S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) synthetase was purified to homogeneity from soybean (Glycine max) axes. The enzyme was purified 216-fold with a 1.5% yield by ammonium sulfate fractionation, acetone fractionation, ion exchange chromatography with DEAE-sephacel, gel filtration with Sephacryl S-300, and afffinity chromatography with ATP-agarose. The enzyme activity reached a maximum 3 days after germination. SAM synthetase had a subunit molecular weight of 57,000 daltons from a silver stained single band on SDS-PAGE. The molecular weight of the enzyme was 110,000 daltons from Sephacryl S-300 gel filtration. The enzyme was composed of two identical subunits. The $K_m$ values of the enzyme for L-methionine and ATP were 1.81 and 1.53 mM, respectively. The enzymatic activity was not affected by polyamines, agmatine, or SAM analogues, but was inhibited by SAM. The inhibition pattern was showed non-competitive for L-methionine and uncompetitive for ATP. The activity of SAM synthetase was inhibited by thiol-blocking reagents. The enzyme was induced by treatment with $10^{-3}$ M putrescine at germination. Experimental data revealed a possible novel regulation mechanism of polyamine biosynthesis through several endogenous intermediates.
Ondansetron is a potent, highly selective 5-hydroxytryptamin $e_3$(5-H $T_3$) receptor-antagonist, for the management of nausea and vomiting induced by cytotoxic chemotherapy and radiography, and the treatment of post-operative nausea and vomiting. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two ondansetron tablets, Zofran (Glaxo Smithcline Korea Ltd.) and Onfran (Korea United Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.), according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). Eighteen normal male volunteers, 24.39$\pm$1.69 year in age and 69.00$\pm$6.74kg in body weight, were divided into two groups and a randomized 2${\times}$2 cross-over study was employed. After one tablet containing 8mg of ondansetron was orally administered, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and the concentrations of ondansetron in plasma were determined using HPLC with UV detector. Pharmacokinetic parameters such as AVC, $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$ were calculated and ANOVA test was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters. The results showed that the differences in AUC, $C_{max}$ and T max between two tablets were 5.83%, 5.75% and -5.71%, respectively when calculated against the Zofran, tablet. The powers (1-$\beta$) for AUC, $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$ were above 90%, above 90% and below 60%, respectively. Minimum detectable differences($\Delta$) at alpha=0.1 and 1-$\beta$=0.8 were less than 20% (e.g., 12.74% and 11.78% for AUC and $C_{max}$ respectively). But minimum detectable differences($\Delta$) at alpha=0.1 and 1-$\beta$=0.8 for $T_{max}$ were more than 20% (e.g., 34.22%). The 90% confidence intervals were within $\pm$20% (e.g., -2.73∼14.39 and -2.16∼13.67 for AUC and $C_{max}$ respectively). But 90% confidence intervals for $T_{max}$ were not within $\pm$20% (e.g., -28.71∼17.28). Another ANOVA test was conducted for logarithmically transformed AUC and $C_{max}$. These results showed that there are no significant difference in AUC and $C_{max}$ between the two formulations: The differences between the formulations in these log transformed parameters were all for less than 20% (e.g., 5.83% and 5.75% for AUC and $C_{max}$ respectively). The 90% confidence intervals for the log transformed data were the acceptance range of log 0.8 to log 1.25 (e.g., log 0.99∼log 1.15 and log 0.98∼log 1.15 for AUC and $C_{max}$ respectively). The major parameters, AUC and $C_{max}$, met the criteria of KFDA for bioequivalence although $T_{max}$ did not meet the criteria of KFDA for bioequivalence, indicating that Onfran tablet is bioequivalent to Zofrm1 tablet.t is bioequivalent to Zofrm1 tablet.m1 tablet.m1 tablet.m1 tablet.

