  • User participation, potentiality of modification, and interaction are some of significant features of game, and in the same sense, mod - user-created additions and modifications to an existing game - represents these aspects of game. Residual Life Assessment of mod HP Reformer Tubes Using Surface Replication Methods (표면복제를 사용한 mod HP강 개질로 튜브의 잔여수명 평가에 대한 연구)

  • Residual life assessment of reformer tubes of mod HP steel used in the refinery and petrochemical industry were investigated by quantitative metallographic evaluation method. Area fractions of precipitated carbides were measured by using surface replication and its relationship with the remaining life of the tube was investigated. The microstructures of the virgin and other tubes were examined using optical microscopy (OM) for service periods of 1.8, 6.0, 7.2, 8.5, 9.7, and 16.2 years at 950 ℃ and the area fractions of the precipitates were measured by image analysis using ImageJ software. As the area fraction of the precipitates increased, the residual life was decreased accordingly. The results showed that the LMP was the highest in the virgin and the LMP decreased as the service time increased and the residual life decreased. A regressional equation showing the relation between the area fraction of carbides and LMP was experimentally derived. The obtained relationship can be used with the surface replication method for on-site residual life assessment.

  • In this study, ORF 46 of Bombyx mod nucleopolyhedrovirus(Bm46) fused with EGFP was expressed in Bombyx mod cell lines, larvae and pupae by BmNPV Bacmid system. Bm46 and EGFP were cloned into donor plasmid pFastBacHTb, which was transformed to competent DH10B cells containing helper and BmNPV bacmid by site-specific transposition. Recombinant bacmid was used to transfected BmN-4 cells to produce the recombinant baculovirus vBm-Bm46-EGFP. Recombination virus was injected into silkworm larvae and pupae. The expression of the fusion protein was monitored by examining green fluorescence using a fluorescent microscope. Intense fluorescence in cells and silkworm was observed at 4 days post-infection, indicating the Bm46-EGFP fusion gene was expressed successfully.

  • In Brassica, S locus glycoprotein (SLG) and S locus receptor kinase (SRK) genes function together for self-recognition in the self-incompatibility response. In addition, a water channel called aquaporins (MOD) is required for the self-incompatibility response. In this study, we isolated the SC-SLG, SC-SRK, and SC-MOD genes from a self-compatible line of B. oleracea. In the self-compatible line, the SC-SLG, SC-SRK, and SC-MOD genes showed the highest degree of sequence similarity with published data and to normal expression by RT-PCR. Therefore, it can be concluded that the SCR/SP11 gene of the B. oleracea pollen may not function and/or that mutations may occur in genes for self-incompatibility that are not linked to the S locus region.

Effect of Hardness and Substructure on Long-term Creep Behavior of Mod.9Cr-1Mo Steel (개량 9Cr-1Mo 강의 장시간 크리프거동에 미치는 경도와 하부조직의 영향)

  • Interrupted creep tests were carried out on the Mod.9Cr-1Mo steel in order to investigate the structural degradation during creep. The ranges of creep stress and temperature were from 71 to 167MPa and 873 to 923k, respectively. The change of hardness and tempered martensitic lath width were measured in the grip and gauge parts of interrupted specimens. The lath structure was thermally stable in static conditions, but was not stable during creep, and the structural evolution was enhanced by creep strain. The relation between the change in lath width and strain was described in the from, $\delta$W= a ($W_s-W_o$)$cdot;varepsilon$, where $\varepsilon$ is the strain, $W_o$is the initial lath width, $W_s$ is the final lath width depending solely on stress, and a is the constant of the magnitude of 0.67 $\mu$m /strain. The change in Victors hardness was expressed by a one-valued function of creep life consumption ratio. Based on the empirical relation between strain and lath width, a model was proposed to explain the relation between change in hardness and creep life consumption ratio. The model revealed that about 65$%$ of dislocations in lath structures were eliminated by the migration of subboundaries.

