  • In this paper, a fast and efficient signal reconstruction algorithm for solving the basis pursuit (BP) problem in compressed sensing (CS) is proposed. This fast linearized Bregman method (FLBM), which is inspired by the fast method of Beck et al., is based on the fact that the linearized Bregman method (LBM) is equivalent to a gradient descent method when applied to a certain formulation. The LBM requires $O(1/{\varepsilon})$ iterations to obtain an ${\varepsilon}$-optimal solution while the FLBM reduces this iteration complexity to $O(1/\sqrt{\varepsilon})$ and requiring almost the same computational effort on each iteration. Our experimental results show that the FLBM can be faster than some other existing signal reconstruction methods.

  • A linearized finite-difference scheme is used to transform the initial/boundary-value problem associated with the nonlinear Schrodinger equation into a linear algebraic system. This method is developed by replacing the time and the nonlinear term by an appropriate parametric linearized scheme based on Taylor’s expansion. The resulting finite-difference method is analysed for stability and convergence. The results of a number of numerical experiments for the single-soliton wave are given.

  • In this study, the main focus is the simulation of acoustic wave scattering in trailing edge and the analysis of the generation mechanism of instability wave by the interaction of trailing edge, shear flow and initial disturbance. The numerical algorithm is based on CFD/CAA hybrid method with high-order computational aeroacoustic method. It is found that steady mean flow gradient terms play a crucial role on the generation of instability wave through the comparison of simulations of Simple Linearized Euler Equation and Full Linearized Euler Equation. Through the comparison with the results of Full Navier-Stokes Equation, it is reasonable and efficient to use the Full Linearized Euler Equation in the initial generation mechanism of the instability wave near the trailing edge.

  • The linearized polynomial fan be regarded as a generalization of the identity function so that the inverse of the linearized polynomial is a generalization of e inverse function. Since the inverse function has so many good cryptographic properties, the inverse of the linearized polynomial is also a candidate of good Boolean functions. In particular, a construction method of vector resilient functions with high algebraic degree was proposed at Crypto 2001. But the analysis about the algebraic degree of the inverse of the linearized Polynomial. Hence we correct the inexact result and give the exact maximal algebraic degree.

  • In this paper we compare the solution of the one-dimensional beam model and the numerical solution of the two-dimensional linearized elasticity problem for rectangular domain of the beam-like form. We first derive the beam model starting from the two-dimensional linearized elasticity, the same way it is derived from the three-dimensional linearized elasticity. Then we present the numerical solution of the two-dimensional problem by finite element method. As expected the difference of two approximations becomes smaller as the thickness of the beam tends to zero. We then analyze the applicability of the one-dimensional model and verify the main properties of the beam modeling for thin beams.

  • Sound scattering in 3D complex geometry is difficult to model with body-fitted grid. Thus Brinkman Penalization method is used to compute sound scattering in 3D complex geometry. Sound propagation of monitor/TV is studied. The sound field for monitor/TV is simulated by applying Brinkman Penalization method to Linearized Euler Equation. Solid Structure and ambient air are represented as penalty terms in Linearized Euler Equation.

  • A controller design method for a battery-energy storage system using a linearized battery model is presented in this paper. The suggested linear battery model is expressed with open-circuit voltage having three relaxation filters and a linear output equation. A method to obtain on-line resistance and maximum available power is also presented. The battery state of charge information is obtained by Kalman filter, and its performance is verified by FTP75 driving cycles. The controller for power converter is designed and experimented with a 250 V battery pack. The proposed control method is simple and easy to apply to a real system.

  • This work presents an automated transistor biasing scheme for analog integrated circuits. In order to effectively bias the transistor at a desired operating point, the proposed method uses a linearized transistor circuit model along with the curve fitted expressions obtained from the pre-simulated I-V characteristics of the actual transistor. As a result, the transistor size that leads to the desired operating point can be easily determined without heavily relying on the circuit simulator, which will lead to significant design time reduction. Furthermore, the proposed method is applied to an actual amplifier circuit where the design time based on the proposed biasing method showed 10× faster than the conventional design approach using the circuit simulator.

  • A parametric scheme is proposed for the numerical solution of the nonlinear Boussinesq equation. The numerical method is developed by approximating the time and the space partical derivatives by finite-difference re placements and the nonlinear term by an appropriate linearized scheme. The resulting finite-difference method is analyzed for local truncation error and stability. The results of a number of numerical experiments are given for both the single and the double-soliton wave. AMS Mathematics Subject Classification : 65J15, 47H17, 49D15.

  • Vibration of a non-linear system under random parametric excitations was evaluated by probabilistic methods. The non-linear characteristic terms of a system structure were quasi-linearized and excitation terms were remained as they were An analytical method where the square mean of error was minimized was used An alternative method was an energy method where the damping energy and restoring energy of the linearized system were equalized to those of the original non-linear system. The numerical results were compared with those obtained by Monte Carlo simulation. The comparison showed the results obtained by Monte Carlo simulation located between those by the analytical method and those by the energy method.
