A NUMERICAL METHOD FOR THE PROBLEM OF COEFFICIENT IDENTIFICATION OF THE WAVE EQUATION BASED ON A LOCAL OBSERVATION ON THE BOUNDARY

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a numerical algorithm for the problem of coefficient identification of the scalar wave equation based on a local observation on the boundary: Determine the unknown coefficient function with the knowledge of simultaneous Dirichlet and Neumann boundary values on a part of boundary. To find the unknown coefficient function, the unknown Neumann boundary value is also identified. We recast our inverse problem to variational problem. The gradient method is applied to find the minimizing functions. We confirm the effectiveness of our algorithm by numerical experiments.

비디오 영상 자료를 이용한 연안 국지파랑 관측기술과 그 활용에 대한 고찰 (Review of Video Imaging Technology in Coastal Wave Observations and Suggestion for Its Applications)

  • The wave observation system in Korea has been established with an emphasis on pointmeasurement based on in situ instrumentations. However, the system cannot fully investigate the coastal wave-related problems that are significantly localized and intensified with three-dimensional regional geometries. Observation technique that can cover local processes with large time and spatial variation needs to be established. Video imaging techniques that can provide continuous monitoring of coastal waves and related phenomena with high spatial and temporal resolutions at minimum cost of instrumentation risks are reviewed together with present status of implementation in Korea. Practical applications of the video imaging techniques are suggested to tackle with various coastal issues of public concern in Korea including, real-time monitoring of wave runup and overtopping of swells on the east coast of Korea, longshore and rip currents, morphological and bathymetric changes, storm surge and tsunami inundation, and abnormal extreme waves in the west coast of Korea, etc.

  • Gijang Sea is located on the southeastern coast of Korea. This study establishes a basic system to identify optimal sites for the wave power generation. To achieve this goal, the field measurements were made at the field site in front of Dong-am fishing port at Gijang. In addition, we analyzed the offshore wave data at the Donghae buoy operated by Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) and compared the data with the wave characteristics in Gijang Sea. The main results were as follows. In winter, the wave direction in Gijang Sea ranged between east and south($90{\sim}180^{\circ}$). The main wave direction was east($90^{\circ}$). The Significant wave heights and periods were under 2 m and $5{\sim}15$ sec, respectively. A comparison of water depth and wave direction constitutes one(condition) of the important parameters for selecting the optimal site for the wave power generation.

Phase and Amplitude Drift Research of Millimeter Wave Band Local Oscillator System

  • In this paper, we developed a local oscillator (LO) system of millimeter wave band receiver for radio astronomy observation. We measured the phase and amplitude drift stability of this LO system. The voltage control oscillator (VCO) of this LO system use the 3 mm band Gunn oscillator. We developed the digital phase locked loop (DPLL) module for the LO PLL function that can be computer-controlled. To verify the performance, we measured the output frequency/power and the phase/amplitude drift stability of the developed module and the commercial PLL module, respectively. We show the good performance of the LO system based on the developed PLL module from the measured data analysis. The test results and discussion will be useful tutorial reference to design the LO system for very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) receiver and single dish radio astronomy receiver at the 3 mm frequency band.

낙동강 하구역 해양물리환경에 미치는 영향인자 비교분석(II) - 춘계 국지 해양파랑과 기상인자 - (Correlation between Spring Weather Factors and Local Wind Waves in the Nakdong River Estuary, Korea)

  • 본 연구는 낙동강 하구 주변해역의 파랑 특성을 분석하기 위해 2007년 춘계(4월, 5월)에 낙동강 하구 중앙 해상 지점에서 관측된 파랑자료와 기상청에서 운영하고 있는 거제도 해양기상 부이에서 동일시점에 관측된 결과와 비교 검증하고 관측기간동안의 두 지점에서의 기상인자(기압, 기온, 풍속 및 풍향)와의 상관성을 비교하였다. 이상에서 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. (1) 2007년 춘계(4월과 5월)의 거제도 해양기상 부이 파랑 관측자료가 최대파고 약 3-4m, 유의파고 약 2m, 주기 약 5-8sec의 범위에 해당하는 반면에 낙동강 하구에서의 파랑 관측자료는 파고가 대체적으로 1m미만의 상태로 정온한 상태를 보이며 주기는 4-7sec의 범위를 가진다. (2) 춘계 파랑 관측자료에서 바람에 의한 파랑 감쇄가 없을 경우 거제도 해양기상 부이에서부터 천수 또는 굴절에 의한 파랑변형의 효과로 인해 낙동강 하구 중앙부까지 파랑이 전달되면서 최대파고값은 약 2.2m, 유의파고값은 약 1.3m정도 감소된다. (3) 낙동강 하구역으로 내습하는 해양파랑은 대상해역의 기상조건, 특히 바람의 영향(풍속 및 풍향)에 따라서 증감하는 것을 알 수 있는데, 특히 풍향이 역풍이 부는 경우 유의파고는 감소하는 경향을 나타내며 풍속이 클수록 그 감소 기울기도 더욱 커짐을 알 수 있다.

