  • Recently, with the development of digital technology, new research cases which applied new technology were increased. Also, the related equipment and services are being developed in the industry. Before new equipment is developed and released, it must go through a verification process. In the maritime industry, equipment is verified through simulation tests or environmental tests on land. However, if only the test on land is conducted, verification data in the actual operating environment might be insufficient. In this paper, considerations are described in the development of an onboard demonstration scenario for verification in the operating environment.

  • The ship system is complex and advanced, and the operation relationship between each element is very high. So it is necessary to approach it in terms of an overall and integrated system in addition to the traditional sequential approach of finding and removing the direct cause of the accident when analyzing the accident. In this study, it is analyzed the recent fire accidents on ships occurred the Korean terrestrial water using a STAMP methodology that is different from conventional accident analysis techniques. This analysis reviews a range of factors, including safety requirements to prevent fires in ships, inappropriate decisions and actions, situations, equipment defects, and recommendations derived from accident analysis results. Through a comprehensive approach to accident prevention using STAMP, alternative evaluations are presented at the component level within the entire system of ships, and they are systematically used for accident prevention and risk evaluation as well as simple accident analysis.

  • The transportation problem (TP) is one of the earliest and the most significant implementations of linear programming problem (LPP). It is a specific type of LPP that mostly works with logistics and it is connected to day-to-day activities in our everyday lives. Nowadays decision makers (DM's) aim to reduce the transporting expenses and simultaneously aim to reduce the transporting time of the distribution system so the bi-objective transportation problem (BOTP) is established in the research. In real life, the transportation parameters are naturally uncertain due to insufficient data, poor judgement and circumstances in the environment, etc. In view of this, neutrosophic bi-objective transportation problem (NBOTP) is introduced in this paper. By introducing single-valued trapezoidal neutrosophic numbers (SVTrNNs) to the co-efficient of the objective function, supply and demand constraints, the problem is formulated. The DM's aim is to determine the optimal compromise solution for NBOTP. The extended weighted possibility mean for single-valued trapezoidal neutrosophic numbers based on [40] is proposed to transform the single-valued trapezoidal neutrosophic BOTP (SVTrNBOTP) into its deterministic BOTP. The transformed deterministic BOTP is then solved using the dripping method [10]. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the applicability, effectiveness and usefulness of the solution approach. A sensitivity analysis (SA) determines the sensitivity ranges for the objective functions of deterministic BOTP. Finally, the obtained optimal compromise solution from the proposed approach provides a better result as compared to the existing approaches and conclusions are discussed for future research.

  • The objective of this study was carried to compare the effects of different packaging and loading materials and types on the cold storage of onions. The research was conducted for over a period of six months. Onions were divided into three groups based on the packaging materials and types: mesh bag (control), ton bag (TB), and wire mesh pallet (WMP). Parameters such as moisture content (%), total soluble solids (ºBrix), Hunter-color value, rotting rate (%), and hardness (g/force) were measured and analyzed. The results of the experiment demonstrated that there was no significant differences in onions' quality between TB and WMP and the control, respectively. This study showed that TB and WMP can be used as an alternative to controls to extend the storage-life of onions and keeping quality during long-term cold storage. Furthermore, WMP packing and loading type could be replaced to conventional storage method with better efficiency in logistics of smart APC (agricultural product processing center).
