Emission Characteristics of White PHOLEDs with Different Emitting Layer Structures (발광층 구조에 따른 백색 인광 OLED의 발광 특성)

  • We studied the emission characteristics of white phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (PHOLEDs), which were fabricated using a two-wavelength method. To optimize emission characteristics of white PHOLEDs, white PHOLEDs with red/blue, blue/red and red/blue/red emitting layer (EML) structures were fabricated using a host-dopant system. In case of white PHOLEDs with red/blue structure, the best efficiency was obtained at a structure of red (15 nm)/blue (15 nm). But the emission color was blue-shifted white. In case of white PHOLEDs with blue/red structure, the better color purity and efficiency were observed at a blue (29 nm)/red (1 nm) structure. For additional improvement of color purity in white PHOLEDs with blue (29 nm)/red (1 nm) EMLs, we fabricated white PHOLEDs with red (1 nm)/blue (28 nm)/red (1 nm) structure. The current efficiency, external quantum efficiency, and CIE (x, y) coordinate were 27.2 cd/A, 15.1%, and (0.382, 0.369) at 1,000 $cd/m^2$, respectively.

  • Effects of thin ZnO/Mg interlayers on electrical and optical properties between p-GaN and ITO were characterized for its application to GaN-LEDs. The ZnO and Mg layers were deposited to have various thicknesses (1${\sim}$6nm for ZnO and 1${\sim}$2nm for Mg) by sputtering. After RTA process, the atomic migration between Mg and ZnO and the formation of Ga vacancy were observed from SIMS depth profile, resulting in the increase of hole concentration and the reduction of band bending at the surface region of p-GaN. The sample using ZnO(2nm)/Mg(2nm) interlayer produced the lowest contact resistance with SBH(Schottky barrier height) of 0.576 eV and the transmittance higher than 83% at a wavelength of 460nm when annealed at 500$^{\circ}C$ for 3min in air ambient.

An Optical Characteristic Research of a Netspec Lens (네츠팩 렌즈의 광학적 특성 연구)

  • A Netspec lens has the form having the 2-dimensional mesh coating on a general ophthalmic lens. It is known that it makes the ophthalmic image see more clearly, reducing the ophthalmic fatigue and that the transmittance of it for ultraviolet and infrared rays is lower. We need to prove this characteristic scientifically. So, in this study, we applied the Kirchhoff's scalar wave theory to the Netspec lens and induced a transmittance expression. And we made the program of which simulation can explain the transmittance effect of the Netspec lens. Also, we tried the interpreting about the result of the simulation. Finally, we have known that this simulation program can be used to adjust the transmittance of the light according to the wavelength.

  • In this paper, bit error rate (BER) characteristics, sensitivity and minimum allowable launching power are numerically investigated as a function of amplifier spacing that consisted of 1,200 km WDM systems with MSSI method. It is conformed that the sensitivity and minimum allowable launching power are gradually degraded as amplifier spacings are gradually expanded, but those are not largely affected by modulation format. The sensitivity of RZ transmission system is smaller than that of NRZ transmission system, but minimum allowable launching power of NRZ transmission system is smaller than that of RZ transmission system. And, it is confirmed that the best amplifier spacing in NRZ and RZ transmission system is less than 50 km, because the sensitivity and minimum allowable launching power are less affected by fiber dispersion, channel wavelength and pump light power.

  • The feedback control systems of welding process using visual information can improve weld qualities. However, it is very difficult to get the visual information of weld pool since the light intensity of welding arc is much stronger than that of the weld pool. To explore the possibility of extending the capability of automatic welding machines, a study of a closed loop controlled welding system consisted of a GTA welding machine, a vision system, a stepping motor system and a digital computer was undertaken. Particularly, in this system, a CCD camera with a long wavelength pass filter was used to get a better weld pool image. Subsequently, an image analysis technique has been developed to measure the weld pool width. Using this weld pool width measurement, a colsed loop control system adjusted welding speed to maintain a constant weld pool width.

