  • The production part requiring multiple processes such as piecing, blanking and notching are performed with a high production rates in progressive die. In order to prevent the defects of process result, the optimum of strip process layout design, die design, die making, and tryout with inspection etc. are needed. According to these factors of die development process, they required theory and practice of metal working process and its background, die structure, machining conditions for die making, die materials, heat treatment of die components, know-how and so on. In this study, we designed and analyzed die components also simulated the strip process layout of multiple stage drawing by DEFORM. Especially the result of tryout and its analysis become to the feature of this study.

  • The Cut off-type progressive die for U-bending production part is a very specific division. This study reveals the sheet metal forming process with multi-forming die by Center Carrier type feeding system. Through the FEM simulation by DEFORM, it was accepted to u-bending process as the first performance to design of strip process layout. The next process of die development was studied according to sequence of die development, i.e. die structure, machining condition for die making, die materials, heat treatment of die components, know-how and so on. The feature of this study is the die development of scrapless progressive die of multi-stage through the Modeling on the I-DEAS program, components drawing on the Auto-Lisp, CAD/CAM application, ordinary machine tool operating and revision by tryout.

전방압출 공정에서 제품 변형 이력 (Deformation History of Product during Forward Extrusion Process)

  • The study has been performed for the relation between die and product during forward extrusion by the experiment. Stains of the die have been given by the simple experiment using the strain gauge located at the outer surface of the die. The history of the deformation of the die and the product has been given by the experiment and Lame's formula. The inner pressure of the die causes the deformation of die that affects the accuracy of dimension as well as shape of the product. The product with accurate dimension and shape can be obtained by analysing elastic deformation of the die during the process. The deformation of the die during metal forming process has been usually predicted by the experience of industrial engineer or finite element analysis. But it is difficult to predict the dimension of the product at unloading and ejected states. In the present study, useful results for the deformation history of the die and the product were obtained through the experiment and Lame's formula in forward extrusion which can be applied to the die design for the product with accurate dimension.

냉간단조금형에서 다이블록의 수명연장에 관한 연구 (A Research on the Life Span extension of Die Block in Cold Forging Die)

  • 냉간단조금형(Cold Forging Die)의 다이블록(Dieblock)을 제작하는 방법 중의 하나로, 다이블록 제작용 재료를 면가공 하여 다이블록 상면(上面)을 마스터펀치(Master Punch)인 호브(Hob)로 압입(Indentation) 시켜 절삭가공((Cutting Work)이 아닌 다이호빙(Die Hobbing) 방법으로 임프레션(Impression)을 성형하여 제작하고 있다. 이 방법에 의하여 다이블록의 재료를 합금공구강(Alloy Tool Steel)인 SKD11을 사용하여 제작하고, 스테인리스판(Stainless Sheet Metal)을 제품 재료로 하여 냉간단조가공(Cold Forging Work)을 수행하였더니 6,000 스트로크(Stroke)에서 금형수명(Die Life)을 다 하고 파손되었다. 본 논문에서는 다이블록 재료를 고속도공구강(High Speed Tool Steel)인 SKH51로 교체 제작하고, 탄소강(Carbon Steel)인 S45C를 제품 재료로 하여 냉간단조가공을 수행하였더니 21,000 스트로크에서 금형수명을 다하고 파손되어 종래의 방법과 비교 검토하였을 때 350%의 금형수명 연장 효과를 얻게 되었다.

  • The forming process of metal matrix composites by the die casting and squeeze casting process are limited in size and dimension in term of final parts without machining. The thixoforming process for metal matrix composites has numerous advantages compared to die casting, squeeze casting and compocasting. The characteristics of thixoforming process can decrease the liquid segregation because of he improvement in fluidity in a globular microstructure state and utilizes flow without air entrapment. Therefore, in order to obtain the sound parts of metal matrix composites by using thixoforming process which as co-existing solidus-liquidus pahse, it si very important to obtain reheating condition. However, for he thixoforming process, the billet with the desired volume fraction must be heated to obtain a uniform temperature distribution over the entire cross-sectional areas. To obtain the reheating conditions of composites, the particulate reinforced metal matrix composites for thixoforming were fabricated by combined stirring process which is simultaneously performed with electro-magnetic stirring process which is simultaneously performed with electro-magnetic stirring and mechanical stirring process.

  • In bulk metal forming processes prediction of tool life is very important for saving production cost and achieving good material properties. Generally the service life of tools in metal forming process is limited to a large extent by wear, fracture and plastic deformation of tools. In case of hot and warm forging processes tool life depends on wear over 70%. In this study finite element analyses are con-ducted to warm and hot forging by adopting suggested wear model. By comparison of simulation and eal profile of die suggested wear model. By comparison of simulation and real profile of die suggested model is verified.

  • Orchard sprayers, wide area dusters and multipurpose control cars are flagship products of Hansung T&I Ltd. Spray pumps are one of the essential parts for these products. But conventional belt pulleys for spray pumps are heavy and expensive, and they bring down the quality as well as productivity of the end-products. Therefore, this study focuses on mold design for aluminum die casting belt pulley and mold manufacture.

  • The focus of this study is on the enhancement of flatness for the shielded slot plate, one of main components of the MCFC stack. The shielded slot plate is to get curvature during manufacturing process since it is produced by forming operation from only one side of it. Therefore, a correction die is proposed to place just after the main die to apply unbending on the curved plate to get almost flat product. In the design for the correction die, four kinds of design factors are selected to study which factor is the most influencing one affecting the flatness of the plate. From the experimental results using Taguchi method, it has been revealed that the Young's modulus of urethane die is the most critical factor.

  • we can save a development cost and time as computer was used in tool and die design of car fields in die manufacture process. Dimension accuracy errors such as springback, springgo, overcrown and twist were reduced product accuracy and caused trouble to assembly each parts of car. In this paper, CADCEUS was used to modify and optimize results of deflection for a tail gate panel of car parts in order to reduce dimension accuracy errors by springback in sheet metal forming. As CADCEUS was used to apply for a tail gate panel, the time for quality to improve was reduced to 30%.
