  • An integrated underground spatial map consists of underground facilities, underground structures, and ground information, and is periodically updated. In this paper, we design and implement a system for detecting and extracting only changed ground objects to shorten the map update speed. To find the changed objects, all the objects are compared, which are included in the newly input map and the reference map in the integrated map. Since the entire process of comparing objects and generating results is classified by function, the implemented system is composed of several modules such as object comparer, changed object detector, history data manager, changed object extractor, changed type classifier, and changed object saver. We use two metrics: detection rate and extraction rate, to evaluate the performance of the system. As a result of applying the system to boreholes, ground wells, soil layers, and rock floors in Pyeongtaek, 100% of inserted, deleted, and updated objects in each layer are detected. In addition, it provides the advantage of ensuring the up-to-dateness of the reference map by downloading it whenever maps are compared. In the future, additional research is needed to confirm the stability and effectiveness of the developed system using various data to apply it to the field.

  • Due to the recent increase in various problems from underground development in urbanized areas, accurate underground facility information management is highly needed. Therefore, in this study, in order to utilize the Integration Map of Underground Goespatial Information in real time on-site, the function of comparing the mutual location of the GPR (Ground Penetration Radar) sensing data and the Integration Map of Underground Goespatial Information, and function of analyze underground facilities, and function of converting surveying data into a shape file through position correction & attribute editing in a 3D space, and the function of submitting the shape file to the Integration Map of Underground Goespatial Information mobile center was defined and developed as a program. In addition, for the on-site application test of the development program, scenarios used at the underground facility real-time survey site and GPR exploration site were derived, and four sites in Seoul were tested to confirm that the use scenario worked properly. Through this, the on-site utilization of the program developed in this study could be confirmed, and it would contribute to the confirmation of the quality of Shape-file and the "update automation" of "Integration Map of Underground Goespatial Information". In addition, it is expected that the development program will be further applied to the Underground Facility Map's Accuracy Improvement Diffusion Project' promoted by the MOLIT (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport).

  • In ubiquitous GIS system, the spatial information could be updated and utilied by mobile terminals. Spatial information stored in mobile terminals should be able to synchronize to the server. However, in mobile environment, there are some limitations in synchronization service due to the limited bandwidth. The ActMAP system, that was developed to consider of mobile environment, has suggested a partial update protocal for synchronization in order to solve the narrow bandwidth problem. But it is still has a problem that it does not consider two-way synchronization between a server and a mobile terminal. This paper suggests a two-way synchronization protocol between a server and mobile terminals. It, therefore, is inclined to supporting updated and utilization of spatial information using mobile terminals.

  • Occupancy sensors installed in buildings and households turn off the light if the space is vacant. Currently PIR(pyroelectric infra-red) motion sensors have been utilized. Recently, the researches using camera sensors have been carried out in order to overcome the demerit of PIR that cannot detect stationary people. The detection of moving and stationary people is a main functionality of the occupancy sensors. In this paper, we propose an on-line human occupancy tracking method using convolutional neural network (CNN) and self-organizing map. It is well known that a large number of training samples are needed to train the model offline. To solve this problem, we use an untrained model and update the model by collecting training samples online directly from the test sequences. Using videos capurted from an overhead camera, experiments have validated that the proposed method effectively tracks human.

  • This study aimed to design a semi-automatic web-based pilot system 1) to build a Korean novel geo-name, 2) to update the database using automatic geo-name extraction for a scalable database, and 3) to retrieve/visualize the usage of an old geo-name on the map. In particular, the problem of extracting novel geo-names, which are currently obsolete, is difficult to solve because obtaining a corpus used for training dataset is burden. To build a corpus for training data, an admin tool, HTML crawler and parser in Python, crawled geo-names and usages from a vocabulary dictionary for Korean New Novel enough to train a named entity tagger for extracting even novel geo-names not shown up in a training corpus. By means of a training corpus and an automatic extraction tool, the geo-name database was made scalable. In addition, the system can visualize the geo-name on the map. The work of study also designed, implemented the prototype and empirically verified the validity of the pilot system. Lastly, items to be improved have also been addressed.

  • UAV(Unmanned Aerial vehicle) could be effectively applied in a field of land monitoring for analyzing disaster area and mapping, because it can quickly acquire image data at low costs. For this reason, we reviewed the legal system related to mapping, and proposed suggestions for improving in legal system, due to introducing the UAV to Korean land-monitoring through this paper. Also, we evaluated spatial and time accuracy of the digital map, which are generated from UAV images that were taken for occasional map updates and disaster detections. As a result, the mean error is about 10m if only GPS/INS data used, while using GCP(Ground Control Points) it is about 10cm. Therefore, we conclude that the UAV could be effective method in korea land-monitoring field.

  • Direct Georeferencing(DG) Is based on the direct measurement of the projection centers and rotation angle of sensor through loading the GPS and INS in aircraft. The methods can offer us to acquire the exterior orientation parameters with only minimum GCPs, even the ground control process could be completely skipped. Hence, as long as securing Digital Elevation Model (DEM), it is feasible to generate digital orthophotos without performing the aerial triangulation with Ground Control Point (GCP) surveying. In this study, the DEM is automatically generated by using a image matching technique based on aerial photos and exterior orientation parameters. This is followed by producing an orthophoto from these results. Finally, accuracy analysis of the georeferencing technique for generating orthoimage indicates that RMS errors of 62cm and 76cm occurred at the X and the Y axis, respectively. This means that the results fulfill the demanding accuracy of the 1:5000 digital map. Hence, it is possible to conclude from this study that the direct georeferencing based orthoimage generation method is able to effectively digital map update.

  • In navigator systems, keeping map data up-to-date is an important task. Manual update involves a substantial cost and it is difficult to achieve immediate reflection of changes with manual updates. In this paper, we present a method for trajectory-center extraction, which is essential for automatic road map generation with GPS data. Though clustered trajectories are necessary to extract the center road, real trajectories are not clustered. To address this problem, this paper proposes a new method using the maximum overlapping interval and trajectory clustering. Finally, we apply the Virtual Running method to extract the center road from the clustered trajectories. We conducted experiments on real massive taxi GPS data sets collected throughout Gang-Nam-Gu, Sung-Nam city and all parts of Seoul city. Experimental results showed that our method is stable and efficient for extracting the center trajectory of real roads.

  • In this paper, we propose a methodology for estimating the optimal traversable destination from the location-based information of the object recognized by the mobile robot to perform the object delivery service. The location estimation process is to apply the generalized Voronoi graph to the grid map to create an initial topology map composed of nodes and links, recognize objects and extract location data using RGB-D sensors, and collect the shape and distance information of obstacles. Then, by applying the hybrid approach that combines the center of gravity and thinning method, the optimal moving position for the service robot to perform the task of grabbing is estimated. And then, the optimal node information for the robot's work destination is updated by comparing the geometric distance between the estimated position and the existing node according to the node update rule.
