  • The exhaust gas from electric power stations, incinerators and industrial boilers contains considerable amount of harmful nitric oxide which causes air pollution. Selective catalytic reduction system with ammonia as a reductant(NH$_{3}$ SCR) have been applied to remove NOx since 1970. it is widely accepted that the NH$_{3}$ SCR process is the best method for the removal of NOx. In this paper the design of SCR reactor based on the NOx displacement is considered and the design program of SCR reactor is developed. The newly developed design program for de-NOx system maybe used in practice.

Numerical investigation of the high pressure selective catalytic reduction system impact on marine two-stroke diesel engines

  • This study aims to investigate the impact of the High Pressure Selective Catalytic Reduction system (SCR-HP) on a large marine two-stroke engine performance parameters by employing thermodynamic modelling. A coupled model of the zero-dimensional type is extended to incorporate the modelling of the SCR-HP components and the Control Bypass Valve (CBV) block. This model is employed to simulate several scenarios representing the engine operation at both healthy and degraded conditions considering the compressor fouling and the SCR reactor clogging. The derived results are analysed to quantify the impact of the SCR-HP on the investigated engine performance. The SCR system pressure drop and the cylinder bypass valve flow cause an increase of the engine Specific Fuel Oil Consumption (SFOC) in the range 0.3-2.77 g/kWh. The thermal inertia of the SCR-HP is mainly attributed to the SCR reactor, which causes a delayed turbocharger response. These effects are more pronounced at low engine loads. This study supports the better understanding of the operating characteristics of marine two-stroke diesel engines equipped with the SCR-HP and quantification of the impact of the components degradation on the engine performance.

원자로 냉각재 펌프용 스테인리스강에 대한 화학적 제염 공정 개발 (Development of Chemical Decontamination Process of Stainless Steel for Reactor Coolant Pump)

  • As a reactor coolant pump (RCP) is operated in the nuclear power system for a long time, so its surface is continuously contaminated by radioactive scales. In order to maintain for RCP internals, a special chemical decontamination process should be used to reduce the radiation from the RCP surface. In this study, applicable possibility in chemical decontamination for RCP was investigated for the various stainless steels. The stainless steel (STS) 304 showed the best electrochemical properties for corrosion resistance and the lowest weight loss ratio in chemical decontamination process model 3-1 than other materials. However, the pitting corrosion was generated in both STS 415 and STS 431 with the increasing numbers of cycle. The intergranular corrosion in STS 415 was sporadically observed. The sizes of their pitting corrosion were also increased with increasing cycle numbers.

어류 폐기물의 혐기성소화 처리(I): 반응조 형상 및 슬러지층 유동화가 소화조 Start-up에 미치는 영향 (Anaerobic Digestion Fish Offal(I): Effect of Reactor Configuration and Sludge Bed Fluidization on Start-up of Digester)

  • 혐기성 소화조의 단면적/용량 비를 일정하게 한 상태에서 반응조 직경만을 달리한 반응조에 유기물 부하율에 따른 소화조 운전효율을 평가하였다. $0.4\;kg\;COD/m^3{\cdot}d$의 낮은 유기물 부하율에서는 반응조 직경에 관계없이 높은 처리 효율을 나타내어 반응조 형상에 따른 처리효율 차이는 없었다. $6\;kg\;COD/m^3{\cdot}d$의 유기물 부하율에서는 반응조 직경에 따라 전혀 다른 처리효율이 관측되었다. 즉, 직경 6.4 cm 반응조에서는 휘발성산의 축적과 낮은 COD 제거효율이 관측되었으나 직경 3 cm 반응조에서는 높은 COD 제거효율이 관측되었고 휘발성산의 축적도 일어나지 않았다. 이러한 차이가 나타나게 된 이유는 직경이 작은 반응조의 경우에는 생성된 가스의 부상에 의해 슬러지층의 유동화가 원활하게 일어난데 반해 직경이 큰 반응조의 경우에는 그렇지 못한 것이라고 판단된다. $20\;kg\;COD/m^3{\cdot}d$의 높은 유기물 부하율에서는 반응조 직경과는 관계없이 극히 낮은 처리효율을 나타내어 높은 유기물 부하에서는 반응조 형상과 처리효율과는 관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 혐기성 소화조의 효율적인 start-up은 슬러지층의 유동화가 중요한 인자이며 동일 단면적/용량 비에서 반응조 직경이 작을수록 유리한 것으로 나타나 반응조 형상도 반응조 운전효율에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

