Twelve mecoprop-degrading bacteria were isolated from soil samples, and their genetic and phenotypic characteristics were investigated. Analysis of 16S rDNA sequences indicated that the isolates were related to members of the genus Sphingomonas. Ten different chromosomal DNA patterns were obtained by polymerase-chain-reaction (PCR) amplification of repetitive extragenic palindromic (REP) sequences from the 12 isolates. The isolates were found to be able to utilize the chiral herbicide meco-prop as a sole source of carbon and energy. While seven of the isolates were able to degrade both (R)-and (S)-mecoprop, four isolates exhibited enantioselective degradation of the (S)-type and one isolate could degrade only the (R)-enantiomer. All of the isolates were observed to possess plasmid DNAs. When certain plasmids were removed from isolates MPll, MP15, and MP23, those strains could no longer degrade mecoprop. This compelling result suggests that plasmid DNAs, in this case, conferred the ability to degrade the herbicide. The isolates MP13, MP15, and MP24 were identified as the same strain; however, they exhibited different plasmid profiles. This indicates that these isolates acquired dif-ferent mecoprop-degradative plasmids in different soils through natural gene transfer.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the dietary habits and oral health of elderly people in an attempt to pave the way for the development of oral health promotion programs geared toward improving the quality of life of the elderly. The subjects in this study were senior citizens who were selected by convenience sampling from Seoul. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. Regarding subjective oral health state, 54.5% of the elderly people, more than the half, considered their mouth to be in good health. The number of their mean remaining permanent teeth was 13.71. 47.5 percent of the senior citizens investigated had no shaking teeth. 2. Those who found themselves to be in good oral health had meals on a regular basis(p=0.022) and ate detergent food often. The gaps between them and the others was significant(p=0.005). In contrast, the elderly people who were in a bad oral health frequently ate cariogenic food(p=0.044). 3. The elderly people who had 21 teeth or more ate detergent food often(p=0.029), and those who owned no teeth had a sweet teeth(p=0.003), ate more cariogenic food(p=0.001) and had a snack frequently(p=0.026). 4. The subjective oral health status had a positive correlation to detergent food intake(r=0.23) and had a slightly negative correlation to preference for sweets(r=-0.14), cariogenic food intake(r=-0.14) and snack intake(r=-0.06). The number of tooth was positively correlated to detergent food intake(r=0.23) and negatively to preference for sweets(r=0.32), cariogenic food intake(r=-0.30) and snack intake(r=-0.21). The presence or absence of shaking teeth had a positive correlation to snack intake(r=0.14). The above-mentioned findings suggested that the dietary habits of the elderly people had a statistically significant relationship to subjective and objective oral health state, which indicated that there was a close relationship between oral health and dietary habits. Therefore how to improve dietary habits as well as oral health should be taken into account when oral health promotion programs are developed for the sake of the elderly. That would contribute to promoting the oral health of elderly people and eventually boosting their quality of life.
This paper presents and implements a simple programmable PCM encoder structure uisng the commutation method. In the telemetry system, information is required to assign each data to the channel in order to generate a frame format the data acpuired from the sensor. In this case, when the number of state information is large or the data type is various, there is a necessity to input a large amount of information to each channel. However, the more the number of channels and data, the more probability the error will occur. Therefore, in this paper, the channel information is created using the program. And PCM encoder was implemented to store channel information in ROM. The proposed PCM encoder architecture reduces the likelihood of errors. And it can improve the development speed. The validity of proposed structure is proved by simulation.

