Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between dietary pattern and the Community Periodontal Index in elderly people who live alone in rural areas and to provide necessary data to strengthen nutrition education about the oral health of elderly people who live alone. Methods : Dental examinations and questionnaires were conducted with 380 elderly people who live alone in rural areas of Gyeonggi-do. Results : The Community Periodontal Index was higher when the elderly people who live alone had a low intake of vegetables and fruits, a high intake of sugars, a low number of breakfasts, a high frequency of overeating and a high frequency of instant ingestion. Conclusions : It is necessary to provide nutritional management services for the elderly people who live alone in rural areas and to provide preventive centered comprehensive oral care.

With the advance of ICT technology, E-Commerce is getting popular and used widely in daily life. Nowaday's commercial videos are also being used extensively to introduce commercial products to consumers. Most commercial companies are advertising their products on the internet with images and videos through online sharing sites. Putting pre-recorded videos online is easy, but it is difficult for sellers to interact with customers. Live Streaming is the transmission of digital content directly to the Internet in real time. Although there are many services available that provide live streaming on the internet, most are limited in the content they transmit. Building live streaming servers using open source projects will help users master the content which conveys to their customers. In this paper, we will consider implementation of Live Streaming Server for Video Commerce using Open Source.

Vaccination has been considered to be the most effective way to control infectious diseases. Currently, many vaccines used in humans are live-attenuated or killed microorganisms. Polio, mumps, and measles vaccines are live-attenuated. Killed vaccines include cholera and pertussis vaccines, These conventional vaccines, however, suffer from some problems. In the case of live-attenuated vaccines, reversion to virulence is observed in a small but significant number of clinical cases each year. In killed vaccines, due to the possible hazard to employees working with live pathogens, the cost of preparation is high. Killed vaccines also need to be given in multiple doses, Furthermore, both live-attenuated and killed vaccines have possible presence of cellular materials leading to side effects. Moreover, there are diseases such as malaria and hepatitis for which conventional attenuated and killed vaccines are not available because the pathogens cannot be grown in sufficient amounts to allow the classical methods to be used.

Local protein synthesis mediates precise spatio-temporal regulation of gene expression for neuronal functions such as long-term plasticity, axon guidance and regeneration. To reveal the underlying mechanisms of local translation, it is crucial to understand mRNA transport, localization and translation in live neurons. Among various techniques for mRNA analysis, fluorescence microscopy has been widely used as the most direct method to study localization of mRNA. Live-cell imaging of single RNA molecules is particularly advantageous to dissect the highly heterogeneous and dynamic nature of messenger ribonucleoprotein (mRNP) complexes in neurons. Here, we review recent advances in the study of mRNA localization and translation in live neurons using novel techniques for single-RNA imaging.

Scientific research regarding the use of live bacterial cells for therapeutic purposes has been rapidly growing over the years and has generated considerable interest to scientists and health professionals. Probiotics are defined as essential live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host. Owing to their considerable beneficial health effects, these microorganisms are increasingly incorporated into dairy products; however, many reports have demonstrated their poor survival and stability. Their survival in the gastrointestinal tract is also questionable. To overcome these problems, microencapsulation techniques are currently receiving considerable attention. This review describes the importance of live probiotic bacterial microencapsulation using an alginate microparticulate system and presents the potentiality of various coating polymers such as chitosan and polylysine for improving the stability of this microencapsulation.

In the last few years, a new type of synchronous social networking services (SNSs) has emerged—social live streaming services (SLSSs). Studying SLSSs is a new and exciting research field in information science. What information behaviors do users of live streaming platforms exhibit? In our empirical study we analyzed information production behavior (i.e., broadcasting) as well as information reception behavior (watching streams and commenting on them). We conducted two quantitative investigations, namely an online survey with YouNow users (N = 123) and observations of live streams on YouNow (N = 434). YouNow is a service with video streams mostly made by adolescents for adolescents. YouNow users like to watch streams, to chat while watching, and to reward performers by using emoticons. While broadcasting, there is no anonymity (as in nearly all other WWW services). Synchronous SNSs remind us of the film The Truman Show, as anyone has the chance to consciously broadcast his or her own life real-time.

This study was performed to verify the effect of modified live virus vaccine against canine parvovirus (CPV) infection. Serum hemagglutination inhibition (Hl) test, histopathological and immunohistochemical techniques and polymerase chain reaction were used. The results were as follows: 1. During the experimental terms after vaccination, serum Hl titer was stable. Geometric mean titer (GMT) after the 1st vaccination was 280. After virulent CPV was challenged, GMT was 1,306. 2. After challenge by virulent CPV, the vaccinated group was not shown clinical signs and gross and histopathological findings. 3. After challenge by virulent CPV, the vaccinated group was not detected viral antigens in the small intestine immunohistochemically. 4. After challenge by violent CPV, the vaccinated group was not shown virus shedding in feces. In conclusions the overall results confirmed that modified live virus vaccine was effective on prevention of canine parvovirus infection.

Based on the integrated analysis of the existing literature, this study combined with S-O-R model to explore the impact of e-commerce live broadcast characteristics on consumers' impulse purchase intention. Among them, interactive, entertaining, economical and visual features are selected as the features of e-commerce live broadcast; Select pleasure and arousal to measure consumer sentiment, and build a theoretical model among e-commerce live broadcast features, consumer sentiment and consumers' impulsive purchase intention to specifically explore the impact of each feature on emotion and the further impact of emotion on impulsive purchase intention.

It needs to control each objects on various platform and transmit multimedia data to multiple receivers which are for developing a multimedia service with multimedia live streaming in a distributed environment. In this paper, we present a DLS (Distributed Live Streaming) package which support l:N multimedia live streaming in a distributed environment. Also, it has extended RMI which is a distributed object technology and JMF using multimedia transmission/processing. A java-based DLS package has been designed to separate a transmission and a control for more efficient distributed processing. It is possible to apply in development of multimedia service supported 1:N transmission and runned independently to any platform.

Proteolytic activity of live Uronema manum was analyzed by fluorescence polarization (FP) technique. Protease activity was measured by a decrease in FP value using fluorescein isothiocynate (FITC)-casein as a protein substrate. The results demonstrated an inverse linear relationship between fluorescence polarization (FP) values and live ciliate concentration over the range $1\times10^4\;to\;2\times10^5$ cells/well. However, the FP values of $10-10^3$ live parasites were not different significantly from that of control. Time-dependent decrease in FP value was shown in the wells containing live U. marinum. In the present study, FP assay had the benefit to provide measurements of substrate hydrolysis by live parasites in real-time, and did not require separations, precipitations, or transfers of reaction mixture.