The change of hardness and tempered martensitic lath width was measured in grip and gauge parts of interrupted creep specimens. The lath structure was thermally stable in static conditions. However, it was not stable during creep, and the structural change was enhanced by creep strain. The relation between the change in lath width and creep strain was described quantitatively. The change in Vickers hardness was expressed by a single valued function of creep LCR(life consumption ratio). Based on the empirical relation between strain and lath width, a model was proposed to describe the relation between change in hardness and creep LCR. The comparison of the model with the empirical relation suggests that about 65% of hardness loss is due to the decrease of dislocation density accompanied by the movement of lath boundaries. The role of precipitates on subboundaries was discussed in connection with the abnormal subgrain growth appearing in low stress regime.

  • In general, spinal fusion surgery takes pressure off the pain induced nerves, by restoring the alignment of the spine. Therefore spinal fixation system is used to maintain the alignment of spine. In this study, a biomechanical study was performed comparing the SROM(Spinal Range Of Motion) of three types of system such as Rigid, Dynesys, and Fused system to analyze the behavior of spinal fixation system inserted in vertebra. Dynesys system, a flexible posterior stabilization system that provides an alternative to fusion, is designed to preserve inter-segmental kinematics and alleviate loading at the facet joints. In this study, SROM of inter-vertebra with spinal fixation system installed in the virtual vertebra from L4 to S1 is estimated. To compare with spinal fixation system, a simulation was performed by BRG. LifeMOD 2005.5.0 was used to create the human virtual model of spinal fixation system. Through this, each SROM of flexion, extension, lateral bending, and axial rotation of human virtual model was measured. The result demonstrates that the movement of Dynesys system was similar to normal condition through allowing the movement of lumbar.

The Evaluation of Materials Degradation in Modified 9Cr-1Mo Steel (Modified 9Cr-1Mo 강의 열화도 평가)

  • Evolution of microstructure due to service exposure to high temperature has a strong effect performance of heat resistant steels. In case of modified 9Cr-1Mo steels, precipitation of $Fe_2Mo$-type laves phases and coarcening of $M_23C_6$-type carbides is the primary cause of degradation of mechanical properties such as creep resistance, tensile strength and toughness. Creep tests have been carried out on pre-aging mod. 9Cr-1Mo steels to examine the effect of pre-aging and stress on the creep strength. Based on the results, a nondestructive procedure, where electrochemical technique that quantitatively detect laves phases and $M_23C_6$-type carbides in a material is used, has been proposed to evaluate a residual creep life of mod. 9Cr-1Mo steels.

Performance Analysis of The KALIMER Breakeven Core Driver Fuel Pin Based on Conceptual Design Parameters

  • Material properties such as coolant specific heat, film heat transfer coefficient, cladding thermal conductivity, surface diffusion coefficient of the multi-bubble are improved in MACSIS-Mod1. The axial power and flux profile module was also incorporated with irradiation history. The performance and feasibility of the updated driver fuel pin have been analyzed for nominal parameters based on the conceptual design for the KALIMER breakeven core by MACSIS-MOD1 code. The fuel slug centerline temperature takes the maximum at 700mm from the bottom of the slug in spite of the nearly symmetric axial power distribution. The cladding mid-wall and coolant temperatures take the maximum at the top of the pin. Temperature of the fuel slug surface over the entire irradiation life is much lower than the fuel-clad eutectic reaction temperature. The fission gas release of the driver fuel pin at the end of life is predicted to be $68.61\%$ and plenum pressure is too low to cause cladding yielding. The probability that the fuel pin would fail is estimated to be much less than that allowed in the design criteria. The maximum radial deformation of the fuel pin is $1.93\%$, satisfying the preliminary design criterion ($3\%$) for fuel pin deformation. Therefore the conceptual design parameters of the driver fuel pin for the KALIMER breakeven core are expected to satisfy the preliminary criteria on temperature, fluence limit, deformation limit etc.

  • The rifle impact of human body affected by the posture of human for rifling. The interaction human-rifle system influence the firing accuracy. In this paper, impact analysis of human model for shooting posture is carried out. ADAMS code and LifeMOD is used in impact analysis of human model and modeling of the human body, respectively. On the shooting, human model is affected by rifle impact during the 0.001 second. Performed simulation time for shooting is 0.1 second. Applied constraint condition to human-rifle system is rotating and spherical condition. As the results, the displacement of rifle and transfer path analysis of impact of human model is presented.
