The purpose of this study aimed to know the association between seven health practices and self rated health by Sasang constitution. We recruited 367 subjects aged from 30 to 59. KS 15 questionnaire was used to classify Sasang constitution and visual analogue scale was used to estimate self rated health. Chi-square test was used to know the difference of occupation distribution by Sasang constitution. Anova test, T-test and Chi-square test also used to analyze the difference of self rated health between the health practice group and non-health group in individual Sasang constitution. SPSS 21.0K was used and significant p was <.05. Regular morning meal, non-snaking, good sleeping and sufficient exercise had higher self rated health score (p<.05). Regular morning meal, good sleeping and sufficient exercise had higher score in Tae-eumin (p<.05). Good sleeping had higher self rated health score in Soeumin and Soyangin (p<.05). These results suggest there is possibility that health practices for health promotion could be different according to Sasang constitution.
This study examined the MZ Generation Consumers' perception and needs of HMR (Home Meal Replacement) using local food. The paper provides basic data for deriving a plan to promote local food consumption and reports the implications for various development and distribution strategies regarding HMR using local food. In this study, a quantitative survey was conducted targeting 600 consumers to examine the general consumption status of HMR using local food by MZ consumers. In addition, a qualitative survey was conducted targeting 21 people to derive the specific perceptions and unmet needs of MZ consumers. These results showed that MZ consumers require healthy and fresh HMR but have low awareness of HMR using local food. Therefore, it is necessary to deliver sufficient information and promote it. In particular, MZ consumers have high expectations for 'healthy and safe' food when purchasing HMR using local food, which plays an important role in purchasing decisions. They also valued 'convenience', which means 'simple cooking', 'subdivision packaging', and 'accessibility of purchasing channels', as important when purchasing HMR using local food. Lastly, MZ consumers positively evaluated the values of 'healthy eating' and 'revitalization of the local economy' through local food.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: South Korea is representative of countries experiencing rapid societal aging. This study aimed to understand the current status of foodservice nutrition management provided to welfare facilities for the elderly and to understand improvements after support from "the Center for Social Welfare Foodservice Management (CSWFM)" in Cheongju City. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The status of foodservice nutrition management was assessed by dietitians and hired by the CSWFM, who visited 40 welfare facilities (registered members of the CSWFM) for the elderly in Cheongju City. After visiting each facility three times from July to December 2019, the results of inspections on four areas, that is, 'menu', 'meal provision', 'cooking', and 'distribution' management for 2nd and 3rd visits (support visits) were compared with results obtained at initial visits. RESULTS: Before support as determined during 1st visits, compliance rates with 'menu', 'meal provision', 'cooking', and 'distribution' requirements were 72.1%, 75.5%, 58.3%, and 77.5%, respectively. The mean compliance rate for all 15 items on the questionnaire used was 70.8%. Items with low compliance rates were 'Is the soup provided by foodservice at the recommended salinity?' (compliance rate 37.5%) and 'Is the foodservice cooking conducted by referring to a recipe?' (42.5%). At the two support visits, mean compliance rates increased significantly (P < 0.01, P < 0.001), mean total score had significantly increased from 71.80 to 90.26 (P < 0.001), and mean soup salinity decreased significantly from 0.82% at 1st visits to 0.68% (P < 0.001) and 0.56% (P < 0.001) at the 1st and second follow-up visits. CONCLUSIONS: These results show that the status of nutrition management at welfare facilities for the elderly was much improved by CSWFM involvement, and indicate the CSWFM should continuously provide nutrition management support to facilities and that finances and opportunities for more welfare facilities for the elderly be expanded.

Dietitians' satisfaction between elementary school and high school in KangWon Do region were surveys with questionnaires. 61 elementary school dietitians and 30 high school dietitians participated. The dietitians in elementary schools had higher scores in age, marital status, years at work, types of employment, average annual income and had lesser hours of work. In overall, elementary schools had higher percentage on self operation and on the period of their food distribution to students. High schools had higher percentage on conventional systems, freedom in the amount of food distribution, number of meals per day and the meal charge. It was clear that dietitians in high schools showed more interests in changing their careers due to the poor working environment and salary. The highest score was on the relationship with other coworkers and the lowest score was on the poor working environment and salary. In general, dietitians in both types of schools are not satisfied with their career, especially with the working environment and salary.