Correlations of knowledge, attitude, and prevention practices against COVID-19 were analyzed using Pearson Correlation coefficients, and factors affecting COVID-19 prevention practices were analyzed using stepwise multiple regression. The number of subjects analyzed in the study was 232. The general characteristics of the study subjects were 78 males (33.7 %) and 154 females (66.3 %). The subject's knowledge score about COVID-19 was 85.13±6.22 out of 100 points, and the attitude score toward COVID-19 was 12.47±1.31 out of 14 points. The prevention practice score for COVID-19 was 29.36±3.42 out of 32 points. As a result of the study, knowledge about COVID-19 was found to have a significant positive correlation with attitude (r=.34, p<.001); COVID-19 prevention practice behavior was found to have a significant positive correlation with knowledge (r=.54, p<.001), and attitude (r=.62, p<.001). The main factors influencing the COVID-19 prevention practice behavior were knowledge, attitude, and major (Cosmetology major).
Purpose: The aim of the study was to compare the characteristics of the autonomic innervation of the heart in polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) patients with regulary cycling controls. Methods: We studied 21 patients visiting $\bigcirc\bigcirc$hospital from 25th June 2009 to 25th June 2010. The subjects were categorized in two groups, 11 PCOS patients and 10 healthy regularly cycling controls. We studied the difference of Heart rate variability (HRV) between two groups by Independent samples T-test using SPSS for windows(version 17.0). Results: The Standard deviation of all normal R-R intervals (SDNN), The spuare root of the sum of the spuare of difference between adjacent normal R-R intervals (RMS-SD) of PCOS group was non-significantly lower than non-PCOS group. High frequency power (HF) and Normalized high frequency power (HF norm) of PCOS group was significantly higher than non-PCOS group. Normalized low frequency power (LF norm) of PCOS was signficantly lower than non-PCOS group. The results means increased sympathetic and decreased vagal modulation. Total power (TP), Very low frequency power (VLF) of PCOS group was non-significantly lower than non-PCOS group. Low frequency power (LF), LF/HF ratio of PCOS group was non-significantly higher than non-PCOS group. Conclusion: The results suggest that PCOS can be related to decreased activity of parasympathetic nervous system.

Epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) is the first step in metastasis and implicated in the phenotype of cancer stem cells. Therefore, understanding and controlling EMT, are essential to the prevention and cure of metastasis. In the present study, we examined, by Western blot, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), and confocal microscopy, the effects of cardamonin (CDN) on transforming growth factor-${\beta}1$ (TGF-${\beta}1$)-induced EMT of A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. TGF-${\beta}1$ induced expression of N-cadherin and decreased expression of E-cadherin. CDN suppressed N-cadherin expression and restored E-cadherin expression. Further, TGF-${\beta}1$ induced migration and invasion of A549 cancer cells, which was suppressed by CDN. TGF-${\beta}1$ induced c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) activation during EMT, but CDN blocked it. Protein serine/threonine phosphatase 2A (PP2A) expression in A549 cancer cells was reduced by TGF-${\beta}1$ but CDN restored it. The overall data suggested that CDN suppresses TGF-${\beta}1$-induced EMT via PP2A restoration, making it a potential new drug candidate that controls metastasis.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the influencing factors on eating disorders in college students. Method: A descriptive correlational study design was used. Eight hundred fifty-nine college students were administered self-report questionnaires to examine eating habits, self-efficacy, depression, and parent-adolescent communication from May to June, 2010. Collected data were analyzed by the SPSS 15.0 program for t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Result: The level of an eating disorder in participants was moderate and it differed by gender, major, and type of living. The eating disorder showed a significant correlation with self-efficacy (r=-.28, p=<.000), depression (r=.23, p=.001), and parents-adolescent communication (r=-.13, p=.008). Self-efficacy (8.2%) and depression (2.1%) were significant predictors to explain the eating disorder. Conclusion: This study provides comprehensive understanding of the influencing factors on eating disorders in college students. It suggests that nursing interventions to improve self-efficacy and decrease depression for management of eating disorder are needed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study isto identify the mediating effects of interpersonal problems in the relationship between Social Network Service (SNS) use tendency and depression among university students. Methods: Data were collected from April 28 to May 7, 2018 and the participants included 222 university students, who responded to the question regarding SNS use tendency, interpersonal problems and depression.
