A Study on the Improvement of Urinary Incontinence Symptoms in Patients with Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Magnetic Innervation Therapy (침구치료 및 체외자기장신경치료의 병행을 통한 여성 요실금 판자 치료에 관한 증례 고찰)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to show the effect of acupuncture, moxibustion and magnetic innervation therapy for urinary incontinence symptoms. Methods : Ten female patients suffering from urinary incontinence had been given the treatments of acupuncture, moxibustion and magnetic innervation therapy for more than 8 times. Before and after treatment, they accomplished questionnaire for quality life survey and checked vaginal pressure measurement with perionometer. Results : The results were as follows 1) The mean${\pm}SD$ of Questionnaire score was significantly decreased from $35.40{\pm}11.88$ to $21.20{\pm}7.66$ after treatment(P<&0.047). 2) The mean${\pm}SD$ of maximum vaginal presssure was significantly increased from $48.80{\pm}25.35mmHg$ to $62.20{\pm}25.09mmHg$(p<&0.040). 3) The mean${\pm}SD$ of average vaginal presssure was significantly increased from $33.50{\pm}19.62mmHg$ to$43.10{\pm}16.49mmHg$(p<&0.015). Conclusion : Our results suggested that acupuncture, moxibustion and magnetic innervation therapy is effective for urinary incontinence symptoms.

A Study of Anxiety and Depression in Women Incontinence Patients: Comparison of before and after Treatment of Extracoporeal Magnetic Innervation;ExMI (여성 요실금 환자의 불안과 우울: 체외자기장신경치료 후의 호전)

  • Objective: The purposes of this study were to investigate anxiety and depression that can mediate stress and elicit a response from the women with urinary incontinence and compare the anxiety and depression level before and after treatment of extracoporeal magnetic innervation. Method: Fifty-five women with urinary incontinence were included from a obstetrics and gynecology cilnic. Beck Anxiety Inventory(BAI), Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAI) were administered before and after treatment of extracoporeal magnetic innervation. Results: The women with urinary incontinence had higher levels of anxiety and depression. Anxiety and depression were reduced after treatment of extracoporeal magnetic innervation regardless of improvement incontinence. Conclusion: Therapies including extracoporeal magnetic innervation may be intrumental in improving anxiety and depression, If the patient do not show improvements of anxiety and depression after treatment for their urologic disorder or if the therapy is unsuccessful, appropriate referral is indicated.

A Survey on the Treatments used in Oriental Obsterics & Gynecology (한방부인과질환에 사용되는 치료방법에 대한 조사연구)

  • Purpose: In order to know therapies used in the field of Obsterics & Gynecology of Oriental medicine. Methods: This survey investigated papers about clinical study, literature investigation for therapeutic methods and treatment reports published from 1999. 2${\sim}$2008. 11. Results: In the clinical studies, acupuncture is more frequently used than herbal medicine. But in the treatment reports, herbal medicine is most frequently used except some cases. Besides acupuncture and moxibustion was used frequently. In the treatment reports various acupuncture methods were used except vaginal bleeding or abdominal pain cases. Whole body acupuncture was used mainly. Pharmacopuncture, Sa-am Acupuncture, auricular acupuncture was also used frequently. And Dong's acupuncture, Hwa acupuncture was used sometimes. Moxibustion was tend to be used for dysfunctional uterine bleeding, menopausal disorder, urinary incontinence, vaginal bleeding or abdominal pain during pregnancy period, hyperemesis, recurrent miscarriage, postpartum disease, lochiorrhea. Also other treatment methods was used such as external therapy, aromatherapy, herbal retention enema, fumigation, electric lipolysis acupuncture, Chuna manual medicine, obesity management, acupuncture at uterus cervix, magnetic innervation therapy, exercise, cupping and physical therapy. Conclusion: These results suggests that acupuncture, moxibustion and herbal medicine are most frequent therapy in the field of Obsterics & Gynecology of Oriental medicine. And other therapy are used such as external therapy, aromatherapy, herbal retention enema, fumigation and so on.

Literature Study about Oriental Medical Treatment on the Urinary Incontinence (요실금의 한의학적 치료에 대한 문헌고찰)

  • In Oriental medicine, urinary incontinence is defined involuntary voiding of urine. This study was performed to investigate the treatment on urinary incontinence through the literature of oriental medicine. This study reviews the therapy method of urinary incontinence based on 63 books of oriental medicine and 20 papers about the treatment of urinary incontinence. Herbal medicine has been used as urinary incontinence treatment. One of herbal remedy is selected according to the symptoms, and then herbal products are supplemented such as warm-hot, convergence medicines. Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy has been performed with herbal medicine, electroacupuncture, pharmacopuncture, conservation therapy such as Kegel exercise, timed voiding and extracorporeal magnetic innervation for incontinence treatment. The treatment of urinary incontinence by oriental medicine includes auricular acupuncture, external medical treatment and taoist methods. There is a lack of related study about these therapy.
