Optimal Design of Hybrid Motor with HTPB/LOX for Air-Launch Vehicle (공중발사체를 위한 HTPB/LOX 하이브리드 모터의 최적설계)

  • Optimal design of the hybrid motor has been performed for the first stage of nanosat air launch vehicle using F-4E Phantom as mother plane. Selected design variables are number of ports, the initial oxidizer flux, the combustion chamber pressure, and the nozzle expansion ratio. GBM(Gradient Based Method) and GA(Genetic Algorithm) are simultaneously used to compare the versatility of each algorithm for optimal design in this problem. Also, two objective functions of motor weight, and length are treated separatedly in the optimization to study how the objective function can affect the optimal design. The design results show that the optimal design can be successfully achieved either using GBM or GA regardless of the choice of the objective function; motor weight or length. And nanosat air launch vehicle which has total mass of 704.74kg, and length of first stage 3.74m is designed.

  • Launch Interface Ring roles as connection department of satellite and launcher for to deliver all structure loads that occur from the satellite, and one of the most intensive load received parts. Especially COMS, the first Korean developing GEO satellite, needs Launch Interface Ring with Tank Support Beam because of dissymmetry fuel tanks. The purpose of this study is the suitable form decision of Launch Interface Ring at preliminary design of COMS. In this study, launch mass and design constraints are investigated. Moreover, optimization algorithm and simplification technique are used. At the beginning of this study, three types of launch interface ring were presented and finally model 3 was the lightest design for resistance of launch environment. Nevertheless, model 1 can be suggested for application to COMS because of the satellite gravity center control and ease of fabrication.

  • The most important factors among extraction conditions in the extraction process of Barley and Casia tora seed are particle size, extraction temperature, time and initial concentration. In this research project, then, the amounts of extracted materials were measured at various conditions of above factors. They were increased as the particle sizes were decreased and were also increased in the proportional to the value of square of temperature. General mathematical prediction models were developed by an optimization technique for the amounts of extracted materials and extraction rate on the basis of each independent factor. Then, the final prediction model was obtained upon all the factors. As the results, it was also found that the values of overall mass transfer coefficients were increased as the particle sizes were decreased.

FE Model Updating on the Grillage Model for Plate Girder Bridge Using the Hybrid Genetic Algorithm and the Multi-objective Function (하이브리드 유전자 알고리즘과 다중목적함수를 적용한 플레이트 거더교의 격자모델에 대한 유한요소 모델개선)

  • In this study, a finite element (FE) model updating method based on the hybrid genetic algorithm (HGA) is proposed to improve the grillage FE model for plate girder bridges. HGA consists of a genetic algorithm (GA) and direct search method (DS) based on a modification of Nelder & Mead's simplex optimization method (NMS). Fitness functions based on natural frequencies, mode shapes, and static deflections making use of the measurements and analytical results are also presented to apply in the proposed method. In addition, a multi-objective function has been formulated as a linear combination of fitness functions in order to simultaneously improve both stiffness and mass. The applicability of the proposed method to girder bridge structures has been verified through a numerical example on a two-span continuous grillage FE model, as well as through an experimental test on a simply supported plate girder skew bridge. In addition, the effect of measuring error is considered as random noise, and its effect is investigated by numerical simulation. Through numerical and experimental verification, it has been proven that the proposed method is feasible and effective for FE model updating on plate girder bridges.

  • This article focuses on synthetic hormone consumption that illegal act of heterogeneous forms of pharmaceuticalization. Athletes are not unfamiliar with the use of synthetic hormones that contain anabolic steroids. Synthetic hormones are used to increase muscle mass and strength. This drug use practice cannot simply be viewed as illegal. Athletes accumulate knowledge on these hormones that conflicts with the knowledge proffered by physicians and they consume drugs responsibly. Physicians' knowledge of these hormones is limited to their use in the treatment of abnormalities. Athletes, however, are expanding the role of these hormones to include their potential for enhancement. Thereby, a new value is assigned to synthetic hormones, and an informal market is formed. Previous studies in the fields of biopolitics and biomedicalization have mainly focused on the formal connection between biomedical science and the institutional network. This article, therefore, analyzes the informal and the various aspects of biomedicalization.

Low-Temperature Si and SiGe Epitaxial Growth by Ultrahigh Vacuum Electron Cyclotron Resonance Chemical Vapor Deposition (UHV-ECRCVD)

  • Low-temperature epitaxial growth of Si and SiGe layers of Si is one of the important processes for the fabrication of the high-speed Si-based heterostructure devices such as heterojunction bipolar transistors. Low-temperature growth ensures the abrupt compositional and doping concentration profiles for future novel devices. Especially in SiGe epitaxy, low-temperature growth is a prerequisite for two-dimensional growth mode for the growth of thin, uniform layers. UHV-ECRCVD is a new growth technique for Si and SiGe epilayers and it is possible to grow epilayers at even lower temperatures than conventional CVD's. SiH and GeH and dopant gases are dissociated by an ECR plasma in an ultrahigh vacuum growth chamber. In situ hydrogen plasma cleaning of the Si native oxide before the epitaxial growth is successfully developed in UHV-ECRCVD. Structural quality of the epilayers are examined by reflection high energy electron diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, Nomarski microscope and atomic force microscope. Device-quality Si and SiGe epilayers are successfully grown at temperatures lower than 600℃ after proper optimization of process parameters such as temperature, total pressure, partial pressures of input gases, plasma power, and substrate dc bias. Dopant incorporation and activation for B in Si and SiGe are studied by secondary ion mass spectrometry and spreading resistance profilometry. Silicon p-n homojunction diodes are fabricated from in situ doped Si layers. I-V characteristics of the diodes shows that the ideality factor is 1.2, implying that the low-temperature silicon epilayers grown by UHV-ECRCVD is truly of device-quality.