The pharmacokinetics of erythromycin (EM) after oral administration was studied in the cultured olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, using LC/MS/MS. After single- or multiple-dose administration of EM (50, 100, 200 mg/kg body weight and 50 mg/kg for 5 days) by oral route in olive flounder ($350{\pm}40g$, $22{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$), the concentration in the serum was determined at 1, 3, 6, 9, 24, 72, 120, 168, 264, 360, 504 and 720 h post-dose. The kinetic profile of absorption, distribution and elimination of EM in serum were analyzed fitting to a two-compartment model by WinNonlin program. The area under the concentration-time curve (AUC), maximum concentration ($C_{max}$), time for maximum concentration ($T_{max}$) following oral administration of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg b.w. and 50 mg for 5 days. EM was $165.3hr^*{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ ($C_{max}$, $34.63{\mu}g/m{\ell}$; $T_{max}$, 1.56 hr), $212.8hr^*{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ ($C_{max}$, $60.38{\mu}g/m{\ell}$; $T_{max}$, 3.99 hr), and $592.37hr^*{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ ($C_{max}$, $63.01{\mu}g/m{\ell}$; $T_{max}$, 4 hr), respectively. The results of this study related to dosage and ${\mu}{\cdot}$withdrawal times could be used for prescription of EM in field for the treatment of bacterial diseases in olive flounder.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to measure changes in the H-reflex and V wave under loading conditions (e.g. prone and standing position) and to investigate whether postural change would affect the H-reflex and V wave in post stroke hemiplegic patients. Methods: Thirty persons with hemiplegia resulting from stroke (20 males, 10 females) participated in this study. Electromyography (EMG) was used to electrically stimulate and record the soleus H-reflexes and V waves under various loading conditions. The normality of the distribution of each variable (H latency, $H_{max}/M_{max}$ ratio, $V_{max}/M_{max}$ ratio) was tested using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. The means of normally distributed continuous data were assessed by independent t-test (${\alpha}$=0.05). Results: There were statistically significant differences in $H_{max}/M_{max}$ ratio (p<0.01), $V_{max}/M_{max}$ ratio (p<0.01), H latency (p<0.01) among the prone and standing position. Conclusion: We found that the H-reflex and V wave in standing position was more active to weight bearing load than prone position.
Effects of leaf and pod removal on changes in leaf and seed number, and leaf, seed, pod and stem dry weight of soybean [Glycine max (L,) Merr.] cultivar ‘Hwangkeumkong’ were measured at the research farm of Korea University in 1992. The upper 40% and lower 60% of leaves and pods were subjected to treatments at the growth stage of beginning pod(R3). Leaf number and dry weight of lower part were increased by upper leaf-lower pod removal, but seed number and dry weight were decreased. Upper leaf-lower pod removal increased lower stem dry weight and decreased upper pod dry weight. Leaf-seed ratio of the upper leaf-lower pod removal was the highest with 3.54 and harvest index was the lowest with 27% among the treatments. Lower leaf-upper pod removal showed that more assimilates from upper leaves were translocated to lower seeds than from lower leaves to upper seeds in upper leaf-lower pod removal treatment.

For effective DC-free coding in the optical storage systems, the Guided Scrambling algorithm is widely used. To reduce digital discrepancy of the coded sequence, functions of digital sum value (DSV) are used as criteria to choose the best candidate. Among these criteria, the minimum digital sum value (MDSV), minium squared weight (MSW), and minimum threshold overrun (MTO) are popular methods for effective DC-suppression. In this paper, we formulate integer programming models that are equivalent to MDSV, MSW, and MTO GS coding. Incorporating the MDSV integer programming model in MaxMin setting, we develop an integer programming model that computes the worst case MDSV bound given scrambling polynomial and control bit size. In the simulation, we compared the worst case MDSV bound for different scrambling polynomial and control bit sizes. We find that careful selection of scrambling polynomial and control bit size are important factor to guarantee the worst case MDSV performance.
This experiment was carried out to investigate the lectin of soybean (Glycine max L.) seed. Purification was done by 50-80% ammonium sulfate precipitation, CM-cellulose and Sephadex G-100 column. The purity was ascertained by electrophoresis. The molecular weight of purified lectin was estimated as 132,000. It was composed of three subunits which molecular weight was 45,000. The lectin was identified as glycoprotein by Schiff's reagent staining and Dubois method. The lectin agglutinated erythrocytes of rabbit and human. The amounts of the lectin to agglutinate human erythrocytes differed among the blood types: The blood type A required the least amount, the next was B, O, and AB in order. The agglutination was specifically inhibited by 5${\mu}$g/ml of N -acetyl.-D-galactoseamine and 200${\mu}$g/ml of D-galactose. Other tested sugars could not inhibit the agglutination of the erythrocytes by the lectin.
