  • The role of corrective feedback (CF) has long been discussed in the field of second language acquisition. It has been claimed that CF enables learners to notice the problems in their second language (L2) production. However, it should not be assumed that learners always adequately interpret teachers' responses to their problematic utterance as correction. Especially when feedback is provided in an implicit way, the possibility that CF goes unnoticed should not be excluded. In this regard, the study aims to investigate how learners perceive teachers' corrective feedback in English classrooms in Korea. The study focuses particularly on examining the relationship between type of feedback and target linguistic content with learner interpretation of teacher corrective intention. Nine classrooms were observed and videotaped. Forty-five students and nine teachers participated in stimulated recall interviews. Their comments were analyzed to document the learners' perception and the teachers' intention of feedback. It was found that learner perception of teacher corrective intention was at its greatest when feedback was provided explicitly and was focused on morphological errors.

  • The dictionary is the most important tool for every Chinese learner to confirm the meaning and usage of words. Therefore, accuracy of headword's interpretation in the dictionary is crucial. This study aims to discuss the accuracy and the adequacy of headwords' interpretation in the Chinese-Korean dictionary through the Chinese corpus and Baidu. The scope of this study are 3000 words in the D3H1 region. According to the research results, the main problems of the vocabulary in this region can be divided into three categories: the first is the problem of lexical interpretation, the second is the problem of missing interpretation, and the third is other problems. In the D3H1 area, there are a total of 719 low-frequency vocabularies, and 54 headword's interpretations are not accurate or appropriate. This study is a detailed investigation and analysis of the problems of these 54 vocabularies.

  • The purpose of the study was to explore the potential of the Social Network Analysis as an analytical tool for scientific investigation of learner-learner, or learner-tutor interaction within an Computer Supported Corporative Learning (CSCL) environment. Theoretical and methodological implication of the Social Network Analysis had been discussed. Following theoretical analysis, an exploratory empirical study was conducted to test statistical correlation between traditional performance measures such as achievement and team contribution index, and the centrality measure, one of the many quantitative measures the Social Network Analysis provides. Results indicate the centrality measure was correlated with the higher order learning performance and the peer-evaluated contribution indices. An interpretation of the results and their implication to instructional design theory and practices were provided along with some suggestions for future research.

  • In this paper, I analyze error cases a learner made during learning using ICT, set up error types, and search for effective treatment methods in order to enhance the effects of ICT education. I search for error case to use the methodology of the study which is observation, interviews, and survey. I set up the error types which is the error type of confusion with functions, that of confusion with concepts, that of barriers in interface interpretation, that caused by psychological anxiety, that according to learner personality patterns, and habitual error type. The biggest frequency of errors was found in the error type of confusion with function and that of confusion with concepts, whose treatment methods were searched for using the web-based Q&A learning. Also, I apply the error treatment methods on the classroom and prove the effect.

  • There have been several international lesson studies such as TIMSS Video Study and Learner's Perspective Study. According to the TIMSS Video Study report, within differences found in the lessons in each country is much less than the between differences found in the lessons across countries. This means that each country has its own way of teaching, so called 'national script'. On the contrary, LPS researchers are skeptical about the existence of 'national script' since significant differences are identified within the lessons conducted by the same teacher. The purpose of this study is to analyze the LPS Korean data in terms of class organization and teacher's approach and activities. The categories of class organization are classwork, small group seatwork, and individual seatwork, and the those of teacher's approach and activities are exploratory, directive, summarization, exercises and practice, and assigning homework. Ten lessons were videotaped from two Korean schools respectively, thus altogether twenty lessons were recorded and analyzed. Each lesson shows unique class approach and teacher's approach and activities, however the average of each category in class organization and teacher's approach and activities for the two schools are very similar. This result supports the TIMSS Video Study in the regard that there is a commonality among the lessons within the country, but also confirms the LPS result that it is difficult to assume 'national script'. This study is a preliminary investigation into the LPS Korean data, and the further in-depth interpretation of LPS lessons will be followed.

  • This paper presents a learning framework that fits the digital age - an e-Friendly PLE. The learning framework is based on the theory of connectivism which asserts that knowledge and the learning of knowledge is distributive and is not located in any given place but rather consists of the network of connections formed from experiences and interactions with a knowing community, thus, the newly empowered learner is thinking and interacting in new ways. The framework's approach to learning is based on conversation and interaction, on sharing, creation and participation, on learning not as a separate activity, but rather as embedded in meaningful activities such as games or workflows. It sees learning as an active, personal inquiry, interpretation, and construction of meaning from prior knowledge and experience with one's actual environment.

  • Mathematics is constructed by many signs, and learning mathematics involves the understanding and uses of them. This study reflects mathematical signs and their meanings, and considers how they can be introduced in learning. For these, we first investigated epistemological positions as Piaget, Vygotsky, anthropology, and interactionism. And we investigated semiotic models that Saussure and Peirce built each. Among these we adopted Peirce' triadic model that is consisted of interpretant, object (referent), and represen tamen(sign). In mathematic learning process, representations are transformed by translations and meanings are growed to the representation of another sign. And the meaning of sign grows by learner's interpretation. In terms of theoretical grounds, we settled that the understanding of mathematical signs involved the understanding of their representations and their meanings. On the foundation of above contents, we searched how we introduced signs to students and there were methods that approached to students representationally or inquiringly.

  • This discussion is a study that proposes to introduce a strategy to positively interpret the narrative meaning in media language based on a generalized cognitive environment in order to activate correct media literacy in the era of cultural convergence. have. In particular, by using advertising content that has the most reinforced creativity related to cultural interpretation, it was induced to grasp the informational manifestation of that era and to reproduce meaning interpretation with relevance. In addition, it attempted to utilize an argumentative writing strategy in the process of reproducing Korean language learners' writing, which was capable of cognitive interpretation. The intention of the public service advertisement content developer always expects a positive effect in the social and cultural aspect, and the learner dreams of reflection and a correct future through the effect. The research on activating media literacy in the era of cultural convergence, which I intended, has not yet been much discussed. We hope that the proposed discussion of this study will be actively utilized in mass media language education of the contents of textbooks for Korean language learners, and we are sorry for the part that does not contain quantitative analysis contents, and we expect the results in subsequent thesis.
