Performance Evaluation of Subsurface-flow Wetland with Media Possessing Different Adsorption Capacities for Nitrogen and Phosphorus (질소 및 인에 대한 흡착특성이 다른 여재를 사용한 지하흐름형 인공습지 효율 평가)

  • Constructed wetland has been widely used for the treatment of sewage, stormwater runoff, industrial wastewater, agricultural runoff, acid mine drainage and landfill leachate. For the removal of nitrogen and phosphorus, uptake by plants and adsorption to media material are the major processes, and, therefore, the selection of media with specific adsorption capacity is the critical factor for the optimal design of wetland along with the selection of appropriate plant species. In this study, two media materials (loess bead and mixed media) possessing different adsorption characteristics for ammonium and phosphate were selected, and their adsorption characteristics were evaluated. In addition, the performance of subsurface-flow wetland systems employing these media was evaluated in both batch and continuous flow systems. With LB medium, beter phosphorus removal was observed, while better ammonia removal was obtained with MM medium. In addition, enhanced removal efficiencies were observed in the wetland systems employing both media and aquatic plants, mainly due to the better environment for microbial growth. As a result, appropriate selection or combination of media with respect to the inflow water quality maybe important factors for the successful design and operation of wetland systems.

  • Since social media's introduction, it has reached a point where almost all Internet users, or more than half of the world's population, use social media. As its use became a common activity for many people, social media inevitably induced a range of social phenomena, and numerous researchers have examined them from diverse perspectives. In order to understand the social media phenomenon and related studies better, this study incorporates and analyzes 1,038 articles of social media literature, explores their focuses, and provides an integrative knowledge of the social media phenomenon and research trend. Furthermore, by applying Ihde (1990)'s theories on human-technology relationships to social media literature, this study also investigates how the relationship between people and social media has changed. This study interprets the approaches used in literature in light of human-technology relationships and offers suggestions for future research.

Terabit-per-square-inch Phase-change Recording on Ge-Sb-Te Media with Protective Overcoatings

  • We reported here nano-scale electrical phase-change recording in amorphous $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ media using an atomic force microscope (AFM) having conducting probes. In recording process, a pulse voltage is applied to the conductive probe that touches the media surface to change locally the electrical resistivity of a film. However, in contact operation, tip/media wear and contamination could major obstacles, which degraded SNR, reproducibility, and lifetime. In order to overcome tip/media wear and contamination in contact mode operation, we adopted the W incorporated diamond-like carbon (W-DLC) films as a protective layer. Optimized mutilayer media were prepared by a hybrid deposition system of PECVD and RF magnetron sputtering. When suitable electrical pulses were applied to media through the conducting probe, it was observed that data bits as small as 25 nm in diameter have been written and read with good reproducibility, which corresponds to a data density of $1 Tbit/inch^2$. We concluded that stable electrical phase-change recording was possible mainly due to W-DLC layer, which played a role not only capping layer but also resistive layer.

  • In this paper particle filter is used as an underlying algorithm to track multiple objects, which are soccer players. Multi-object tracking becomes difficult when two or more players get close to and overlap each other because particles of the filters tend to move to a region of higher posterior probability. To resolve this problem, a blob assignation algorithm which identifies the separated image blobs after occlusion, based on the predicted states according to the dynamic model is suggested. This method performed well on the sequences under general camera work.

  • In this paper, we present new methods for rapid high-resolution range sensing using green-blue stripe pattern. We use green and blue for designing high-frequency stripe projection pattern. For accurate and reliable range recovery, we identify the stripe patterns by our color-stripe segmentation and unwrapping method. The experimental result for a naked human face shows the effectiveness of our method.

  • 본 논문에서는 동적 프로젝션 매핑 콘텐츠 저작 도구의 설계를 위해 동적 프로젝션 매핑의 유형과 그에 따른 인터렉션, 이펙트 효과, 그리고 적용되고 있는 객체 추적 방법을 분석하였다. 움직임이나 형태가 고정된 대상체에 영상을 투영하던 정적 프로젝션 매칭의 방법과는 다르게 최근 소개되고 있는 동적 프로젝션 매핑 콘텐츠들은 다양한 객체 추적 방법을 적용하여 프로젝션 매핑의 적용 대상 및 내용이 다양화되고 있다. 그러나 이에 따른 동적 프로젝션 매핑 콘텐츠 저작도구의 개발이 요구되고 있다. 이에 향우 저작도구의 설계를 위한 사전연구로 동적 프로젝션 매핑 콘텐츠의 특성을 분석하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 임의의 2차원 프로젝션 맵핑 공간을 인터랙티브 공간으로 구축할 수 있도록 하는 인터랙티브 프로젝션 맵핑 프레임워크를 제안하고, 제안 프레임워크를 활용한 "애니마블" 게임 구현 사례를 소개한다. 제안 프레임워크는 프로그래밍 스킬이 전혀 없는 창작자들이 물체 감지 기술을 이용하여 인터랙티브 미디어 콘텐츠를 쉽게 제작할 수 있도록 하기 위하여 설계 구현되었다. 콘텐츠 창작자는 인터랙션이 발생될 위치를 카메라 영상상에서 지정하고, 미리 지정된 파일 디렉토리에 정해진 룰에 따라 이름 지어진 미디어 콘텐츠 파일들을 가져다 놓는 것만으로 인터랙티브 프로젝션 맵핑 콘텐츠를 완성할 수 있다. 제안 프레임워크를 이용한 "애니마블" 게임은 아날로그적 보드게임과 미디어 콘텐츠를 결합한 아동용 인터랙티브 미디어 보드게임으로 구현되었다.

Development of an ICT Car Service Applying a Human-Centered Design

  • Currently, various technological models and services are emerging because of the development of information and communication technology and the convergence of industries. The ICT car field is expanding because of technological convergence in the automobile industry. However, ICT convergence services are still being developed based solely on technology; characterization of users and their needs is lacking. Therefore, two types of ICT car services that apply human-centered design processes are developed in this study. These processes create services and models while considering the quality and functions of products based on users (instead of technology) when developing products or services. Usability evaluation was performed on the developed services; a human-centered design process was applied to the results to confirm that the derived services resulted in high satisfaction. In the future, these research results will provide useful applications when developing ICT car services and strategies.

  • 본 논문에서는 국내에서 채택한 ATSC-DTV (Advanced Television System Committee-Digital Television)의 단일주파 수망 (SFN; Single Frequency Network) 구성을 위한 TxID (Transmitter Identification)용 ZCD (Zero Correlation Duration)확산코드 기반의 부분상관 정합필터를 새롭게 제안하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 정합필터의 구현 알고리즘은 TxID에 있어서 기존의 정합필터 구조를 적용할 경우에 발생되는 소비전력 문제나 하드웨어 구현의 어려움을 획기적으로 해결할 수 있다는 잇점을 갖는다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 다양한 잇점을 갖는 새롭게 제안한 ZCD용 부분상관 정합필터를 FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array)를 이용한 디지털 하드웨어로 구현하고 그 성능을 분석함으로써 유용성을 확인하였다.
