  • This study is related to excavation from ruins the memorial structure within the Jeongreung royal tomb. There are experimental assertion on the basis of results of the excavation, historical records. The location of the memorial structure is identified in picture of Sunwonbogam(선원보감), records of Chunkwantongho(春官通考). The memorial structure have 6 rooms where lay in 250 steps(步) from the south of Hongjeonmun gate, lotus pond lay in southeast of the structure recorded on Chunkwantongho that's guide book to manners. It's matched in the location as result of excavation. The building site consists of main house(윗채), outhouse(아래채) that's stationed in stepped. It seems that main house as the memorial structure have 6 rooms. It's used as outhouse for facilities attached to the main. It's characterized the memorial structure within the Jeongreung royal tomb that's stationed main house, outhouse in stepped it using natural ground. It's estimated that it's tried to conservation for building site, fence etc. in next several time. With regard to constructing time of the structure, traces involved to first construction is simple: 2 chimneys in flower bed, fence, a part of stone elevation, drains by using rectangular stone. It shows that the building site had been reconstructed or renovated during Gho-jong King 37s year of the Choson dynasty(A.D.1900). It seems that the memorial structure during approximately 300 years in existence from Hyeon-jong King 10s year of the Choson dynasty(A.D.1669) to the late 1960s.

  • Space is a phenomenon which is formed in the connection between environment and human beings and public space is built by a complex phenomenon of space. Each and every individual is connected to an environment and these individuals are connected to one another. A public commemorative space means souvenir and memorial which is designed for special purpose of remembrance of a specific area. One of the purposes of public commemorative space is memorial and that is the reason of doing public relation and educating citizens over the transom. However, the meaning and value of commemorative subject cannot be delivered or stuffed one-sidely. The target who receives messages from public commemorative space has reinterpreted the messages of his own with his personal experience, knowledge and sensitivity. It results in an unexpected phenomenon of public commemorative space. Therefore, public commemorative space should be considered in a mutual communication structure rather than a purpose of memorial itself. Korean public commemorative space is focused on public relation and education for memorial. In other words, Korean public commemorative space is neglected its important possibility of the productive chapter of mutual communication. The mutual communication structure of public commemorative space which is based on variety and haecceity is ripped up by the message over the transom. It destroys the self-control and creativity of public commemorative space, and derives a negative result. By studying the function and meaning of public commemorative space, we should make the best use of it.

  • This study aims to present the criteria of location selection and contents composition of Sewol ferry memorial space from the perspective of placeness and dark tourism, one of the main concepts of cultural tourism theory, and to draw academic concepts and implications related to it. First, the location selection of Sewol ferry memorial space was proposed by applying the concept of placeness to each important location, and the direction of the contents composition was presented based on the contents components such as characters, stories, places and dark tourism composition directions. As a result, when the Sewol ferry memorial space is designed in use of systemizing the narrative structure of the storytelling method and implementing it specifically, it is suggested that it is possible to construct a Sewol ferry memorial space by distributing and course-making based on the narrative structure rather than focusing on the location selection of a specific place. In addition, it was argued that the contents composition criteria should be more complex and systematically established and applied considering the connection between placeness and dark tourism when the Sewol ferry memorial space is constructed in various sites like 416 life safety parks and Mokpo New Port. This study, which aims to answer research questions related to major issues based on the perspective of placeness and dark tourism on the Sewol ferry memorial space, is expected to be used as a reference for the construction of the memorial space in the future.

  • This study intends to analyze the meaning of symbolism in ancestral memorial rite arrangemen from the view that ancestral worship connecting traditional society with modernity are the transmission of ritual. It appears as a change the theory of Yin-Yang and Five Elements that became the basis and ideology about the Confucian view of life and death, an understanding of the universe structure, and a change in the four seasons. Ancestral memorial rite arrangements acknowledge the existence of ancestors. And it is understood as a ceremonial instrument which the living and the dead communicate spatially with time through the symbolic system. In addition, the four seasons, spaces of the skyground and underground were symbolized and embodied through the selection and arrangement of ancestral memorial rites. In the modern ancestral memorial rite arrangement, the factors that determine the location require Time-space analysis of the target. This is because the offering is understood not only as a functional role but also as a temporal and spatial symbolism to be expressed through the offering. In this study, it is meaningful to consider it from the perspective of inheritance of ancestral worship culture through discussions about the ideological background and symbolic system that appeared in ancestral memorial rite arrangement

