We presents a study of interactions between galaxies in the low-redshift group known as the NGC 4065 group. Imaging data were taken using the 2.4 meter telescope at the Thai National Observatory (TNO) for B, V and $R_c$ broadband filters and [$S\small{II}$] and Red-continuum narrowband filters. There are 21 galaxies in our sample. The results show that most early type galaxies (ETGs) with equivalent width EW($H{\alpha}$) < $10{\AA}$ are gas-deficient galaxies, while late type galaxies (LTGs) show more EW($H{\alpha}$) and are bluer than the ETGs. This means that star formation activity in the LTGs could be triggered by tidal interactions between galaxy members due to dense environmental effects in the compact group.
Inclusion of the ground state of $^{16}O$ is investigated for a study of elastic ${\alpha}-^{12}C$ scattering for the l = 0 channel at low energies in effective field theory. We employ a Markov chain Monte Carlo method for the parameter fitting and find that the uncertainties of the fitted parameters are significantly improved compared to those of our previous study. We then calculate the asymptotic normalization constants of the $0^+$ states of $^{16}O$ and compare them with the experimental data and the previous theoretical estimates. We discuss implications of the results of the present work.

The characteristic ratio assignment (CRA) method〔1〕 is new polynomial approach which allows to directly address the transient responses such as overshoot and speed of response time in time domain specifications. The method is based on the relationships between time response and characteristic ratios($\alpha_i$ ) and generalized time constant (T), which are defined in terms of coefficients of characteristic polynomial. However, even though the CRA can apply to developing a linear controller that meets good transient responses, there are still some fundamental questions to be explored. For the purpose of this, we have analyzed several sensitivities of a linear system with respect to the changes of coefficients itself and $\alpha_i$ of denominator polynomial. They are (i) the unnormalized root sensitivity : to determine how the poles change as $\alpha_i$ changes, and (ii) the function sensitivity to determine the sensitivity of step response to the change of o, and to analyze the sensitivity of frequency response as o, changes. As an other important result, it is shown that, under any fixed T and coefficient of the lowest order of s in denominator, the step response is dominantly affected merely by $\alpha_1, alpha_2 and alpha_3$ regardless of the order of denominator higher than 4. This means that the rest of the$\alpha_i$ s have little effect on the step response. These results provide some useful insight and background theory when we select $\alpha_i$ and T to compose a reference model, and in particular when we design a low order controllers such as PID controller.
Ferric oxide (${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$, hematite) is an n-type semiconductor; due to its narrow band gap ($E_g=2.1eV$), it is a highly attractive and desirable material for use in solar hydrogenation by water oxidation. However, the actual conversion efficiency achieved with $Fe_2O_3$ is considerably lower than the theoretical values because the considerably short diffusion length (2-4 nm) of holes in $Fe_2O_3$ induces excessive charge recombination and low absorption. This is a significant hurdle that must be overcome in order to obtain high solar-to-hydrogen conversion efficiency. In consideration of this, it is thought that elemental doping, which may make it possible to enhance the charge transfer at the interface, will have a marked effect in terms of improving the photoactivities of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ photoanodes. Herein, we report on the synthesis by pulsed electrodeposition of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$-based anodes; we also report on the resulting photoelectrochemical (PEC) properties. We attempted Ti-doping to enhance the PEC properties of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ anodes. It is revealed that the photocurrent density of a bare ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ anode can be dramatically changed by controlling the condition of the electrodeposition and the concentration of $TiCl_3$. Under optimum conditions, a modified ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ anode exhibits a maximum photocurrent density of $0.4mA/cm^2$ at 1.23 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) under 1.5 G simulated sunlight illumination; this photocurrent density value is about 3 times greater than that of unmodified ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ anodes.
