Delamination of non-linear viscoelastic beams under bending in the plane of layers

  • This paper deals with delamination analysis of non-linear viscoelastic multilayered beam subjected to bending in the plane of the layers. For this purpose, first, a non-linear viscoelastic model is presented. In order to take into account the non-linear viscoelastic behaviour, a non-linear spring and a non-linear dashpot are assembled in series with a linear spring connected in parallel to a linear dashpot. The behaviours of the non-linear spring and dashpot are described by applying non-linear stress-strain and stress-rate of strain relationships, respectively. The constitutive law of the model is derived. Due to the non-linear spring and dashpot, the constitutive law is non-linear. This law is used for describing the time-dependent mechanical behaviour of the beam under consideration. The material properties involved in the constitutive law vary along the beam length due to the continuous material inhomogeneity of the layers. Solution of the strain energy release rate for the delamination is obtained by analyzing the balance of the energy with considering of the non-linear viscoelastic behaviour. The strain energy release rate is found also by using the complementary strain energy for verification. A parametric study is carried-out by using the solution obtained. The solutions derived and the results obtained help to understand the time-dependent delamination of non-linear viscoelastic beams under loading in the plane of layers.

Correction of Coordinate Discontinuities Caused by GPS Antenna Replacements

  • Antennas at permanent GPS stations operated by the former Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs (MOGAHA) in Korea were replaced in years 2008 and 2009, and these changes caused abrupt discontinuities in precise coordinate time series. In this study, an algorithm that eliminates those breaks was developed based on 15-year-long coordinate time series for the purpose of creating clean and continuous coordinate time series. The newly developed algorithm to correct for sudden jumps and dips in the GPS time series due to the antenna change was designed to consider all the linear and annual signals observed before and after the event. The accuracy of the new algorithm was confirmed to be at the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) level of 2.3-2.6 mm. The new algorithm was also found to be capable of reflect site-specific characteristics at each station.

Time Series Simulation of Explosive Charges In Shallow Water Using Ray Approach

  • A time series simulation is presented by a ray approach for the simulating the received waveform of a broadband acoustical signals interacting with the ocean boundaries. The environment is assumed to be horizontally stratified, and the seafloor is described in terms of homogeneous fluid half-space. The ray approach includes the effects of reflection from the air-water, water-sediment interface and phase shifts due to boundaries interaction. To generate time series, we assume that the acoustic energy propagates from source to receiver along eigenrays and represent the action of the bottom on the incident wave by a linear filter and characterized in the frequency domain by the transfer function. As example application, the time series for an explosive source in a shallow water environment is calculated and analyzed in terms of acoustical process. good agreement with measured time series is demonstrated.

월쉬 금수 전개에 의한 분포정수계의 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on Analysis of Distributed Parameter Systems via Walsh Series Expansions)

  • This paper describes two methods for analyzing distributed parameter systems (DPS) via Walsh series expansions. Firstly, a Walsh-Galerkin expansion approach technique (WGA) introduced by S.G. Tzafestas. is considered. The method which is based on Galerkin scheme, is well established by using Walsh series. But then, there are some difficulty in finding the proper basic functions at each systems. Secondly, a double Walsh series approach technique (DWA) is developed. The essential feature of DWA propoesed here is that it reduces the analysis problem of DPS to that of solving a set of linear algebraic equation which is extended in double Walsh series.

  • This paper proposes a Taylor-series design method which reduces the height error of the tag when readers are arranged at the same height in 3-dimensional space. The proposed method consists of two steps. Firstly, the planar position is estimated by the Taylor-series method using the TDOA measurement. Next, the height is estimated from the estimated planar position. In order to show the validity of the proposed method, computer simulations were performed for the static case and linear trajectory of the tag. Results show that the proposed method gives convergent estimated position and better height estimate than the Taylor series method.

Determinacy on a Maximum Resolution in Wavelet Series

  • Recently, an approximation of a wavelet series has been developed in the analyses of an unknown function. Most of articles have been studied on thresholding and shrinkage methods for its wavelet coefficients based on (non)parametric and Bayesian methods when the sample size is considered as a maximum resolution in wavelet series. In this paper, regardless of the sample size, we are focusing only on the choice of a maximum resolution in wavelet series. We propose a Bayesian approach to the choice of a maximum resolution based on the linear combination of the wavelet basis functions.

