The Genus Martensia Hering (Delesseriaceae, Rhodophyta) with M. albida sp. nov. and M. flammifolia sp. nov. on Jeju Island, Korea

  • The genus Martensia (Delesseriaceae, Rhodophyta) is characterized by thalli composed of one to several blades that consist of proximal membranous sections and distal latticework. Nerves or veins are absent in the membranous sections. The life cycle of Martensia is accomplished by isomorphic alternation of generations. The gametophytes of Martensia are dioecious, and the male and female gametangial plants are morphologically similar. The type species of Martensia is M. elegans Hering. In this study, nine species were confirmed to occur in the subtidal regions of Jeju Island, Korea: M. albida sp. nov., M. australis Harvey, M. bibarii Y. Lee, M. elegans Hering, M. flammifolia sp. nov, M. fragilis Harvey, M. jejuensis Y. Lee, M. palmata Y. Lee, and M. projecta Y. Lee. Three of these, M. australis, M. fragilis, and M. elegans, are new records in the flora of Korea. The results of molecular analyses of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) 1 region in the nrDNA showed that M. elegans is identical to M. australis, and M. fragilis coincides with M. bibarii. It may be a less effective tool for the species discrimination in Martensia.

  • Nanostructured OLED light extraction films have been made via roll-to-roll coating processes. Their on-axis and integrated outcoupling efficiencies reach 2X and 1.3-1.8X, respectively. Optical performance and effects of the nanostructured film on pixel blur and image ghosting will be discussed.

  • Let $m$ and $k$ be any positive integers, let $\mathbb{Z}_k$ the ring of integers of modulo $k$, let $G_m(\mathbb{Z}_k)$ the group of all $m$ by $m$ nonsingular matrices over $\mathbb{Z}_k$ and let ${\phi}_m(k)$ the order of $G_m(\mathbb{Z}_k)$. In this paper, ${\phi}_m(k)$ can be computed by the following investigation: First, for any relatively prime positive integers $s$ and $t$, $G_m(\mathbb{Z}_{st})$ is isomorphic to $G_m(\mathbb{Z}_s){\times}G_m(\mathbb{Z}_t)$. Secondly, for any positive integer $n$ and any prime $p$, ${\phi}_m(p^n)=p^{m^2}{\cdot}{\phi}_m(p^{n-1})=p{^{2m}}^2{\cdot}{\phi}_m(p^{n-2})={\cdots}=p^{{(n-1)m}^2}{\cdot}{\phi}_m(p)$, and so ${\phi}_m(k)={\phi}_m(p_1^n1){\cdot}{\phi}_m(p_2^{n2}){\cdots}{\phi}_m(p_s^{ns})$ for the prime factorization of $k$, $k=p_1^{n1}{\cdot}p_2^{n2}{\cdots}p_s^{ns}$.

In vitro Metabolism of Pentoxifylline Metabolite M-l in Human Liver Microsomes (인체 간 microsome에서 pentoxifylline 대사체 M-1의 시험관내 대사)

  • The metabolism and pharmacokinetics of M-l, which is metabolite of pentoxifylline, have been studied in human liver microsomes. Biphasic kinetics was observed from the Eadie-Hofstee plot for the formation of both metabolites of M-l. For the kinetics of pentoxifylline, mean values of $V_{max1}{\;}and{\;}V_{max2}$ were 1,648 and 5,622 nmol/min/mg protein, and the estimated values of $K_{ml}{\;}and{\;}K_{m2}$ were 0.180 and 4.829 mM, respectively. For M-3, mean values of $V_{max1}{\;}and{\;}V_{max2}$ were 0.062 and 0.491 nmol/min/mg protein, and estimated values of $K_{ml}{\;}and{\;}K_{m2}$ were 0.025 and 1.216 mM. The formations of pentoxifylline and M-3 from M-1 were indentified by using several selective inhibitors of cytochrome P450 isoformes at 0.05-5 mM concentration of M-1 in human liver microsomes. For the analysis of low (0.05 mM) concentration of M-1, where the affinity was expected as low, indicated that CYPlA2 and CYP3A4 were major P450 isoforms responsible for pentoxifylline and M-3 formation. CYP3A4 and CYP2A6 appeared to be P450 isoforms responsible for M-3 formation at high (5 mM) concentration of M-1.

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate effects of NaCl concentration on photosynthetic rate, free proline content and ion content in tobacco. As NaCl concentration was increased growth was retarded. The decrease growth characteristics(shoot/root ratio was 2.0) at 90mM NaCl indicated that this concentration could be a limiting level. As NaCl concentration was increased photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, and water use efficiency were decreased. Photosynthetic rate was highly decreased at 60mM NaCl. There was no significant difference between transpiration rate and water use efficiency. Leaf water potential was decreased as NaCl concentration was increased, in that twice lower at 30mM than that of control and drop largely at 120mM NaCl. Free proline content was increased as NaCl increased until 120mM NaCl and drop at 150mM NaCl. The $Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, and $K^+$ contents were increased until NaCl concentration was 120mM. The $Na^{2+}$ content was slowly increased as NaCl concentration increased until 120mM NaCl, and largely increased at 150mM NaCl. There was no significant difference between $Cl^-$ and NaCl treatments except 30 mM NaCl in which $Cl^-$ content was higher than that of control. As NaCl concentration was increased $K^+/Na^+$ ratio was decreased. The negative correlation between $K^+$ and $Na^+$, and positive correlation between $K^+/Na^+$ and protein content were found.

