  • This study is a research about performance of fireproof board using industrial waste such as oyster shell and dry process bottom ash through the heating test and conclusions were obtained as follows. Test samples show back side temperatures as follows : in $300^{\circ}C$, $103.1{\sim}125.1^{\circ}C$, in $600^{\circ}C$, $201.1{\sim}210.1^{\circ}C$, in $900^{\circ}C$, $249.2{\sim}276.9^{\circ}C$. In the test, temperature increases of specimens of fireproof board are kept at certain temperatures hence it could be concluded that the specimens withstand high temperatures. According to the test, it could be concluded that fireproof board made by smaller particles shows better performance up to $600^{\circ}C$ while at higher temperatures, fireproof board made by bigger particles shows better performance. It is estimated that fireproof board made by particles of bigger size has more pore structure and it delays heat conduction.

  • Accuracy and precision of the goniometer and the specimen holder should be measured and corrected to improve reliability of 3-D structure analysis using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In this study, we described the operation principle and performance of the Gatan rotation holder. Through analysis of the images taken inside the microscope, rotation angles were measured within the accuracy of ${\pm}0.42^{\circ}$. For comparison the rotation angles were measured outside the microscope using a home-made measurement tool, which resulted in the accuracy of ${\pm}0.6^{\circ}$. Additionally, we found abnormal specimen drifts during rotation probably due to the unstable engagement between the specimen cup and the rotation belt.

  • One way to shield an atypical structure to secure the occupant safety of an impact vehicle is to stack energy absorbing material modules around the structure. To be applicable to a cushion module, material must have enough energy absorbing capabilities while satisfying the safety requirements of the vehicle occupant. Static compression test of the potential materials gives a good indication which material is good for a slacking module. This paper presents the mechanical properties that a cushion material must have to satisfy the safety requirements. Static tests are performed for Quard-Guard system module, sand bag, recycled tires, Geo-Container, Geo-Cell and Expanded Polystyren (EPS) Blocks. Static test results are discussed and EPS block of $30kg/m^{3}$ density showed good potential for a cushion module. To check the dynamic effect of EPS block, drop tests have been made up to 35.6km/h impact speed. Drop test results are compared with static test results and no appreciable difference was found. To improve the EPS module property, making holes to the block is suggested and drop test are performed for the modified blocks. From the drop test results, design values are suggested.

  • Cast iron manhole lids cause environmental pollution during the manufacturing process, and the work environment is very poor. In addition, if the height of the manhole cover does not match the height of the road surface, it causes considerable inconvenience and safety problems. This study proposes a height - adjustable steel manhole cover that can replace cast iron manhole covers and easily match the road surface with the upper surface of the manhole cover. Structural analysis was performed to grasp the design variable of the structure of the manhole cover, satisfying the required quality performance. To fabricate a manhole cover that satisfies the required load capacity, the optimal design for the U-shaped reinforcement structure was made. The cylindrical shape of the height adjustment part and the low frame were formed by bending the steel sheet into a circular shape and then welding. Reinforcing bars were also made by bending a steel plate. The height adjustment groove was machined by a CNC milling machine. Four prototypes were fabricated and a load bearing test was carried out, and new manhole cover was made reflecting results of the test. In the load bearing test, there was no breakage of the welded part, and deformation occurred mainly at the contact area between the groove and gusset plate. Deformation of 1 to 2.7mm occurred due to a load of 450kN. On the other hand, after removing the load, there was almost no residual deformation, and the load bearing evaluation was judged to be satisfactory because the manhole cover could be disassembled and reassembled.