  • This study is on SCR reactor, NOx reduction system in Marine that has been an issue nowadays. Especially design data was obtained by numerical on flow uniformity that is one of the design factor in SCR reactor. Also pressure drop on catalyst size inserted into SCR reactor was compared by experiment and numerical analysis. S/W, numerical analysis used for this study was confirmed that the result of numerical analysis used STAR-CCM+, common use CFD code, pressure drop on catalyst is not big different from the result of numerical analysis. In addition, degree of uniformity of liquid on SCR reactor was over 0.9. Whereas it was assured that degree of uniformity of liquid was changed depends on the shape of pipe at the entrance of SCR.

In order to perform regular or emergency repair about RCP internals a special decontamination process should be used to reduce the radiation from the RCP surface by means of chemical cleaning. In this study, applicable possibility in chemical decontamination for RCP was investigated on the various materials. The STS 304 showed the best electrochemical properties for corrosion resistance than other materials. However, the pitting corrosion was slightly generated in both STS 415 and STS 431 with the increasing numbers of cycle and intergranular corrosion were sporadically observed. The size of their pitting corrosion and intergranular corrosion were also increased with increasing cycle numbers.

Study on Stiffened-Plate Structure Response in Marine Nuclear Reactor Operation Environment

  • As the regulations on greenhouse gas emissions at sea become strict, efforts are being made to minimize environmental pollutants emitted from fossil fuels used by ships. Considering the large sizes of ships in conjunction with securing stable supplies of environment-friendly energy, interest in nuclear energy to power ships has been increasing. In this study, the neutron irradiation that occurs during the nuclear reactor operation and its effect on the structural responses of the stiffened-plate structures are investigated. This is done by changing the material properties of DH36 steel according to the research findings on the neutron-irradiated steels and then performing the structural response analyses of the structures using analytical and finite-element numerical solutions. Results reveal the influence of neutron irradiation on the structural responses of the structures. It is shown that both the strength and stiffness of the structures are affected by the neutron-irradiation phenomenon as their maximum flexural stress and deflection are increased with the increase in the amount of neutron irradiation. This implies that strength and stiffness need to be considered in the design of ships equipped with marine nuclear reactors.

해양전력계통에서 한류 리액터 적용에 관한 연구 (A study on applications of current limiting reactor in marine electrical power systems)

  • 조선해양 및 플랜트 분야에서의 전력계통 구성은 분산 배치된 각각의 발전모선을 전기적으로 연결하여 사용한다. 이러한 방식은 다중화 된 모선이라기보다는 육상에서의 계통 연계와 동일한 개념으로 인식하는 것이 적합할 것이다. 이는 발전모선의 추가로 인하여 모선의 단락용량 또한 비례적으로 증대되기 때문이다. 단락용량의 증가는 관련 제반 비용의 상승을 초래하고 전기적 고장 발생 시에 물리적으로 연결된 모선들이 일시에 대정전(Blackout)을 발생시킬 가능성도 높아진다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 한류 리액터가 적용된 조선해양 전력계통에서 발전모선을 위상구조(Bus Topology)에 따라 분류하고 고장 종류 별로 단락전류 해석을 수행하였으며 그 결과를 상호 비교하여 장단점을 제시하였다.

  • The aim of this paper is further studies to achieve deeper understanding in this field. First investigate the influence of operating conditions and design parameters on the hydrodynamics and the mass transfer properties of a loop reactor. This paper provides a literature review on the ejectors applications in the mixing system. A number of studies are grouped and discussed in several topics such as the background, theory of ejector, mixing characteristics, optimization of the system. Since the high efficiencies reactor using ejector widely used in gas-liquid system, especially in a number of chemical and biochemical processes. This is due to their high efficiency in gas dispersion resulting in high mass transfer rate and low power requirements. Thus ejector has been applied to the mixing system. An investigation on hydrodynamics and mass transfer characteristics of gas-liquid ejector has been carried out using three-dimensional CFD modeling.