비선형 진동절연 시스템의 근사적 응답을 구하는 방법 (Methods to Obtain Approximate Responses of a Non-Linear Vibration Isolation System)

  • A non-linear vibration isolation system composed of a non-linear spring and a linear damper was presented in a previous study. The advantage of the proposed isolator is the simple structure of the system. When the base of the isolator is harmonically excited, the response component of the mass at the excitation frequency was approximated using three different methods: linear approximation, harmonic balance, and higher-order frequency response functions (FRFs). The method using higher-order FRFs produces significantly more accurate results compared with the other methods. The error between the exact and approximate responses does not increase monotonously with the excitation amplitude and is less than 2%.

  • 본 논문에서는 직렬 복합 트랜지스터를 이용한 저전압 선형 가변 트랜스컨덕터를 설계하였다. 직렬 복합트랜지스터는 포화 영역에서 동작하는 트랜지스터와 선형 영역에서 동작하는 트랜지스터가 직렬 연결된 구조로 낮은 공급 전압에서도 넓은 입력 전압 범위를 갖는다. 설계된 트랜스컨덕터는 $0.25{\mu}m$ CMOS n-well 공정 파라미터를 이용하여 HSPICE로 시뮬레이션한 결과 차단주파수는 309MHz 이고, 입력 신호 주파수가 10MHz일 때 1.5VP-P의 차동 입력에 대해 1.1%이하의 THD 특성을 갖는다.

자기상관함수의 비선형 유추 해석 (Nonlinear Analog of Autocorrelation Function)

  • 자기상관함수는 수문시계열의 선형상관 관계를 나타내는 척도롤 널리 이용되고 있다. 그러나 비선형 동역학에서 필수적인 지체시간 또는 무상관시간 $\tau$d를 산정하는데는 적합하지 않을수도 있기 때문에 비선형 상관관계의 척도로 상호정보이론이 추천되어 왔다. 최근에 일부 학자들은 카오스 동역학 분석을 위하여 지체신간 $\tau$d대신에 상태 공간상에 구축된 각 상태 벡타점 성분들의 총시간을 표시하는 지체시간창을 제안하였다. 그러나 지체신간창은 자기상관함수나 상호정보이론에 의해 추정될 수 없다. 기본적으로 지체신간창은 시계열 자료의 상관관계가 가장 작을 최적시간이며 지체시간은 국지적인 최소값 중 첫 번째의 최적시간이다. 본 연구에서는 수문시계열의 지체시간과 지체사간창을 구하기 위하여 C-C밥법이라는 기법을 이용하고, 여기에서 산정된 값들을 근거로 수문시계열의 모형화와 예측에 중요한 선형 또는 비선형 종속성을 파악하고자 한다.

일 유량 자료의 카오스 특성 및 예측 (Analysis of Chaos Characterization and Forecasting of Daily Streamflow)

  • 현재까지 많은 수문 시계열은 전통적인 선형 모형을 이용하여 분석되고 예측되어 왔다. 하지만, 자연현상과 수문시계열의 패턴 및 변동과 관련하여 비선형적 구조의 증거가 발견되고 있다. 따라서 시계열 분석 및 예측을 위한 기존의 선형 모형은 비선형적 특성에 적합하지 않을 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 미국 플로리다 코코아 지역 인근에 있는 St.Johns 강의 일유량 자료에 대한 카오스 분석을 수행하였고, 그 결과 낮은 차원의 비선형 동역학적 특성을 가진 흥미로운 결과가 나타났지만 한국의 소양강댐 일유량 자료는 확률적 특성을 보여주었다. 카오스 특성을 토대로한 DVS(결정론적 vs 추계학적) 알고리즘을 이용해 두 시계열 시스템의 특성을 파악하였고 단기 예측을 수행하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 일 유량 시계열 예측을 위해 인공신경망 방법을 사용하였고, DVS 알고리즘에 의한 예측을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 카오스 특성을 갖는 시계열 자료가 보다 정확한 예측성을 보였다.
