  • The field of international management has consistently been recognized as one of the key research pillars in the grand scope of trade studies. In this paper, we conducted critical review on literatures of international management, which were published in Korea Trade Review from 1975 to 2019. Especially, this paper analyzed 'when did research results in the field of international management appear in Korea Trade Review for the first time?', 'how many papers in the field of international management have been published in Korea Trade Review so far?', 'what topics have the papers in the field of international management published in Korea Trade Review mainly described?', and 'what research methods have the papers in the field of international management published in Korea Trade Review adopted?' In particular, this paper compared the similarities and differences between the research issues in leading global journals and those of international management research papers published in Korea Trade Review. In addition, some implications for future research would be suggested regarding what characteristics of international management studies will be meaningful to be published in the Korea Trade Review.

  • Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) is a tumor originating from pancreatic ductal epithelial cells, leading to excessive mucus secretion and dilation of the pancreatic duct. Pathologically, IPMNs display a wide range of dysplasia, ranging from low-grade dysplasia to invasive carcinoma. Invasion into surrounding organs, especially into spleen, is rare and has not been reported in Korean journals. Worldwide, only two cases have been reported. Here, the authors report their experience with a rare case of IPMN in the pancreas that invaded the spleen.

  • The Korean Academy of Health Policy and Management (KAHPM) has shown remarkable achievements in the field of health policy and management in Korea for the last 30 years. The KAHPM consists of experts in various fields of health policy and management, and has been the leading academic discussion forum for health policy agendas of interest to the public. Health Policy and Management (HPM), the official journal of the KAHPM, published the first issue of volume 1 in October, 1991 and is publishing the second issue of volume 28 as of 2018. Currently, it is one of Korea' main journals in the field of health policy and management. HPM has published a special issue in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the KAHPM. The HPM invited authors, including former presidents of the KAHPM and current board members, to write about main issues in health policy and management. Although the HPM tried to set up an invited author on all subjects in the health policy and management field, 19 papers are published, that completed the peer review process by August, 2018. The authors of the special issue of the 30th anniversary of the KAHPM include six former presidents, a senior professor, and 12 board members. The subjects of this issue are reform of the healthcare delivery system, health insurance and medical policy, reform of health system governance, the role of National Health Insurance Service (NHIS), the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs (KIHASA) and the National Evidence-based healthcare Collaborating Agency (NECA), ethical aspects of health policy change, regional disparities of healthcare, healthcare accreditation, new healthcare technology evaluation system, globalization of the healthcare industry, the epidemiological investigator system, the quarantine system, safety and disaster, and official development assistance. There are some remaining topics to deal with for the KAHPM: aged society, anti-smoking, non-infectious disease, suicide, healthcare resources, emergency medical care, out-of-pocket money, medical fee payment system, medical aid system, long-term care insurance, industrial accident compensation insurance, community-centered health welfare system, and central government and local government of health. The HPM will continue to publish review articles on the main topics in health policy and management. This is because the KAHPM, which has been the leading academic society of Korea's health policy and management for the last 30 years, feels responsible for continuing its mission for the next 30 years.

  • OA journal publishing has steadily increased its relative share of all scholarly journal articles by about 20%-30%. The 'Gold' OA, often preferred by readers, refers to journal articles which are more widely available through the journal's web site immediately. This study analyzed funder and university's policy for paying APCs in implementing a Gold OA. In recent years there have been a number of attempts in the UK and Europe to stimulate more systematic arrangements for paying APCs, leading funders have clearly established arrangements in place. Also OA fund made by major universities in North America provides publisher with APCs. On the other hand, it is still in early stages in paying with gold OA requirements from Korean funders and universities. The funders have a 'Green' OA policy, such as upload the article accepted version to their online platform. Although it varies by field, many Korean authors are publishing in international journals. Their articles' impacts would rise when they are published as gold OA. Therefore, funders and universities need to pay attention to gold OA publishing and set up subsidies for APCs which are required by OA or hybrid journal publishers.

  • The study investigates the co-authorship networks of MIS Quarterly as one of the leading journals in IS field and examines patterns of collaboration networks of the intellectuals. These issues are addressed through a systematic Social Network Analysis (SNA) of 242 articles published from 1996 to 2004 in MIS Quarterly. Results of co-authorship network analysis indicate that the whole incomplete network has a low degree of density. Thus, we analyzed three biggest sub-networks to find out who the key players of each sub-network are. Then, following the keyword classification scheme, relevant data from the articles were collected and coded to analyze three major co-authorship networks of MIS Quarterly community. Some implications are drawn from different research keywords of each sub-network.

  • National parks are designated and managed for the purpose of preserving natural ecosystems, nature and cultural scenery, and promoting sustainable utilization in Korea. Since we designated Jirisan as the first Korean national park in 1967, we have now designated and managed 22 national parks. Because these national parks are the core protected areas of the nation and the ecological recreation center for the people, the interests of researchers related to national parks and citizens have steadily increased over the last 50 years. Especially, various natural science researches and social studies on national parks have been conducted with the launch of the Korea National Park Service in 1987, which is dedicated to national park management. However, we still lack research on national park research trends in Korea in spite of the increase in scientific research and public interest. It is important to know who and what institutes are leading national parks research, what research topics have been conducted, what kinds of researches are important in each national park, and how these researches relate to national park management policies. We propose a study to review the national parks related studies that have been carried out so far and identify the research trends. In the pilot study, we collected about 700 research papers on national parks published between 2002 and 2016 through the Korea Citation Index of Korean journals. We are analyzing the number of papers published, research institutes and research topics related to national parks. Analysis of these national park research trends will be necessary for efficient national park management and policy making for future generations.
