Conncxin (Cx) is an important and essential protein induction of oocyte maturation, which is present in almost all mammalian tissucs except cirulating blood cells and adult skeletal museles. In this study, goldfish Cx43 cDNA sequence is available in GenBank under the accession number AB078505. Homology analyses using the GenBank and EMBL general database searches indicated that goldfish Cx43 cDNA has a high homology with carp Cx43 (95.1% identity), zebrafish Cx43 (90.5% identity), and chicken Cx43 (81.9% identity). Goldfish Cx43 is similar to the Cx family in its general features, and all the typical Cx consensus sequences are also found. Moreover, significantly increased Cx43 transcrpts were observed in mature goldfish (GSI; 18.3-21.7) pituitary and ovary when compared with immature goldfish (GSI; 4.9-6.0). Cx43 transeripts were weakly detectrd in both liver and kidney of immature and mature goldfish. There is possible that Cx43 nctivity was relation to oocyte maturation in the goldfish.

6-Methoxydihydrosanguinarine (6ME), a benzophenanthridine alkaloid derived from the methanol extracts of Hylomecon hylomeconoides, showed a dose-dependent effect at 1-10 ${\mu}M$ on causing apoptotic cell death in HT29 colon carcinoma cells $(IC_{50} = 5.0{\pm}0.2 {\mu}M)$. Treatment of HT-29 cells with 6ME resulted in the formation of internucleosomal DNA fragmentation. Treatment of the cells with 6ME caused activation of caspase-3, -8 and 9 protease and subsequent proteolytic cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase. 6ME increased the expression of p53 and Bax and decreased the expression of Bid. These results indicate that p53 and proapoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins might participate in the antiproliferative activity of 6ME in HT29 cells.

Through the research of tracheophytes type around Mt. Daedun, we are aiming at figuring out the habitat condition of useful resource plants by the classification of vegetation units and communities using the Z-M phyto-sociological method in the basis of the traits of species composition and by the analysis of vegetation and environment by way of coincidence method. Tracheophytes in our research sites was classifid into 117 family, 475 genus 797, species 102 variety,18 breed, in total to 917 kinds. The forest around Mt. Daedun district was classified into 6 communities, 12 groups, 2 sub-groups according to feature species group, differential species group and differential. Judging the result from the examination of community classification factors by the coincidence method, vegetation unit was decided by altitude and topography.

본 연구결과 채집된 어류는 총 9과 36종 4,669개체였다. 과(family)로는 잉어과(Cyprinidae) 어류가 24종으로 전체 채집된 어종의 66.7%로 가장 많이 출현하였다. 고유종은 쉬리(Coreoleuciscus splendidus) 등 20종으로 55.6%를 차지하여 높은 출현율을 보였다. 멸종위기야생동물(endangered species)로 감돌고기(Pseudopungtungia nigra) 외 2종이 출현하였다. 구성비가 가장 높은 종은 참갈겨니(Zacco koreanus)로 34.0%를 차지하여 우점종으로 나타났고, 다음은 피라미(Z. platypus)로 22.6%, 쉬리는 13.3% 순으로 나타났다. 쉬리의 산란기는 4월~6월로 나타났으며, 주산란성기는 5월 이었다. 유속, 수심 및 하상에 대한 쉬리의 HSI는 유속 0.4~0.6 m/sec, 수심 0.3~0.5 m, 하상재료 가는자갈 굵은자갈로 나타났다. 생태유량을 모의한 결과, 하류로 내려갈수록 유량이 증가되어 쉬리가 살 수 있는 가용면적이 커지는 것으로 나타났다.

The objective of this study is to find out demographic characteristics, motivation to move, housing values, and present housing satisfaction of expected purchasers, so that the results contribute to better planning of the medium size apartments at Guyoung in Ulsan city The field survey on 472 households has been carried out at suburbs of Ulsan. Major findings are as follows : 1) Demographic characteristics, motivation to move, housing values, and present housing satisfaction differ as the size expected purchasers live in at present. 2) To increase the motivation to move to Guyoung, well designed of planning common space, parking area, cultural and welfare facilities is essential. 3) To enhance the satisfaction level, better plan of dinning space and second bathroom is important for the apartments of 20py.s(~$m^2$), and that of family bathroom and utility space for the apartments of 30py.s(~$m^2$).

The flora and vegetation of the alpine grassland at Dalmoon on Mt. Paektu were investigated on July 24, 1997 by 1 m ${\times}$ 1 m quadrat method. The flora of the vascular plants investigated on this alpine grassland was 36 taxa belonging to 17 families, 35 genera, 29 species, 3 subspecies, 4 varieties. Te leading families were Compositae (7 taxa) and Gramineae (4 species), and the forb was more than the grass. Four dwarf shrubs which were Salix metaformosa, Dryas octopetala var. asiatica, Rhododendron aureum and Vaccinium vitis-idaea were found at the studied sites. This alpine grassland was composed of 17 communities, Astragalus uliginosus, Sanguisorba sitchensis, Deschampsia caespitosa were dominated over 18, 5 and 4 quadrats, respectively.

CREBZF (cAMP-response element binding protein zhangfei) is a member of ATF/CREB family, and which regulates various cellular functions by suppressing major factors with direct interaction. In this study, we have examined the expression of CREBZF on mouse endometrium during uterus estrous cycles and estrogen (E2) treatment. In uterus, CREBZF mRNA expression was higher than other organs and mRNA and protein of CREBZF was increased in proestrus phase and decreased in estrus phase. The expression of CREBZF in 3-weeks old mouse uterus was reduced by E2 injection in endometrium. In addition, the expression of progesterone receptor, a marker of E2 in ovariectomized mice was found to be strongly expressed in stroma, while CREBZF was only expressed in epithelium. Also, we conformed that E2-suppressed CREBZF was restored by co-injection of ICI 182,780, an estrogen receptor antagonist. Overall, these results suggest that CREBZF is regulated by estrogen and involved in ER signaling pathway in mouse uterus.

The powers of some tests for independence hypothesis against positive (negative) quadrant dependence in generalized Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern distribution are compared graphically by simulation. Some of these tests are usual linear rank tests of independence. Two other possible rank tests of independence are locally most powerful rank test and a powerful nonparametric test based on the $Cram{\acute{e}}r-von$ Mises statistic. We also evaluate the empirical power of the class of distribution-free tests proposed by Kochar and Gupta (1987) based on the asymptotic distribution of a U-statistic and the test statistic proposed by $G{\ddot{u}}ven$ and Kotz (2008) in generalized Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern distribution. Tests of independence are also compared for sample sizes n = 20, 30, 50, empirically. Finally, we apply two examples to illustrate the results.

We have investigated the genetic variation in the human apo B mRNA editing protein (apobec-1) gene. Exon 3 of the apobec-1 gene was amplified by polymerase chain reaction. After detection of an additional band by single strand conformational polymorphism (SSCP) analysis, sequencing of the SSCP-shift sample revealed a single-base mutation. The mutation was a CGG transversion at codon 80 resulting in a lleRMet substitution. This substitution was confirmed by restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis since a Pvull site is abolished by the substitution. Population and family studies confirmed that the inheritance of the genotypes for apobec-1 gene polymorphism is controlled by two codominant alleles (P1 and P2). A significant difference in plasma triglyceride was detected among the different apobec-1 genotypes in the CAD patients (P<0.05). Our study could provide the basis for elucidating the interaction between genetic variation of the apobec-1 gene and disorders related to lipid metabolism.
