  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the keywords of the middle school textbooks based on the 2015 revision of the technology and home economics curriculum to understand the core concepts and contents composition of the 'housing' unit. Using TEXTOM and UCINET programs, the frequencies and centralities of the keywords were analyzed, and CONCOR analysis was performed. The results are as follows. First, the content system of the 'housing' unit is divided into 'life culture' and 'safety' in the 'family life and safety' area. Second, in the 'safety' section, the frequencies of occurrence of the words were high in the order of indoor, occurrence, use, noise, and safety accidents, in the order of frequency of occurrence. It was confirmed that words related to daily life, safety accidents, and prevention were closely connected to each other. In the 'life culture' section, the frequencies of occurrence were high in the order of space, housing, family, and residential space, and the correlations between these keywords were also high. Third, the most influential core keywords were, indoor and occurrence in the 'safety' section, and space, family, and housing, in the 'life culture' section. Fourth, the 'safety' section were divided into two subunits, 'safe living environment' and 'comfortable living environment', and the 'life culture' section were divided into four subunits, 'living space composition', 'space utilization', 'housing value and lifestyle', and 'housing culture'.

  • Noise and vibration induced by subway operation are one of the major factor which annoy residents living near railway tracks. While lateral vibration is a major factor in analyzing seismic effect of the structure, vertical vibration became a major concern in considering the subway induced vibration because relatively smaller energy affects only nearby areas than that of earthquake. A characteristics of structural response induced by subway operation has been studied with different total height of the building and different number of spans. Also the frame with different span length has been studied. As the numbers of degrees freedom increase the higher mode effect on vertical vibration increases. Accordingly, the total affecting vertical modes are distributive as the numbers of degrees of freedom increase. Though the total degree of freedom increases, only some of the dominant modes actively affects to the vertical response of the structure. A frame with the number of equal spans could be analyzed by replacing the whole frame as one when we want to predict the response of the vertical vibration. Also it has been found that the seperate frame analysis will give little different result when adjacent span is relatively longer than others.

  • To support the expansion of the autonomous robot market, the establishment of evaluation standards of the robot performance are essential. In this paper, to venture the standardization of the performance evaluation of the autonomous robot, the authors take the autonomous cleaning robot(ACR) as the initial stepping stone. Recently, the ACR has been being developed and marketed actively in many countries including Korea and it believes to be the fore-runner among various types of autonomous robot products. Standards of the performance evaluation for the ACR could be easily modified and applied to other autonomous robots. This paper formulates and suggests a group of standards for the performance evaluation based on a evaluation platform for the ACR. The newly developed performance evaluation platform has been designed to include all the important aspects of living environments in reality. In the platform the performance of the ACR is measured in terms of mobility, cleaning performance, avoidance of obstruction(safety), and operation noise. A few commercially available ACR products are collected and tested in the evaluation platform and compared against the performance evaluation standards formulated.

  • These days, the researches related with the emotional robots are actively investigated and in progress. And human language, expression, action etc. are merged in the emotional robot to understand the human emotion. However, there are so many sound sources and background noise around the robot, that the robots should be able to separate the mixture of these sound sources into the original sound sources, moreover to understand the meaning of voice of a specific person. Also they should be able to turn or move to the direction of a specific person to observe his expression or action effectively. Until now, the researches on the localization and separation of sound sources have been so theoretical and computative that real-time processing is hardly possible. In this reason for the practical emotional robot, fast computation should be realized by using simple principle. In this paper the methods for detecting the direction of sound sources by using the phase difference between peaks on spectrums, and the separating the sound sources by using fundamental frequency and its overtones of human voice, are proposed. Also by using these methods, it is shown that the effective and real-time localization and separation of sound sources in living room are possible.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the present status of life style and housing demands of residents in Yoing-in and Kwang-Ju in Kyung-Ki province, Korea. Field study methods were carried out practically using participant observation method and open-ended interview method, and the data were gotten by sketch, recording, photograph and memo. As a result, the followings were proposed. First, it was necessary to hide or reduce of the neighborhood's noise or direct view because those people thought the invasion of the privacy problem was very severe. The master planning of the complex method could be an alternative plan for this kind of problems. Second, it was needed to be the planning that could follow up the out-door friendly situations. To achieve this, the in between living space are needed that connected the outside and inside of the house. Third, the planning of the housing space should flexible for each participant's needs of the future. To achieve this, each unit in the suburban housing complexes should be fixed to the each character of the people's various needs.

  • Noise and vibration induced by subway operation are one of the major factor that annoy residents living near the subway tracks. In general, lateral vibration is the major concern when we are considering vibration of a building. However, the vertical vibration is the major concern in considering the vibration induced by the subway operation. Analysis model for the vertical vibration of the structure should consider the effect of beam vibration. Thus, the same model used for the lateral vibration analysis can not be used for an analysis of vertical vibration of the structure. Appropriate analysis model which can consider the inertia force of the beam is necessary when analyzing a structure for the vertical vibration. Modeling technique for the vertical vibration analysis of structures has been studied on this paper. It is recommended to use one or more elements for columns and to use two or more elements for beams when analyzing structures for vertical vibration induced by subway operation.

  • Ports play a key role in international trade, as integral hubs where passengers and cargoes are loaded, discharged, and transshipped. However, the function of ports is becoming more diversified, expanding on roles as industrial clusters, as well as logistical centers. Such roles combined, reap numerous and significant benefits, mainly with growth of jobs and wealth creation, for the local population living in the city, and beyond. Citizens' awareness of the function and value of ports may not be positive, because of a range of negative factors such as emissions, noise, and road congestion, which can influence their perception. This study's contribution focuses on empirically evaluating the perception of Busan citizens of the local port, by applying Q methodology. The links connecting the port-city and local population, are assessed by identifying: 1) The level of awareness of the Busan citizens of the port; 2) Factors perceived as positive as well as factors perceived as negative by Busan citizens. There are four main factors, derived from the analysis: 1) Port functional knowledge; 2) Lack of social connectedness port-city; 3) Environmentally concerned and; 4) Absent port's ripple's effect. Policy recommendations suggest focusing on improving citizens' perception of the port, for each of the four main factors derived from the analysis.

  • The recent prosthetic technologies pursue to control multi-DOFs (degrees-of-freedom) hand and wrist. However, challenges such as high cost, wear-ability, and motion intent recognition for feedback control still remain for the use in daily living activities. The paper proposes a multi-channel knit band sensor to worn easily for surface EMG-based prosthetic control. The knitted electrodes were fabricated with conductive yarn, and the band except the electrodes are knitted using non-conductive yarn which has moisture wicking property. Two types of the knit bands are fabricated such as sixteen-electrodes for eight-channels and thirty-two electrodes for sixteen-channels. In order to substantiate the performance of the biopotential signal acquisition, several experiments are conducted. Signal to noise ratio (SNR) value of the knit band sensor was 18.48 dB. According to various forearm motions including hand and wrist, sixteen-channels EMG signals could be clearly distinguishable. In addition, the pattern recognition performance to control myoelectric prosthesis was verified in that overall classification accuracy of the RMS (root mean squares) filtered EMG signals (97.84%) was higher than that of the raw EMG signals (87.06%).
