  • This paper focuses on the stability and operability of a man-machine system considering a human operator. Some papers' main interest has been the stability only, but the operability such as fatigue is also the other main interest. In a man-machine system, feelings such as motional, visual, and kinesthetic are important since those enable operators to work easily or fatigue operators. A model of a man-machine system has been developed. Motional, visual, and kinesthetic feelings may be considered as feedbacked sensor signals. We also have quantified the degree of fatigue with respect to reference operation. This is a performance index to be optimized. Several methods are presented to optimize the degree of fatigue and the stability of the integrated system. Examples are presented to show that the usefulness of the proposed modeling method and fatigue mitigating algorithm.

  • In designing a man-machine system(machines, work surfaces, work places, etc.), human's internal and external characteristics should be considered. But the resulting system may not be perfect, and many idiosyncratic and situational errors occur while operating. The entropy model with the limited data is known as a useful method to verify the internal system status. This paper shows a quantitative method to describe the system compatability between man and machine by entropy model and error data.

  • The main issue of his paper is to quantify the compatability between man and machine in a system. This paper offers an evaluation model derived from transfer function of control system, and shows a methodology of applying efficiency for man and machine to the model to quantify the compatability of a system.

  • Though fuzzy control is very popular at present, the application field of fuzzy system will be wider if we design it as a man-machine system. We suggest, in this paper, a man-machine cooperating system which makes easy the manual control of a triple inverted pendulum by simple fuzzy controller, and verify its effectiveness by experiments.

  • As computer systems get complex more and more, the powerful but easy-to-use man machine interfaces are required. This paper describes the man machine interface in the TDX-10 switching system currently being developed at ETRI. The man machine interface in TDX-10 provides a reliable and user-friendly system interface through which system operators can manage the system in a convenient way. It incorporates the window, menu, form, on-line help, history recording, command file batching and color graphics capabilities.

  • As a basic study for Man-Machine interfacing technics, this paper purposed the vertorization of EOG(electrooculogram) that is generated by eye movement. EOG is electric potential difference between the positive potential of cornea and the negative potential of retina. The magnitude and the polarity are depend on the direction of eye movement and degree of gaze angle. In order to vectorize EOG, EOG signal is measured about vertical and horizontal movement of eyes. This vectorization of EOG is expected to help Man-Machine Interfacing technics and development of other useful equipment.

  • This Paper is concerned with a man-multi machine assignment problem to minimize idle time. Assuming different types of semi-automatic machines with deterministic service-processing time, the problem approaches by sequential dependent one operator can handle several machines, where determine optimal range the cost of idle labor and machine time is to be minimized in preparing a work schedule. The Procedure, to establish man-machine assignment model, and it's results are: (1) Objective function to minimize opportunity loss cost, which is happened by idle time, is verified recursive process through heuristic method. (2) The algorithm, is programmed by BASIC language for personal computer, and a numerical example is given to illustrate the heuristic algorithm. This study will be helpful to enhance productivity of Shopflooras a result of increasing the efficiencies of both operator and machine.

  • This paper presents a model which may be used in optimal control of the Man-Machine systems in the aspect of information transmission. For this, we divided information into human parts and machine parts, and consider minimum error principle as a machine operating logic. Furthermore, we take the maximum information principle as a human information operating logic. This can be done in considering the Fisher Information and its transformed type, information inequality.

  • This study is concerned with the evaluation model construction of Man-Machine System(MMS) using Transfer Function in order to improve the control characteristics of an operator in the system and the procedure for ergonomic system design, When man, as a subsystem, performs his allocated functions in a system, many physical and physiological problems such as fatigue, stress and error occur. And the imperfect design of a MMS may itself be a situational factor that accelerates stress as well as an idiosyncratic factor that causes errors. So, the economy of design should be considered together with the ergonomic characteristics on the evaluation of MMS.