  • Recently, as IT technologies developed, communication technologies of a various forms that satisfied convenience of user are being researched. Among various research, unlike traditional forms of communication, M2M communication is getting attention that without any control or involvement of people to establish communication between devices. However, the M2M communication could more easily be exposed to many security problems such as data exposure, data theft, unauthorized change and delete and privacy. Therefore, in this paper, we derive security requirements and propose the M2M communication architecture that provide a secure M2M communication environment. Also, we propose a secure mutual authentication and key establishment protocol between a M2M device or gateway domain and a M2M network domain. The proposed protocol is secure against replay attack, impersonation attack and protect a user privacy and tracing.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of clothing pressure of Bell-bottom slacks according to various movements of the legs In this study, movements of legs were classified by M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6. (M1: erecting Position, M2: Setting Position, M3: Stepping Pssition, M4: Leapfrogging Position, M5: Sit-on-one's Position, M6: Traditional noble-sitting) The results were as follows: clothing pressure was very different according to the movements of the legs and was in order M4>M5>M6>M2>M3>M1. Particually, clothing pressure in the knee point is the highest in the M4 movement $(550.81g/cm^{2})$.

Inhibition and Chemical Mechanism of Protocatechuate 3,4-dioxygenase from Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes KF707 (Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes KF707에서 유래한 protocatechuate 3,4-dioxygenase 의 저해 및 화학적 메커니즘)

  • We carried out pH stability, chemical inhibition, chemical modification, and pH-dependent kinetic parameter assessments to further characterize protocatechuate 3,4-dioxygenase from Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes KF707. Protocatechuate 3,4-dioxygenase was stable in the pH range of 4.5~10.5. L-ascorbate and glutathione were competitive inhibitors with $K_{is}$ values of 0.17 mM and 0.86 mM, respectively. DL-dithiothreitol was a noncompetitive inhibitor with a $K_{is}$ value of 1.57 mM and a $K_{ii}$ value of 8.08 mM. Potassium cyanide, p-hydroxybenzoate, and sodium azide showed a noncompetitive inhibition pattern with $K_{is}$ values of 55.7 mM, 0.22 mM, and 15.64 mM, and $K_{ii}$ values of 94.1 mM, 8.08 mM, and 662.64 mM, respectively. $FeCl_{2}$ was the best competitive inhibitor with a $K_{is}$ value of $29{\mu}M$. $FeCl_{3}$, $MnCl_{2}$, $CoCl_{2}$, and $AlCl_{3}$ were also competitive inhibitors with $K_{is}$ values of 1.21 mM, 0.85 mM, 3.98 mM, and 0.21 mM, respectively. Other metal ions showed noncompetitive inhibition patterns. The pH-dependent kinetic parameter data showed that there may be at least two catalytic groups with pK values of 6.2 and 9.4 and two binding groups with pK values of 5.5 and 9.0. Lysine, cysteine, tyrosine, carboxyl, and histidine were modified by their own specific chemical modifiers, indicating that they are involved in substrate binding and catalysis.

  • Let R be a commutative ring with identity and M an R-module. In this paper, we associate a graph to M, say ${\Gamma}(M)$, such that when M = R, ${\Gamma}(M)$ is exactly the classic zero-divisor graph. Many well-known results by D. F. Anderson and P. S. Livingston, in [5], and by D. F. Anderson and S. B. Mulay, in [6], have been generalized for ${\Gamma}(M)$ in the present article. We show that ${\Gamma}(M)$ is connected with $diam({\Gamma}(M)){\leq}3$. We also show that for a reduced module M with $Z(M)^*{\neq}M{\backslash}\{0\}$, $gr({\Gamma}(M))={\infty}$ if and only if ${\Gamma}(M)$ is a star graph. Furthermore, we show that for a finitely generated semisimple R-module M such that its homogeneous components are simple, $x,y{\in}M{\backslash}\{0\}$ are adjacent if and only if $xR{\cap}yR=(0)$. Among other things, it is also observed that ${\Gamma}(M)={\emptyset}$ if and only if M is uniform, ann(M) is a radical ideal, and $Z(M)^*{\neq}M{\backslash}\{0\}$, if and only if ann(M) is prime and $Z(M)^*{\neq}M{\backslash}\{0\}$.

구상성단 M53과 M92의 상대 나이 비교

  • 보현산천문대 1.8 m 망원경과 2K CCD를 이용하여 2002년 4월과 2003년 5월에 중원소 함량이 아주 적은 구상성단 M53(NGC 5024)과 M92(NGC 6341)에 대하여 BVI CCD 측광관측을 수행하였다. 구상성단 M53과 M92의 정밀한 상대 나이 측정을 위하여 M53의 측광관측 자료에 대해 조동환과 이상각이 2007년 출간한 구상성단 M15(NGC 7078)와 M92를 대상으로 수행한 측광연구 논문에서 M92의 측광관측 자료를 분석할 때 적용한 꼭 같은 방식으로 전처리, PSF 측광, 표준화 등의 자료 분석을 수행하였다. 그리고 구상성단 M53의 V 대 BV, V 대 V-I, 그리고 V 대 B-I 색-등급도를 제시하였다. 구상성단 M53과 M92의 상대 나 이는 ${\Delta}$(B-V) 방법을 이용하여 도출하였다. 구상성단 M53과 M92 사이의 상대 나이 비교에서 M92의 절대 나이를 14 Gyr로 취할 경우 M53의 상대 나이가 M92의 상대 나이보다 $1.1-2.6{\pm}0.9$ Gyr 적은 것으로 유도하였다. 구상성단 M53과 M92의 이 상대 나이 차이는 M53과 M92의 약간 다른 수평계열 형태 차이를 유발했을 것으로 추정한다.