  • The oxygen saturation of blood can be measured by the difference absorption in optical spectra of Hb and Hb0$_2$, as the well known previous study. In this study we developed the non-invasive oxygen measurement device for diagnosis of peripheral vascular disease in lower extremity using infrared and red LED which produce a peak spectral emission at a wavelength of 660 nm, and 940 nm. To evaluate the clinical application of the oxygen measurement device, we performed lower extremity study to measure the oxygen changes in response to physiological changes within biological tissue. The results showed that oxygen saturation of blood in biological tissue can be monitored from the separation arrangement light source and detector.

  • Top-down processes based on photolithography technology have been developed by using light sources with short wavelength, however, the processes are expected to meet their limits in higher integration of semiconductor integrated circuits. To overcome the limits, researches on bottom-up processes have been proceeded. One of those, fabrication of nanodevices by using nanoparticles has been on research. But it is difficult to align nanoparticles at appropriate positions. To resolve this, studies has been proceeded to form nanowires by bonding DNA molecules which have self-assembly property and positive-charged functionalized gold nanoparticles. There are negative-charged phosphates in backbones of DNA molecules. By using the attractive force between the negative charge of the phosphates and the positive charge of gold nanoparticles, the Au-DNA nanowires are made. However, bonding Au nanoparticles only on DNA molecules, not other nanoparticles, is to be solved. So we studied to resolve this problem. In the formation of Au nanoparticles, we changed the charge of Au nanoparticles by adding HCl to control pH of the functionalized nanoparticles, measured zeta potential. Then we bonded the nanoparticles and DNA molecules and made observation by using FE-SEM and AFM.

  • In order to measure the radiation, there are types of sensors plurality. I was using the detection method and sensitivity of the CCD sensor in the scintillator and collimator in the sensor. In this study, in order to detect radiation using a CCD sensor with high resolution, by measuring the radiation dose by processing the visible light generated in response to radiation of the image coming into the CCD in the scintillator in space it is to present a pointer that radiation comes out most. It is intended to imaging by calculation of the distance to the radiation source to the implementation of the stereo camera system video in the future.

(Ba,Sr)$_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ Phosphor Particles by Spray Pyrolysis Process

  • $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor particles with high brightness were prepared by spray pyrolysis. The changes in the photoluminescence intensity and morphology of $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ were investigated by changing the posttreatment temperature and the concentration of dopant. The prepared $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ particles has a dense structure, but irregular shape after the posttreatment. When they were excited by the ultraviolet light of 410 nm, a broad emission band with a peak at 508 nm was observed. The photoluminescence intensity of the prepared $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ particles was enhanced by increasing the posttreatment temperature up to 1300 $^{\circ}C$ and further improved by adding several rear-earth codopants. The $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ particles prepared by spray pyrolysis had a good excitation spectrum in the wavelength longer than 350 nm. Therefore, it was concluded that the $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ prepared by spray pyrolysis is a good green-emitting phosphor for LED application.

Luminescent Properties of the $Tb^{3+}$-Activated $ABCO_4$ and $ABC_3O_7$ Phosphors (A=Ca, Sr ; B=Y, RE ; C=AI, Ga)

  • In $ABCO_4$ and $ABC_3O_7$ (A=Ca, Sr; B=Y, Rare earth; C=Al, Ga), random distribution of static crystalline fields in activator sites results in inhomogeneous broadening of spectral lines of luminescent materials. In this study, we investigated luminescent properties of above-mentioned materials by excitation and emission spectra. In result, both $ABCO_4$:Tb and $ABC_3O_7$:Tb phosphors emit the green light. $ABC_3O_7$:Tb phosphors absorbed shorter wavelength energy than $ABCO_4$ phosphors so that the emission efficiencies of $ABC_3O_7$:Tb phosphors were higher than those of $ABCO_4$:Tb phosphors under vacuum UV.