  • The use of Compaction Grouting evolved in 1950's to correct structural settlement of buildings. Over the almost 50 years, the technology has been developed and is currently used in wide range of applications. Compaction Grouting, the injection of a very stiff, 'zero-slump' mortar grout under relatively high pressure, displaces and compacts soils. It can effectively repair natural or man-made soil strength deficiencies in variety of soil formations. Major applications of Compaction Grouting include densifying loose soils or fill voids caused by sinkholes, poorly compacted fills, broken utilities, improper dewatering, or soft ground tunneling excavation. Other applications include preventing liquefation, re-leveling settled structures, and using compaction grout bulbs as structural elements of minipiles or underpinning. In this paper, on the basis of the case history constructed in this year, a study has been performed to analyze the basic mechanism of the Compaction Grouting. Also, the effectiveness of the ground improvement and the bearing capacity of the Compaction Pile has been verified by the Cone Penetration Test(CPT) and Load Test. Relatively uniform Compaction grouting column could be maintained by planning the Quality Control in the course of grouting. And, the Quality Control Plan has been conceived using grout pressure, volume of grout and drilling depth.

  • In this paper, we describe DSSS transceiver development robust to jamming signals as an investigation of ECCM transceiver for UAV uplink. The jamming margin is 15dB or greater with the development target of transceiver because the jamming margin is more important than the transmission rate of data and the spreading code can be changeable. The rake receiver is applied to combine multipath components and turbo code which the coding gain is 7.2dB as a FEC. In this paper, the whole structure, design method and functional test result about the designed modem are described and a conclusion is made.

  • The use of Compaction Grouting evolved in the 1950's to correct structural settlement of buildings. Over the almost 50 years, the technology has developed and is currently used in wide range of applications. Compaction Grouting, the injection of a very stiff, 'zero-slump' mortar grout under relatively high pressure, displaces and compacts soils. It can effectively repair natural or man-made soil strength deficiencies in variety of soil formations. Major uses of Compaction Grouting include densifying loose soils or fill voids caused by sinkholes, poorly compacted fills, broken utilities, improper dewatering, or soft ground tunneling excavation. Other application include preventing liquefaction, re-leveling settled structures, and using compaction grout bulbs as structural elements of minipiles or underpinning. The technique replaced slurry injection, or 'pressure grouting', as the preferred method of densification grouting. There are several reasons for the increased use of Compaction Grouting which can be summarized in one word: CONTROL. The low slump grout and injection processes are usually designed to keep the grout in a homogeneous mass at the point of injection, while acceptable in some limited applications, tends to quickly get out of control. Hydraulic soil fracturing can cause extensive grout travel, often well beyond the desired treatment zone. So, on the basis of the two case history constructed in recent year, a study has been peformed to analyze the basic mechanism of the Compaction Grouting and verify the effectiveness of the ground improvement using some test methods.

  • A study was made to examine the electrical, compositional, structural and morphological properties of Ag thin films deposited by DC magnetron sputtering in $O_2$ atmosphere with deposition temperature from room temperature to 15$0^{\circ}C$ using in-line sputter system. The Ag films deposited at temperature above $100^{\circ}C$ in oxygen atmosphere gave a similar specific resistivity to and even lower oxygen content than those deposited using pure Ar sputter gas The Ag films deposited with pure Ar gas was mainly composed of crystallites with [111] preferred orientation, while, for those deposited in oxygen atmosphere, more than 50% of the volume was composed of crystallites with [100] orientation. The difference in the micro structure did not cause any difference in the specific resistivity of Ag films. The results showed that the transparent conducting oxide films and the Ag films could be processed sequentially in the same deposition chamber with careful control of deposition temperature, which might result in a cost reduction for constructing the large scale in-line deposition system.

  • In this research, the finite difference lattice Boltzmann method(FDLBM) is used to analyze gravity currents in the lock exchange configuration that occur in many natural and man-made situations. At a lock those are seen when a gate is suddenly opened, and, in the atmosphere, when the thunderstorm outflows make a cold front. At estuaries in the ocean, the phenomenon is found between fresh water from a river and salt water in the sea. Since such interesting phenomena were recognized, pioneers have challenged to make them clear by conducing both experiments and analysis. Most of them were about the currents of liquid or Boussinesq fluids, which are assumed as incompressible. Otherwise, the difference in density of two fluids is small. The finite difference lattice Boltzmann method has been a powerful tool to simulate the flow of compressible fluids. Also, numerical predictions using FDLBM to clarify the gravity currents of compressible fluids exhibit all features, but typically observed in experimental flows near the gravity current head, including the lobe-and-cleft structure at the leading edge.