  • Offshore structures are subjected to wind loads, wind generated wave excitations, and current forces. In this paper we focus on the wind generated wave excitations as the main source for the external forces on the structure. The main objective of the paper is to provide a tool for using deck acceleration measurements to predict the value of the force and moment acting on the offshore structure foundation. A change in these values can be used as an indicator of the health of the foundation. Two methods of analysis are used to determine the relationship between the force and moment acting on the foundation and deck acceleration. The first approach uses neural networks while the other uses a Fokker-Planck formulation. The Fokker-Plank approach was used to relate the variance of the excitation to the variance of the deck acceleration. The total virtual mass of the equivalent SDOF of the structure was also determined at different deck masses.

  • Today, museum exhibition can be divided into two sub-categories: a. informative exhibition with various useful auxiliary media to convey knowledge and b. appreciative exhibition considering aesthetic conveyance and visual/perceptual environment. In addition to this, the concept of memorial exhibition as a field that tangible and intangible memories are transmitted and reproduced is creating another genre of exhibition. As an example of such a memorial exhibition above, the work of de-constructive architect Daniel Libeskind was selected. Jewish Museum and Imperial War Museum North both of which maximized the exhibition space by grafting architectural language to exhibition narrative were analyzed and compared to see if the same architectural language can be displayed differently in another form of exhibition after being drawn into the exhibition space depending on the changes in time and perspective. Therefore, in the narrative display combining the selection of exhibition contents and storytelling, the formative language of space can confirm that exhibition narrative as an ending structure changed into a retelling story with more extended meanings through interactive factors. Eventually, in this formative narrative, when the display of historical facts and exhibition themes is combined with the architectural language in an exhibition hall according to the approach direction, the memorial exhibition can create a formative language stimulating sensibility in the memories of space and a differentiated formative exhibition space where one is truly moved by oneness of contents.

  • Fatigue design rules for welds in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessels Code are based on the use of Fatigue Strength Reduction Factors(FSRF) against a code specified fatigue design curve generated from smooth base metal specimens without the presence of welds. Similarly, stress intensification factors that are used in the ASME B3l.1 Piping Code are based on component S-N curves with a reference fatigue strength based on straight pipe girth welds. But the determination of either the FSRF or stress intensification factor requires extensive fatigue testing to take into account the stress concentration effects associated with various types of component geometry, weld configuration and loading conditions. As the fatigue behavior of welded joints is being better understood, it has been generally accepted that the difference in fatigue lives from one type of weld to another is dominated by the difference in stress concentration. However, general finite element procedures are currently not available for effective determination of such stress concentration effects. In this paper, a mesh-insensitive structural stress method is used to re-evaluate the S-N test data, and then more effective method is proposed for pressure vessel and piping fatigue design.

  • Understanding of 'spatial' pressure distribution is required to determine design loads on local structures, such as plating and framing. However, obtaining a practical 'spatial' pressure distribution is a hard task due to the sensitivity of the data acquisition frequency and resolution. High-resolution Pessure-Idicating Flm (PIF) was applied to obtain pressure distribution and pressure magnitude using stepped crushing method. Different types of PIF were stacked at each test to creating a pressure distribution plot at specific time steps. Two different concepts of plotting 'spatial' pressure-area curve was introduced and evaluated. Diverse unit pixel size was chosen to investigate the effect of the resolution in data analysis. Activated area was not significantly affected by unit pixel size; however, total force was highly sensitive.

  • The aim of the present paper is to study the lifts of a golden structure to tangent bundles of order r. We proved that r-lift of the golden structure F in the tangent bundle of order r is also a golden structure. We have also proved some theorems on the projection tensor in the tangent bundle of order r. Later we have established prolongations of G-structures immersed in the golden structure to the tangent bundle of order r and 2. Finally, we constructed few examples of the golden structure that admit an almost para contact structure on the tangent bundle of order 3 and 4.
