from 2 h to 3 h at $1000^{\circ}C$, tetrapod-shaped ZnO crystals started to form. XRD patterns showed that the ZnO crystals had a hexagonal wurtzite structure. EDX analysis revealed that the ZnO crystals had high purity. It is believed that the ZnO nanowires were grown via a vapor-solid mechanism because no catalyst particles were observed at the tips of the micro/nanocrystals in the SEM images.

  • As a part of utilizing the nanocellulose (NC) from lignocellulosic components of wood biomass, this paper reports preliminary results on the products of sulfuric acid hydrolysis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the morphology of both NC and micro-sized cellulose fiber (MCF) isolated by acid hydrolysis from commercial microcrystalline cellulose (MCC). Field emission.scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were employed to observe the acid hydrolysis suspension, NC, and MCF. The electron microscopy observations showed that the acid hydrolysis suspension, before separation into NC and MCF by centrifugation, was composed of nano-sized NCs and micro-sized MCFs. The morphology of isolated NCs was a whisker form of rod-like NCs. Measurements of individual NCs using TEM indicated dimensions of 6.96$\pm$0.87 nm wide by 178$\pm$55 nm long. Observations of the MCFs showed that most of the MCC particles had de-fibered into relatively long fibers with a diameter of 3-9 ${\mu}m$, depending on the degree of acid hydrolysis. These results suggest that proper technologies are required to effectively realize the potentials of both NCs and MCFs.

  • Generally in the case of parts used for precision products, tolerance of parts is very small. So inaccuate size of molding parts generates serious problems. Therefore, it's necessary to secure data about shrinkage on each condition or study about manufacturing process which reduces shrinkage. To apply MCPs to manufature of plastic product, this paper verifies how the amount of gas and Talc can affect to cell-morphology, and examines the relation between shrinkage and cell-morphology by using ASTM specimen formed by MCPs process.

  • In this study, we investigated surface characteristics of hydroxyapatite coated surface on nano/micro pore structured Ti-35Ta-xNb alloys. This paper was focus on morphology and corrosion resistance of Anodic oxidation. To prepare the samples, Ti-35Ta-xNb (x= 0, 10 wt. %) alloys were manufactured by arc melting and heat-treated for 12 h at $1050^{\circ}C$ in Ar atmosphere at $0^{\circ}C$ water quenching. Micro-pore structured surface was performed using anodization with a DC power supply at 280 V for 3 min, nanotube formed on Ti-35Ta-xNb alloys was performed using DC power supply at 30 V in 60 min at room temperature. Surface morphology and structure were examined by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.

  • The effect of oxygen pressure in the synthesis of $SnO_2$ micro/nanocrystals through thermal evaporation of Sn powder was investigated. The thermal evaporation process was performed at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr under various oxygen pressures. The pressure of oxygen changed from 10 to 500 Torr. The morphology of $SnO_2$ crystals changed drastically with oxygen pressure. $SnO_2$ nanoparticles with an average diameter of 120 nm were formed at oxygen pressure lower than 10 Torr. $SnO_2$ nanowires were grown under an oxygen pressure of 100 Torr. The nanowires have diameters in the range of 100 ~ 500 nm and lengths of several tens of micrometers. As increasing the oxygen pressure to 500 Torr, the sizes of wires increased. A strong visible emission peak centered at about 500 ~ 600 nm was observed in the room temperature cathodoluminescence spectra of all the products.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the changes in micro- and nanoscopic morphology of cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) from various bioresources by investigating various mechanical milling systems. Mechanical milling in herbaceous bioresources was more effective than in woody bioresources, demonstrating lower energy consumption and finer morphology. The milling time to reach nanoscopic size was longer in woody bioresources than in herbaceous bioresources. Furthermore, at the same level of wet disk milling time, CNFs from herbaceous bioresources showed more slender morphology than those from woody bioresources. Tensile properties of nanopaper prepared from CNFs of herbaceous bioresources were higher than those of woody bioresources. The highest tensile strength was found to be 77.4 MPa in the nanopaper from Evening prim rose.

  • In order to understand the removal mechanism and seek the optimal conditions. KrF excimer laser ablation of Cr films on glass substrates is investigated. The surface morphology of the laser-irradiated spot is examined by SEM. The measured single-shot ablation rate is found to be about two times the result of numerical analysis based on a surface vaporization model and heat conduction theory. Surface morphology examination indicates that the Cr film is removed by the sequence of melting-surface vaporization-,melt expulsion by plasma recoil and that the outmost ripple of the diffraction pattern gives a strong effect on the morphology of molten Cr during the melting and vaporization processes. To seek the optimal process parameters for micro patterning morphological investigation is carried out experimentally on samples having different chromium film thicknesses. Optimal processing conditions are determined to enhance the accuracy and quality of thin film removal for micro patterning.