Parkin is known to be a tumor suppressor protein. Previously, we determined that parkin expression restores susceptibility to TNF-${\alpha}$-induced death of HeLa cells, a human cervical cancer cell line resistant to TNF-${\alpha}$-induced cell death. MMP-3 is a zinc-dependent protease recently reported to activate intracellular apoptotic signaling. In this study we examined the regulation of MMP-3 expression by parkin in TNF-${\alpha}$-treated HeLa cells. Furthermore, we investigated the signaling pathway involved in parkin-induced expression of MMP-3. We found that HeLa cells exhibit low levels of MMP-3 but is induced after introduction of the parkin gene into HeLa cells. Furthermore, MMP-3 expression increased further when parkin expressing cells were treated with TNF-${\alpha}$. Using chemical inhibitors of cell signaling pathways, we found that MEK-1 (PD98059), PI3K (LY294002), p38 MAPK (SB203580), and JNK inhibitors alleviated parkin-induced up-regulation of MMP-3. Finally, we show that TNF-${\alpha}$-induced cell death in parkin expressing cells is inhibited by using a MMP-3 inhibitor. These results suggest that parkin expression induces prolonged expression of MMP-3 via MEK-1, PI3K, MAPK, and JNK pathway in HeLa cells allowing the HeLa cells to become sensitive to TNF-${\alpha}$-induced cell death. These results implicate a role of MMP-3 in parkin-induced cell death in TNF-${\alpha}$ treated HeLa cells.

This study is to find physiological effects of acoustic information on landscape preference. Both the volume and the rate of $\alpha$-waves and $\beta$-waves were used to measure the effects in the study. The result of this study are summarized as follows: The outputting amount of $\alpha$-waves are sorted by different types of visual and acoustic factors. The results show that acoustic factors interacted with visual factors. That is, although visual factors are positive, the volume of $\alpha$-waves depends upon the character of acoustic factors; positive acoustic factors produce more $\alpha$-waves than negative or neutral(soundless) acoustic factors. Also the volume of $\alpha$-waves increase in the case of positive acoustic factors even if there is the same negative visual information. The results show that the volume of $\alpha$-waves increase without connecting with the types of visual factors. The volume of $\beta$-waves are largely reduced when visual stimulus is positive and soundless stimulus is provided. On the other hand, they generally increase when both visual and acoustic stimuli are negative, which fosters extremely unstable, tense and upset stress. The rate of $\alpha$-waves increase according to supplying positive acoustic factors in the opposed visual factors. The rate of wave(shouldn't be $\alpha$-waves\ulcorner) is high if both visual and acoustic factors are positive, so it is the most comfortable and causes no stress. Preference is the lowest if visual and acoustic factors are negative, but a -waves are conspicuously low in positive visual and negative acoustic factors.
Insulin stimulates glucose transport in muscle and fat cells by promoting the translocation of glucose transporter (GLUT4) to the cell surface. Phosphatidylinositide 3-kinase (PI3-kinase) has been implicated in this process. However, the involvement of protein kinase B (PKB)/Akt and $PKC-{\zeta}$, those are known as the downstream target of PI3-kinase in regulation of GLUT4 translocation, is not known yet. An interesting possibility is that these protein kinases phosphorylate GLUT4 directly in this process. In the present study, $PKB-{\alpha}$ and $PKC-{\zeta}$ were added exogenously to GLUT4-containing vesicles purified from low density microsome (LDM) of the rat adipocytes by immunoadsorption and immunoprecipitation for direct phosphorylation of GLUT4. Interestingly GLUT4 was phosphorylated by $PKC-{\zeta}$ and its phosphorylation was increased in insulin stimulated state but GLUT4 was not phosphorylated by $PKB-{\alpha}.$ However, the GST-fusion proteins, GLUT4 C-terminal cytoplasmic domain (GLUT4C) and the entire major GLUT4 cytoplasmic domain corresponding to N-terminus, central loop and C-terminus in tandem (GLUT4NLC) were phosphorylated by both $PKB-{\alpha}$ and $PKC-{\zeta}.$ The immunoblots of $PKC-{\zeta}$ and $PKB-{\alpha}$ antibodies with GLUT4-containing vesicles preparation showed that $PKC-{\zeta}$ was co-localized with the vesicles but not $PKB-{\alpha}.$ From the above results, it is clear that $PKC-{\zeta}$ interacts with GLUT4-containing vesicles and it phosphorylates GLUT4 protein directly but $PKB-{\alpha}$ does not interact with GLUT4, suggesting that insulin-elicited signals that pass through PI3-kinase subsequently diverge into two independent pathways, an Akt pathway and a $PKC-{\zeta}$ pathway, and that later pathway contributes, at least in part, insulin stimulation of GLUT4 translocation in adipocytes via a direct GLUT4 phosphorylation.