Optimization of Substract Concentration in Cell Production of Fungal Chitosan (균류키토산의 균체생산에서 기질농도 최적화에 관한 연구)

  • In the process of producing chitosan from crustacean shell, the use of excessive acid and alkli is causing the problems of environmental pollution and of production cost. In this study, one way to solve these problems is to cultivate fungi, then, to extract chitosan from the cell wall. By means of flask incubation and batch cultivation, the optimum cultivation conditions for mass production of continuous cultivation was found. Four strains used for the production of fungal chitosan were Gongronella butleri IF08080, Absidia coerulea IF05301, Rhizopus delemar IF04775, Mucor tuberculisporus IF09256. In flask incubation to select strain of producing much chitosan by means of experiment of the effect of initial pH, Absidia coerulea IFO 5301 had highest yield in FCs, 258.1 $\pm$ 47.3 mg/200 $m\ell$l at pH 6.5. In flask incubation under the optimum cultivation condition, temperature 27$^{\circ}C$, culture time 6days, glucose 2%, peptone 1%, (NH$_4$)$_2$ SO$_4$ 0.5%, $K_2$HPO$_4$ 0.1 %, Nacl 0.1 %, MgSO$_4$ㆍ7$H_2O$ 0.05%, CaCl$_2$ㆍ2$H_2O$ 0.01 %, the yield of DCW brought the highest yields. In batch bioreactor, the optimum cultivation condition was that cell suspended solution was 70 $m\ell$, aeration rate 0.5 l/min, agitation rate 800 rpm, culture time 36 hr. In continuous bioreactor, the optimum substrate flow rate was 4 ι/day.

Optimal Production Conditions of Streptomyces griseus Trypsin (SGT) in Streptomyces lividans

  • The sprT gene encoding Streptomyces griseus trypsin (SGT) was introduced into Streptomyces lividans TK24 and Streptomyces lividans 1326 to study which strain would be better to overexpress the extracellular proteinase. Various media with different compositions were also used to maximize the productivity of SGT in heterologous hosts. The SGT productivity was best when the transformants of S. lividans TK24 and 1326 were cultivated in R2YE medium, and their relative trypsin activity of the culture broth measured with an artificial chromogenic substrate, N-${\alpha}$-benzoyl-DL-arginine-${\rho}$-nitroanilide, were 382 units/ml and 221 units/ml, respectively. They produced high levels of SGT in GYE medium but relatively lower than those in R2YE medium, and negligible amount of SGT was produced in Ferm, RASF, LIVID, and NDSK media. Considering non-SGT associated activity in Pronase powder, it was estimated that the transformant of S. lividans TK24 can produce SGT in R2YE 3.5 times more than the amount by S. griseus 10137 from which the sprT gene had been originated. The growth of S. lividans reached the maximum level of cell mass at 5 d of culture, but SGT production started in the stationary phase of cell growth and kept increasing until the ninth day of culture in R2YE medium, but in GYE media the productivity reached at the maximum level at 7 d of cultivation.

  • In this study, a method for designing blade pitch and generator torque controllers for a wind turbine generator is presented. This method consists of two steps. First, the Lyapunov stability theory is used to obtain nonlinear control laws that can regulate the rotor speed and the power output at all operating ranges. The blade pitch controller is chosen such that it always decreases a positive definite function that represents the error in rotor speed control. Similarly, the generator torque controller always decreases a positive definite function that reflects the error in power output control. Then, the simulation-based optimization technique is used to tune the design parameters. The controller design procedure and simulation results are presented using the widely adopted two-mass model of the wind turbine.

  • This paper presents a robust design of vehicle interior noise using Taguchi method and a substructure synthesis method with a hybrid model. Firstly, the proposed method identifies the critical process of the concerned interior noise through a TPA (Transfer Path Analysis). Secondly, a strategy for a robust design is discussed, in which the major noise factor among uncertainties in the process is quality distribution of rubber bushes connecting a cradle and a trimmed body. Thirdly, a virtual test model fer the process is developed by applying a substructure synthesis method with a hybrid modeling approach. Fourthly, virtual tests are carried out according to the predefined tables of orthogonal array in Taguchi robust design process. The process was performed under 2 sub-steps. The first step is sensitivity analysis of 31 panels, and the other step is weight optimization of mass dampers on sensitive panels. Finally, two vehicles with the proposed countermeasures were validated. The proposed method reduces 87.5% of trials of measurements due to the orthogonal arrays and increases robustness by 8.6dB of S/N ratio and decreases $5\;dB(A){\sim}10\;dB(A)$ of interior noise in the concerned range of RPM.
