Safety, livability, and efficiency are the three prominent problems of tall buildings, which are also the severe challenges to designers. We proposed the idea of building the sky town to solve these problems, which can be summarized in two sentences, one is tall building multi-storised, and another one is vertical facilities municipal-infrastructurised. The tall building can be horizontally cut into several multi-storey buildings by some large platforms. The platform extends a certain width to block the fire from spreading. Tall buildings are connected together as a group. One of them is a traffic core, which is used for vertical transportation and MEP. It connects to traffic center such as metro, while most of the other tall buildings' cores can be very much released, so as to achieve maximum efficiency of floor usable area and to give good traffic organization. By combining traffic core, platforms, and multi-storey buildings' inner traffic, a transportation network is formed. Finally, we refer to the design of Raffles City Chongqing to make a sketch of sky town.

Recently, the change of shipping and port environment has required the new strategy from the liners, terminal operators, ports. The ports of call in the North American and European line also has changed as the Chinese ports made rapid advance. This seems to result from the fact that the trend of the container transportation by sea has developed the traditional concept, called port-to-port system that directly links between a port and another port into the network with complicated hierarchical structure reflecting costs, efficiency, and strategy of the Mega Carrier. This paper suggests the factors for Busan port to become the hub port of northeast Asia by analyzing the change of the liners' strategy along the change of the shipping and port environment, the global management of the operator of container port, and the amount of containers flowing in the northeast Asia.

In the present paper, the characteristics of Mega-Flux$^{(R)}$, JNEX-Core$^{(R)}$, amorphous and ferrite cores are compared to the inductor of buck-boost converters for Hybrid Electric Vehicles. Core losses are analyzed at the condition of 10 kHz sine wave excitations, and permeability fluctuations vs. temperature and magnetizing force will be analyzed and discussed. Under the specifications of the buck-boost converter for 20 kW THS-II, the power inductor will be designed with Mega-Flux$^{(R)}$ and JNEX-Core$^{(R)}$, and informative simulation results will be provided with respect to dc bias characteristics, core and copper losses.

Nakanoshima Festival Tower is a 200 m high-rise complex building which contains a renewed 2700-seat capacity concert hall known as "Festival Hall" and offices including headquarter of a news company. In order to build up an office tower on the hall which requires large open space, a giant truss system is employed. The giant trusses being composed of mega-trusses and belt-trusses support all the building weight above them and transfer the load to the outside of the hall. The building also requires high seismic resistance performance for a news company. Application of mid-story seismic isolation enables the building to satisfy high-level seismic resistance criteria.

The Yongdong basin developed during Early Cretaceous in the central part of the Korean Peninsula and bounded on the northwest and southeast by northeast trending mega-scale strike-slip Yongdong Fault. An 8 km thick succession of exclusively terrigeneous sediments can be grouped into two mega-sequences. In concert with the migration of depocenter, the upper sequence overlaps the lower and occupies northern part of the basin during basin evolution. Alluvial and lacustrine environments were predominantly formed from early to late stage of the basin formation. Several lines of evidence support that the basin was formed within intra-arc tectonic environments and destroyed by polyphase tectonic force. Schematic evolutionary diagram of the basin is proposed.

In this paper, the lens module of mega pixel type was designed for barrel distortion calibration due to the barrel distortion of ultra wide angle. And the performance of this camera module was improved with the images from wide dynamic range 2 megapixel CMOS image sensor.

This study was conducted to obtain a better understanding of Korean researchers' motivations and experience regarding open access publishing. An online survey was conducted with the Korean authors of PLOS ONE, a major open access mega journal (OAMJ). A total of 238 responses were collected; the analysis was based on 202 valid responses. The results of the survey were compared and constrated with the results of a major international study that investigated similar issues. For Korean authors with open access publishing experience, journal impact factor (JIF) is still the most important factor in making publishing decisions. There was a significant difference between general publishing venue decision making versus open access publishing venue decision. Overall, Korean authors are far less satisfied with open access publishing than the authors in the international study. The results suggest comparatively low level of expectation among Korean researchers toward open access publishing. Open access policy and training initiatives are needed to promote open access.