The purpose of this study was to develop a breeding technique to increase Hanwoo of superior characteristics. In the present study, reproductive status of Hanwoo such as size of farm, breeding system and gestationi length was investigated. In addition, effect of low dose administration of prostaglandin F2$\alpha$(PGF2$\alpha$) on luteolysis was examined. The size of farm was classified by the total number of cows and the number of breeding stocks, respectively. The distribution of herd size of < 5, 6~10, 11~30, 31~50 and > heads was 31%, 15%, 39%, 4% and 11%, respectively. Furthermore, the distribution of breeding stock size of <5, 6~10, 11~30, 31~50 and > 50 heads was 36%, 28%, 31%, 3% and 3%, respectively. Average parity was 2.1 in breeding stock. In breeding pattern, artificial in semination(A.I), estrus synchronization-A.I and natural mating was 92.7%, 2.4% and 4.9% respectively. Gestational length of Hanwoo was ranged 253~316 days (average length : 285 days) after estrus( estrus=0). To induce luteolysis, PGF2$\alpha$ was injected into ovarian parenchyma by a modified ovarian injector. The effect of administration of 6mg PGF2$\alpha$ on luteolysis and estrus induction was betweer (P<0.01) when PGF2$\alpha$ was administered into ovarian parechyma than when administered intramuscluarly (71 vs. 91%). When PGF2$\alpha$ was injected into ovarian parenchyma, a decreased concentration to 3 mg did not significantly decreaed its luteolytic effect(92%). When AI was performed following PGF2$\alpha$ treatment, the intraovarian injection group yielded a higher pregnancy rate(69 vs. 88%) than the IM injection groups, regardless of the dosage. In conclusion these results suggest that increasing herd size and regular reproductive management are needed to improve reproductive efficiency in Hanwoo industry. Furthermore, intraovarian administration of PGF2$\alpha$ is effective way to induce luteolysis compared with intramuscular injection.
Absorption properties of methylene blue (MB) in L-${\alpha}$-lecithin vesicle, bacteriorhodopsin and incorporated bacteriorhodopsin (InBR) vesicle systems at 20∼$60^{\circ}C$ has been studied by adsorption spectroscopy. The equilibrium of MB between monomer and dimer in lecithin vesicles has been existed at low concentration of MB, but oligomer has been formed in vesicle at higher concentration of MB. In most cases, the MB cluster was redistributed to monomer at the concentration of lecithin vesicles. Adding BR to constanr concentration of MB deceased the adsorption ratio (${\alpha}/{\beta}$) of MB, and MB was formed oligomeric aggregate. Absorption ratio (${\alpha}/{\beta}$) of MB was increased during phase transition of InBR vesicles, but independent of phase transition of lecithin vesicles. It suggested that aggregate of MB on the surfaces of InBR vesicles were redistributed to monomer under the influence of lipid phase transition.
Rate of 11.alpha.-hydroxylation of progesterone with Rhizopus nigricans was accelerated by glucose. Glucose seemed to play an important role in the formation of cofactor because its effects on the reaction were almost same as those of electron acceptors such as NADPH and $NaIO_{4}$. Rate of glucose consumption appeared to increase in proportion as the rate of hydroxylation reaction, which enhanced with increase in the glucose concentration to level off at 0.5 g/l for mycelia and at 20 g/l for spores. However, for mycelia immobilized in polyacrylamide gel, externally added glucose did not affect the reaction rate at all because of the glucose accumulated in the gel during the cultivation period. 5.alpha.-Reduction of 11.alpha.-hydroxyprogesternoe required much higher concentration of glucose than 11.alpha.-hydroxylation of progesternoe so that high yield of 11.alpha.-hydroxyprogesternoe can be obtained by repressing the activity of 5.alpha.-reductase at low concentration of glucose.
