무요소법을 이용한 보와 판의 효과적인 해석 (Effective Analysis of Beams and Plates using the RKPM)

  • In this paper, RKPM is extended for solving moderately thick and thin structures. General Timoshenko beam and Mindlin plate theory are used far formulation. Shear locking is the main difficulty in analysis of these kinds of structures. Shear relaxation factor, which is formulated using the difference between bending and shear strain energy, is introduced to overcome shear locking. Analysis results obtained reveal that RKPM using introduced method is free of locking and very effectively applicable to deeply as well as shallowly beams and plates.

  • 본 논문에서는 전압 제어 특성을 이용하여 광대역에서 사용 가능한 주입 동기 발진기를 제안하였다. 주입 동기 발진기의 공진 회로에 바렉터 다이오드를 포함시켜 다이오드의 바이어스 전압을 제어하여 자유 발진 주파수를 가변 가능하도록 하였으며, 이를 통해 주입 동기 신호의 입력 레벨이 낮더라도 광대역에서 동작이 가능하도록 하였다. 제안된 주입 동기 발진기는 0.8 mm 두께를 갖는 FR-4 기판을 사용하여 제작되었으며, 0~5 V의 제어 전압을 주어졌을 때, 자유 발진 주파수는 2.39~2.52 GHz로 가변이 가능하였다. 주파수 고정시 -10 dBm의 입력 신호 레벨에서 주파수 동기 범위가 50 MHz 이상이며, 주파수 가변을 통해 -30 dBm의 낮은 주입 신호레벨에서 90 MHz의 주파수 동기 범위를 얻을 수 있었다.

Bending Analysis of Mindlin-Reissner Plates by the Element Free Galerkin Method with Penalty Technique

  • In this work, a new penalty formulation is proposed for the analysis of Mindlin-Reissner plates by using the element-free Galerkin method. A penalized weak form for the Mindlin-Reissner Plates is constructed through the exterior penalty method to enforce the essential boundary conditions of rotations as well as transverse displacements. In the numerical examples, some typical problems of Mindlin-Reissner plates are analyzed, and parametric studies on the order of integration and the size of influence domain are also carried out. The effect of the types of background cells on the accuracy of numerical solutions is observed and a proper type of background cell for obtaining optimal accuracy is suggested. Further, optimal order of integration and basis order of Moving Least Squares approximation are suggested to efficiently handle the irregularly distributed nodes through the triangular type of background cells. From the numerical tests, it is identified that unlike the finite element method, the proposed element-free Galerkin method with penalty technique gives highly accurate solution without shear locking in dealing with Mindlin-Reissner plates.

An assumed-stress finite element for static and free vibration analysis of Reissner-Mindlin plates

  • An assumed stress quadrilateral thin/moderately thick plate element HQP4 based on the Mindlin/Reissner plate theory is proposed. The formulation is based on Hellinger-Reissner variational principle. Static and free vibration analyses of plates are carried out. Numerical examples are presented to show that the validity and efficiency of the present element for static and free vibration analysis of plates. Satisfactory accuracy for thin and moderately thick plates is obtained and it is free from shear locking for thin plate analysis.

  • In this paper, the frequency separation locking and interval stabilization of 4-channel DFB-LDs have been demonstrated using a fiber Fabry-Perot filter with an free spectral range of 100GHz. Frequency fluctuation and locking range of each channel were appeared to be within 15MHz and over 12GHz, respectively. Back-reflection curve from the fiber Fabry-Perot filter was used for the extraction of an error signal in order to increase the number of accomodable channels and extinction ratio.

A high precision shear flexible element for bending analysis of thick/thin triangular plate

  • A high precision shear deformable triangular element has been proposed for bending analysis of triangular plate. The element has twelve nodes at the three sides and four nodes inside the element. Initially the element has thirty-five degrees of freedom, which has been reduced to thirty by eliminating the degrees of freedom of the internal nodes through static condensation. Plates having different boundary conditions, side ratios (b/a) and thickness ratios (h/a = 0.001, 0.1 and 0.2) have been analyzed using the proposed shear locking free element. Concentrated and uniformly distributed transverse loads have been used for the analysis. The formulation is made based on first order shear deformation theory. For validation of the present element and formulation few results of thin triangular plate have been compared with the analytical solutions. Results for thick plate have been presented as new results.

Ultralow Intensity Noise Pulse Train from an All-fiber Nonlinear Amplifying Loop Mirror-based Femtosecond Laser

  • A robust all-fiber nonlinear amplifying loop-mirror-based mode-locked femtosecond laser is demonstrated. Power-dependent nonlinear phase shift in a Sagnac loop enables stable and power-efficient mode-locking working as an artificial saturable absorber. The pump power is adjusted to achieve the lowest intensity noise for stable long-term operation. The minimum pump power for mode-locking is 180 mW, and the optimal pump power is 300 mW. The lowest integrated root-mean-square relative intensity noise of a free-running mode-locked laser is 0.009% [integration bandwidth: 1 Hz-10 MHz]. The long-term repetition-rate instability of a free-running mode-locked laser is 10-7 over 1,000 s averaging time. The repetition-rate phase noise scaled at 10-GHz carrier is -122 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz Fourier frequency. The demonstrated method can be applied as a seed source in high-precision real-time mid-infrared molecular spectroscopy.

  • The paper is concerned with the elasto-plastic and geometrically nonlinear analysis of shell structures using an improved degenerated shell element. In the formulation of the improved degenerated shell element, an enhanced interpolation of transverse shear strains in the natural coordinate system is used to overcome the shear locking problems; the reduced integration technique in in-plane strains is applied to avoid membrane locking behavior; selective addition the nonconforming displacement modes improve the element performances. This element is free of serious locking problems and undesirable compatible or commutable spurious kinematic deformation modes and passes the patch tests. An incremental total Lagrangian formulation is presented which allows the calculation of arbitrarily large displacements and rotations. The resulting nonlinear equations are solved by the Newton-Raphson solution scheme. The versatility and accuracy of this improved degenerated shell element are demonstrated by solving several numerical examples.

  • In the vibration analysis of Timoshenko beams by the finite element method, it is necessary to use a large number of elements or higher-order elements in modeling thin beams. This is because the overestimated stiffness matrix due to the shear locking phenomenon when lower-order displacement-based elements are used yields poor eigensolutions. As a result, the total number of degrees of freedom becomes critical in view of computational efficiency. In this paper, the curvature-based formulation is applied to the vibration problem. It is shown that the curvaturebased beam elements are free of shear locking and very efficient in the vibration analysis.