한반도 남동부에서의 Coda파 감쇠 (Attenuation of Coda Wave in the Southeastern Korea)

  • In order to know the characteristics of attenuation of coda wave in the Kyungsang Sedimetary Basin, quality faclity factor for coda wave (coda Q) is estimated from the earthquake data recorded in the KIGAM local seismic network. Thesingle scattering model for coda wave generation is adopted is adopted in estimating coda Q. In the present study, coda Q(Qc)is estimated in the range of $\alpha$=1.5~3.0, where $\alpha$ denotes the normalized time to S-wave travel time and expressed in terms of frequency (f). The deduced function in the range of 1 to 25 Hz is Qc=36.8283$f^{1.15095}$ which represents the strong dependence of coda Q on frequency. It is found that the difference of Qc between U-D, N-S, and E-W components is negligible. This fact suports the back scattering therory that coda wave originates from scattered waves by randomly distributed heterogenities in the crust On the other hand, it is observed that the coda Q increases with increasing epicentral distence. This observation suggests that QC increases with depth.

도심부와 교외지역의 장·단파 복사와 상관도 분석 (I) -대구지역의 동·하절기 장·단파 복사 관측과 해석 - (Long and Short Wave Radiation and Correlation Analysis Between Downtown and Suburban Area(I) - Observation of the Long and Short Wave Radiation in Summer and Winter Season of Daegu -)

  • The objective of this study was to compare and analyze for seasonal long short-wave radiation characteristics between downtown area and suburban area in Daegu through field observations. This study was confirmed the regional and seasonal radiation environments and it can utilize as basic data for the analysis of the urban radiation environment and the effects of urbanization. The followings are main results from this study. 1) The downward shortwave radiation showed the similar value of the radiation generally in the downtown area and the suburban area of the city during the winter and summer season. but, long-wave radiation is always higher in downtown area. 2) In case of the long-wave radiation at two stations, we observed $230{\sim}270W/m^2$ in the winter season and $415{\sim}470W/m^2$ in summer season. As a result, we can see summer season is higher than winter about two times in long-wave radiation. 3) In case of short wave radiation, there is high correlation between two stations in winter season but very low correlation between two stations in summer season because of local atmosphere unstability and etc.

  • We design the local oscillator system of the 100 GHz band radio receiving system for a cosmic radio observation. We use the YIG oscillator with digital driver which is the main oscillator. This oscillator has a good frequency and phase stability at some temperature variation, and the easy computer aided control characteristics. This total system designed to two subsystem, first is the oscillator system include YIG oscillator, tripler, harmonic mixer and triplexer etc., second is the PLL system to supply the precise and stable local oscillator frequency to mixer. The proposed local oscillator system in this paper can be use a single or multi pixel receiver because this system can be lock the local oscillator frequency automatically using PC.

소형 표류부이를 이용한 안목해안 표층 연안류 관측 (Surface current measurements using lagrangian Drifters in Anmok)

  • In this study, surface currents measured by small lagrangian GPS drifters (Aquadrifter) in Anmok coastal waters were analysed to account for the variability of nearshore surface current and wave-induced current to understand sediment transport mechanism near the crescentic bars in the surf-zone and near Kangneung breakwater and submerged breakwater in Anmok. The 8 times lagrangian drifter experiments were conducted mostly during in 2nd, 3rd, 4th intensive measurements in winter, summer, and spring seasons with long-term wave observation at the station W1. The analysed surface currents near the breakwaters in Anmok show that wave-induced currents at the middle of the submerged breakwater were separated and flowed toward the shoreline but offshore currents were dominant through the channels between the breakwaters. The longshore currents near the shoreline were flowed to the northwest (southeast) depending on the incoming waves from ENE (NNE). The surface nearshore offshore currents were generated mostly by waves and winds in case of high and low wave energy environments. Using the small-size lagrangian surface drifter experiments, we successfully measured longshore and offshore wave-induced currents in the surf-zone and near submerged breakwater close to Kangneung breakwater. The drifter experiment results show the availability of direct observation of nearshore surface currents to understand the mechanism of sediment transport analysing observed wave-induced current and ebb-current in the surf-zone generated by incoming waves and local winds.

무인해상자율로봇(Wave Glider)을 이용한 해양관측 현황 (Status of Ocean Observation using Wave Glider)

  • 해양을 관측하는 작업 중에서 무인자율수상체계를 활용한 관측은 장거리 원거리 이동하여 해양재난, 재해 발생 해역 관측 및 악천우에서도 관측이 가능해졌다. 그리고 제한된 관측 영역 외 광역의 해역에서 발생한 현상을 연계하여 종합적으로 분석하는 융합기술들이 개발되고 있다. Wave Glider는 대표적인 무인자율수상체계 중 하나로, 파도에 의한 상하 움직임으로 전진하며 장거리 기동이 가능하고 위성통신을 통하여 자율적으로 이동하는 이동형 부이체계로 기존 관측의 한계를 극복하는 차세대 관측체계로 부각되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2016년과 2017년 두 차례 중국 기원 저염분수 영향이 발생하는 하계에 제주를 포함하는 동중국해에서 관측을 수행하였다. 하계 동중국해 해역에서 발생한 고수온 현상과 저염분수와의 관계를 파악하기 위해서 광역(위성) 감시망과 국지적(Wave Glider) 감시망을 이용하여 관측을 수행했다. 그리고 동중국해에 영향을 준 태풍 또한 두 감시망에서 실시간 영향을 관측했다. 이것은 최근 개발되는 무인수상체계가 높은 내구성과 자율무인 체계로 인하여 다양한 해양환경에서 장기간 관측이 가능해지면서 다른 감시망과 연동하여 종합적이고 효율적인 관측체계를 구축하게 되었다.
