확장 가능한 32X32 MBAM Neuro-chip의 설계 (Design of Expandable 32x32 MBAM Neuro-chip)

  • In this paper, we present a VLSI chip design of Multi-layer Bidirectionsl Associative Memory with good error-correction performance. The MBAM neural chip utilizes inner product implementation schems with binary storage and analog calculation.. Multi-layer can be constructed by direct cascading of these chips, and the number of neurons is expandable by parallel connection of these chips. We made proto-type chips and interface board to test the expansion. Currently the Chip has 32 input nodes, 32 output nodes, and can store up to 48 patterns, 32x48x2 SRAMs are included in the chip.

실시간 음성인식 다이얼링 시스템 개발 (Development of a Real-time Voice Recognition Dialing System;)

  • This paper describes development of a real-time voice recognition dialing system which can recognize around one hundred word vocabularies in speaker independent mode. The voice recognition algorithm is implemented on a DSP board with a telephone interface plugged in an IBM PC AT/486. In the DSP board, procedures for feature extraction, vector quantization(VQ), and end-point detection are performed simultaneously in every 10msec frame interval to satisfy real-time constraints after the word starting point detection. In addition, we optimize the VQ codebook size and the end-point detection procedure to reduce recognition time and memory requirement. The demonstration system is being displayed in MOBILAB of Korea Mobile Telecom at the Taejon EXPO '93.

  • This paper proposes an expert system to generate automatically the test table of test system which can highly enhance the quality and productivity of product by inspecting quickly and accurately the defect device on the electronic circuit board tested. The expert system identifies accurately the tested components and the circuit patterns by tracing automatically the connectivity of circuit from electronic circuit database. And it generates automatically the test table to detect accurately the missing components, the misplaced components, and the wrong components for analog components such as resistance, coil, condenser, diode, and transistor, based on the experience knowledge of veteran expert. It is implemented in C computer language for the purpose of the implementation of the inference engine using the dynamic memory allocation technique, the interface with the electronic circuit database and the hardware direct control. And, the validity of the builded expert system is proved by simulating for a typical electronic board model.

  • A new type of capacitor named "Super Capacitor" has been developed, in which the properties of electric double layer formed at the interface of activated carbon electrode- liquid organic electrolyte is applied. This capacitor is small In size, light in weight, wide In temperature range(-25~$70^{\circ}C$), large in charge-discharge capability and good in voltage preservation. And this super capacitor is applied as a power back-up for electricity failure in volatile memory devices etc., a power source for a short time and a power source for operating actuators. At present the development of high power back-up types of the capacitor system and improvement of their characteristics are being actively conducted in order to find wider applications.lications.

  • This paper introduce a millimeter-wave radar system. As Fig 1 shows, This system consists of millimeter-wave radar front-end and digital signal processing parts through receive waves regarding up-coming obstacles. The system works as follow process; (1) Generate regular tripodal waves using the FMCW pulse generator (2) Transmit/Receive waves regarding up-coming obstacles (3) Analog filtering (4) FIFO memory interface (5) FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) (6) Calculation of distance / speed between cars (7) Object display and calibration. We have progress to solve the problem like as increase of traffic accidents causing damage and injuries due to the increased number of motor vehicles and long distance driving, and Need for a device to help drivers who are in trouble due to bad weather conditions. We are expect to Take the lead as a core technology in the ITS industry and to develop circuit and signal processing technologies related to millimeter-wave bandwidth.

  • For the fabrication of the microscale memory or electrical devices, Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) method is the most possible candidate. N-Alkylquinolium-TCNQ compounds were synthesized. The structure of the compounds were identified by the NMR spectroscopy and the purity were checked to be good by the elemental analysis. The surface pressure($\pi$) was measured at the air-water interface. The isotherm showed two transitions at 30mN/m and 45mN/m. The LB films were deposited by the home-made Kuhn type apparatus. The transfer ratio($\tau$) of the deposition was more than 0.95 for the up-stroke and less than 0.4 for the down-stroke. The absorbance peaks of the LB films appear at around 420nm and 700-820nm.

  • Situation awareness is defined as a person's perception of the elements of the environment within a volume of time and space, the comprehension of their meaning and the projection of their status in the near future. Situation awareness is important in attempting to evaluate human behavior in operating complex systems such as aircraft, air traffic control, and nuclear power plant systems. From the literatures this study reviews the relationship between situation awareness and numerous individual, system and environmental factors, and also reviews the methodologies for the empirical measurement of situation awareness applicable to Korea Next Generation Reactor (KNGR) design project. Attention, working memory, workload, stress, system complexity, and automation are presented as critical factors limiting operator's situation awareness. Mental models and goal-directed behavior are hypothesized as important mechanisms overcoming these limits. This study summarized hypothesized guidelines for interface design to improve situation awareness of reactor operators. Some of the guidelines should be tested in the KNGR evaluation experiments in the future.

Processing-Node Status-based Message Scattering and Gathering for Multi-processor Systems on Chip

  • This paper presents processing-node status-based message scattering and gathering algorithms for multi-processor systems on chip to reduce the communication time between processors. In the message-scattering part of the message-passing interface (MPI) scatter function, data transmissions are ordered according to the proposed linear algorithm, based on the processor status. The MPI hardware unit in the root processing node checks whether each processing node's status is 'free' or 'busy' when an MPI scatter message is received. Then, it first transfers the data to a 'free' processing node, thereby reducing the scattering completion time. In the message-gathering part of the MPI gather function, the data transmissions are ordered according to the proposed linear algorithm, and the gathering is performed. The root node receives data from the processing node that wants to transfer first, and reduces the completion time during the gathering. The experimental results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm increases at a greater rate as the number of processing nodes increases.

로보트의 힘제어를 이용한 윤곽 추적, 삽입 및 그라인딩 작업의 구현에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Implementation of Edge-Following Insertion and grinding Tasks Using Robot Force Control)

  • In the case that the robot manipulator should respond to the variance and uncertainty of the environment in performing preforming precision tasks, it is indispensable that the robot utilizes the various sensors for intrlligence. In this paper, the robot force control method is implemented with a force/torque sensor, two personal computers, and a PUMA 560 manipulator for performing the various application tadks. The hybrid position/force control method is used to control the force and position axis separately. An interface board is designed to read the force/torque sensor output into the computer. Since the two computers should exchange the information quickly, a common memory board is designed. Before the algorithms of application tasks are developed, the basic force commands must be supplied. Thus, the MOVE-UNTIL command is used at the discrete time instant and, the MOVE-COMPLY is used at the continuous time instant for receiving the force feedback information. Using the two basic force commands, three application algorithms are developed and implemented for edge-following, insertion, and grinding tasks.