In this work, temperature rise and eddy current distribution on the enclosure and conductor of 3 pole gas insulated switchgear were investigated using analytical and experimental measures. The design of the diameters of the conductors and the enclosures of a meal clad gas insulated switchgear is primarily based on the insulation requirements. It is very difficult problem to predict the temperature rise of enclosed switchgear due to the complexity of the phenomena of heat transfer and existence of eddy current loss. To overcome this situations, we focused on the eddy current distribution on the enclosure of switchgear caused by high current 3 pole conductor as a fundamental basis. The experimental results about temperature distribution of 3 pole gas insulated switchgear were reported and measurements are compared with predictions of three-dimensional thermal model for eddy current analysis. As a result, three dimensional numerical analysis found to be in close relationship with experimental results and thermal model is efficient to predict the abnormal temperature rise in switchgear.
Although ready meals have recently increased their market share in the Korean food industry, a literature review found that the use of ready meals triggers feelings of guilt in homemakers. Such guilt arises as a result of several factors apparently related to consumers' health. Consequently, levels of guilt might be expected to vary depending on consumers' perceived health locus. The present study aims to examine (a) how health locus affects guilty feelings about ready-meal consumption, (b) how the effect varies in relation to the consumption of different types of ready meal, and (c) the relationship between consumers' guilty feelings and willingness to buy ready meals. Three dimensions of health locus of control (HLC) -internal HLC (IHLC), powerful-others HLC (PHLC), and chance HLC (CHLC)- were presumed to influence consumers' feelings of guilt in association with ready meals. Data were collected via an online survey, and participants were randomly assigned to either of two groups: one group was instructed to heat meals in a microwave (ready-to-heat [RTH] group, n=104) and the other cooked using a pan with additional ingredients (ready-to-cook [RTC] group, n=101). The study found that guilty feelings about consuming RTH meals increased in line with increased external HLCs, namely, PHLC and CHLC. For the RTC group, guilt increased in line with increased PHLC. IHLC had no significant effect on guilty feelings in either group. Willingness to buy ready meals decreased for both groups as consumers' feelings of guilt increased. Even RTC meals, which require more time and energy in food preparation, did not reduce guilty feelings among consumers with higher PHLC. RTC meals are preferable for consumers with higher CHLC, since their sense of greater involvement in the cooking process alleviates their feelings of guilt. Cooking with already prepared and uncooked ingredients brought fun and joy, both for the participants and their significant others. This interpretation may be developed into a strategic plan by ready-meal producers to strengthen their marketing strategy.
Purpose - This study examined the effect of the importance of selective attribute of HMR(Home Meal Replacement) on customers' satisfaction and repurchase intention which is rapidly increasing with the changes of demographic, social and cultural trends as well as the influence of on and offline shopping channel moderating role. Research design, data, and methodology - Based on the research of previous studies, it assumed the selection attributes of HMR products were price, convenience, menu, freshness. With 231 surveyed questionnaires, this study was conducted by AMOS 21.0 and the SEM(structural equation model) was used as statistical method for examining the hypotheses in this study. Results - The analysis showed that price, convenience, and freshness had a significant effect on satisfaction, whereas menu did not affect satisfaction and the effect of satisfaction on repurchase intention was statistically significant. However, the results were different depending on the on and offline shopping channel for customers to buy HMR products. Price, menu and freshness are affected by online shopping, meanwhile convenience is more influenced by offline. Conclusions - This study analyzed the effect of selection attribute of HMR products on the satisfaction, repurchase intention, and the influence of each shopping channel, and provided practical implications.
The food and nutrition system is a network of processes linking agriculture, food, eating, nutrition, and health. The system includes a series of nine stages (production, processing, distribution, acquisition, preparation, consumption, digestion, transport, and utilization) and two types of contexts (biophysical and sociocultural). Analysis of whole food and nutrition systems provides information about the structure and processes involved in the complete scope of food and nutrition, assisting in the identification of ″upstream″ influences and ″downstream″ consequences in the system. The current analysis gathered existing data about the food and nutrition system in South Korea from public sources and professional publications, and interpreted that information to consider how different elements of the system contribute to health. The findings revealed that South Korea has substantial domestic food production and processing supplemented by imports, widespread food distribution in markets and a growing number of Korean and Western restaurants, a relatively low percentage of household income spent on food, growing use of new food preparation methods such as microwave ovens, a rice/vegetable/fish based three-meal consumption pattern, few recorded digestive problems, increasing calorie storage as body fat, and a relatively low chronic disease prevalence compared to other developed societies. Examination of the full scope of the food and nutrition system provides a broad perspective using whole system thinking that can identify potential strategies for future research and intervention.
